Did you know??? That the lions are only feed in the evening. Which is a normal time for them to eat and hunt in the wild. They get a meal once at day. The tiger depending on size get feed once or twice daily. The younger cubs like Mohan and Majestic are feed a certain amount determined by their weight and as they reach a new weight level their food intake is increased. Last Wed. their food intake was doubled. (Growing boys) They are all feed processed horse meat, beef and chicken. They get bones as treats once a week and blood popicles. Which is just the blood drippings from the meat that is frozen. The leopard are only feed chicken. The trainers interact with the cats in groups of two or sometimes three for safety reasons. Most of the time they are brought out to the enclosures in special carriers, occasionally they do still leash walk them out. Bohkara is 19 years old now and Shaka is 19 I believe. Jahan is considered a senior because he has major hip issues and has a hard time getting around. But he still loves to be outside enjoying the sun. He gets glycoflex for his joints. Jaipur being one of the few cats from the show still alive. Is the most active of all, next to Apollo, Titan and Vishnu. He can entertain a crowd for hours. He lives for the attention. Just a few things I learned on my visit thought I'd share. |
