Gimme More Similarly to ‘2 Hearts’ I thought this was a poor comeback single and didn’t really reflect what was to come on the album. However the song has got an infectious beat and the lyrics are very good for an R&B song. Gimme More sounds great on a Saturday night but is incredibly bland on a week day. 4/10 Piece Of Me What went wrong? Does this prove Britney has come to terms with her current lifestyle and feels the need to make more publicity out of it? Either way it is rather amazing, the lyrics are so bad that they are good and Britney’s electronically edited voice is truly awesome. The one thing that lets it down is the fact I have badly overplayed it. 9/10 Radar Oooh. Radar is the first of many electro songs. The chorus is repetitive to the point of you singing along to every lyrics. Yeah okay, Britney’s voice has been completely edited and it probably would sound awful live but the song is just so good and badly needs to be released. 10/10 Break The Ice A really bizarre choice of single choice in my opinion. A fairly slow song which has plenty of sound effects packed into it. The chorus is again the best part of the song where it is rather repetitive but nonetheless still catchy. I think this is a rather bad attempt at creating a night club anthem but I love it anyway. 8.5/10 Heaven On Earth A truly beautiful song. Britney goes back to her pop routes for the chorus yet keeps her new found R&B look for the verses. The chorus is just so sweet an innocent and it reminds of the early days but then the heavy beated, stupid lyrics return. However but no means is this a bad thing, in fact quite the opposite. 10/10 Get Naked (I Got A Plan) Getting naked is something associated with Britney so she had to name a song after it, sooner or later. Another infectious song though it features vocals from what sounds like a drunk man. He evidently can’t sing and his words are just blurry and muffled but then Britney hits in and your faith in the song returns. 8/10 Freakshow AMAZING. Quite literally the perfect song, you couldn’t ask for more; quirky sound effects, funky lyrics and Britney rapping. Okay so Britney rapping may not sound amazing but she did an amazing job on Me Against The Music and has proven to top that. The song is rounded with different pitches which quite literally draw your focus in everytime. 10.10 Toy Soldier Toy Soldier lends it name to being possibly a soft song, perhaps a ballad? However I was totally wrong and it is another electro, heavy edited number. A fairly large mix of Get Naked and Freakshow in the sense of the small attempt at rapping and then more amazing sound effects. 9/10 Hot As Ice Britney’s on helium. A hugely computer edited song comes in the form of Hot As Ice, the pitch is so high it is almost squeaky. However the song itself is superb, extremely catchy and unlike any other song the backing vocals help it and make the song what it is. Britney shows what she is capable with this and proves she is on top form. 10/10 Ooh Ooh Baby What, is this Radar? The chorus sounds very similar to Radar, the beat and vocals are almost identical, in fact the only difference are the lyrics. You would expect this to be another amazing song however it is just rather bland, possibly the only song to miss the wow factor. 7.5/10 Perfect Lover Perfect Lover needs a few listens to get into. The background music is the main focus of the song and Britney practically whispers the chorus. Despite not being able to hear what she is singing, the song itself it great and the verses just help the song in every way possible. But it is far away from perfect. 8/10 Why Should I Be Sad? A pretty typical song to end the album with. It pretty much sums the whole album up in one and incorporates a small part of everything song into it. Though, the song lack personality and the beat is rather boring. It sounds very samey throughout and not even the chorus helps it. 6/10 |
