Ludwig's Heart

Ludwig's Echo was not good. His heart is a bit thicker and some of the blood is not flowing through the heart properly. He is on his medication and we switched his food to a low salt diet and placed him on a Omega fatty acid capsule for his heart also. We may add another pill in but not just yet.

We did his echo today because he needed one and he has a tooth that may need to come out. So checking his heart ahead of time was very important. Now his heart is worse and I'm having a hard time thinking about even putting him under to take the tooth out. He hurt it today chewing on one of his omega fatty acid capsules. But he is a strong kitty after all he's named after Roy.

We are adding a second medication in it's a calcium channel blocker to help the blood flow more freely through the heart. Worse thing it can do is make him vomit. Then will Echo again in three months to see how that's working.

I wish the best for your sweet furnose Ludwig thumbs up

We suffer with our beloved furbabies, don't we?

I am glad that my 3 Maine Coon are well, they are siblings and 2 years old. In that age they are pretty healthy and full of energy. But I've been thru a lot of problems with my 17 years old boy Micki, who had been a diabetic for 3 years. He went over the rainbow bridge 2 years ago...

Hi Penny
My prayers are with you and Ludwig. I hope things work out ok. We love our pets for sure.
My ChocolateLab Koda, went in this morning to have a large fatty touma removed from her chest.
It began to grow under her arm pit making it very hard for her to walk. She already has arthrits in her legs so thats tough enough.
She's 12 years old so i'm pretty worried about her being put under for the surgery, but I have no choice. I'm be worried all day for sure.
Hang in there.
Best wishes
Nancy

We started our new medication and Ludwig seems to be doing well. No vomiting so far and I really think he feels better. He doesn't sound as wheezy. Hope this medication works.

He is doing great! Two more months and he gets his echo again to check his heart. Then we will really see how well the medication is working.
