Ness and Lucas' sad new downside

Okay, so something was recently found by a bunch of die=hard Ness and Lucas users, which shows how BADLY Ness and Lucas' hitstuns are too long. For instance, many character can grab them repeatidly, grab and let go of them, and then grab then again (It's officially called "Release Grabbing), etc. Lucas can also be infinitely Marth and the Pokémon Trainer can infinitely "release grab" Lucas and Ness, even. Lucas and Ness are at a HUGE disadvantage competitively.

Check out this thread on the issue on the Smashboards (I can't find the official Ness/Lucas hitstun downside thread thingy; sorries!).

Here is a thread of the official chain grab (combo) list.

What this means is...against at least a dozen to 20 or so characters, Ness and Lucas can be screwed by actual real, basically unescapeable super combos, thanks to their massive(ly wierd) hitstun amount. Especially Ness. In other words, if a lot of this isn't banned, Ness and Lucas are basically competitively screwed. They could even make Ness in Melee look like Marth, even, sadly. So if you are a Ness or Lucas user, I'd suggest HEAVILY that you also main another character, as well! Also, I think we should advocate banning a lot of these infinites hence forth via limiting to three or so "chaining". There are just too many infinites in Brawl. It's sadly ridiculous. :(

"lol. If we're going to give Lucas a disadvantage AT ALL, we better make sure Ness gets it too. We don't want Ness (of all people) to be overpowered."

...

I rarely avoid trying to compensate from the beginning. People who say Ness (of all people) is overpowered get turned on their ear by me. He's a lot of work compared to Lucas (or Marth), but I won't give up anytime soon.

I mean, if i'm flooring EVERYONE else who comes to this site, I must be doing SOMETHING right.

I was rating Ness anywhere from the 6th to 8th best character in the game, and he was either my second or third best. Now, I still use him, but I see him as counter-pick character in standard Brawl, really (like what I do with Yoshi). He's really and truely a great character, but against these characters that crush him, he's doesn't have a prayer. And actually Sneaky, I find Ness to be pretty easy. At least compared to smash 64 and Melee. Recovery is still a b***, but everything else is easy as crap. That's coming from a Ness main! XD

Use fB for spacing, PK Thunder 2 from long range for massive damage wracking from afar, and use fAir for damage and combos, fAir to kill shields, dAir to do multiple hits and damage, nAir for defense, bAir for heavy knockback, fSmash to kill, and dAir to spike and win. Not too complicated. Ness is a powerhouse in a lot of senses, and can actually combo. Anyways, this lowers Ness in my mind to a high low tier at best, and Lucas to about the same (maybe higher) at best. Hopefully we can find a way to trump it. Or we can wait for the game editor project thingy to make tiers non-existant! >_>

1. Everyone takes work to get right. It just depends on the fighting style you choose. I like someone with great aerials, as I spend most of my time intercepting iinstead of edgehogging. So, I chose marth and pikachu. :marth: :pikachu:

2. You haven't floored me yet. You probbly will, but save that bragging for when you actually do. Besides, I don't think you'll FLOOR me. You may win, but hopefully it's only by one stock. Gah, we need to connect...
