I know about everyone would agree with me that Pichu doesn't fit with all the stars of nintendo like Link and Mario. So why couldn't Sakurai pick a better clone? Elekid would have been a much better character

Discuss.

Obviously Sakurai has a fetish for electric mouse....es???

Honestly, I think it's because of their success with the 2nd/3rd/4th (can't remember) pokemon movie, specifically the short before the movie. Everyone liked them. So, it's really because of the "fan base" at that time. Which is now practically gone...

IF Pichu changed it's down B to Thunder Wave, neutral B to thundershock, and up B to agilitiy it would. If all it's attacks didn't suck, I'd remember it's in Melee more, lol! XD

forget his moveset for a second though. Why does Pichu even deserve a spot as a melee character.

I already said why in my post above... and I didn't include anything about a moveset. Let's face it. Sakurai is a wh*re for popularity (even though pichu isn't TOO popular)

Dr. Mario, Sheik, Falco, Pichu, Marth, and Roy don't deserve their spots, especially since Diddy Kong and Wario aren't in Melee. If those two were in Melee-Melee would have had a PERFECT ROSTER in my eyes, especially for the amount of money, time, and when Melee was made! :)

Obviously they don't deserve their spots. (INCLUDING FALCO). But that didn't stop Sakurai, and it sure as h*ll didn't stop him in Brawl...

Characters IMO who did not deserve their spots in smash:

Smash 64:

-Captain Falcon: F-Zero hadn't reached ANYWHERE NEAR the 2 million unit mark. Wait, has it even done that YET!?!?!? O, nevermind, I think it (barely) has.

-Ness: EarthBound had sold only about 500,000 units at that point=not vey many=flop.

Peach, Bowser, and King Dedede were all more worthy, along with Marth (actually), Diddy Kong, Wario, and Meowth (that'd be teh pwnz!). o_O

Melee:

-Dr. Mario: Wario is far more popular, and he stars a Mario franchise spin-off. Why not bring in the go-cart as a PC (Mario clone), eh?

-Shiek: Appeared for about 5 minutes in Ocarina of Time ONLY! It is one game of 8 in the Legend of Zelda series at that time, soon 9 and 10 at the time.

-Falco: The Star Fox 64 fever was DEAD! The Star Fox series' last game was over 5 years old for God's sake. Let it die. While it the series had sold just under 2 million or so units at that point, Metroid had sold over 10 million, Donkey Kong had sold over 43 million, Zelda over 30 million, Pokémon over 80 million, Kirby over 25 million, and Wario (Land) over 8 million units. Diddy Kong and Wario's star rolls each sold over 8 million units. The Star Fox series wasn't a fourth as big.

-Pichu: Unpopular. Hated. Just stupid. Honestly, pick Tyranitar, a legendary dog (Suicune? Or Entei if you must!), Celebi, ANYTHIGN ELSE! Worst character addition in smash, EVER!

-Ice Climbers: Retro, but unpopular. Their game sold about 500,000 to 750,000 units at the time 16 years ago. That's a long time. They were popular for about 6 months. Mach Rider was more popular in it's time, and it's legacy lasted much longer. Clu-Clu Land had the same case, but bigger. Balloon Fight had sold over 5 million units world wide, and had spawned several sequal (series), spin-offs, and whatnot, and is still popular to this day. Balloon Fighter > Ice Climbers. However, the Ice Climbers still deserve their spot for their originality.

-Marth: Just because Wario and Diddy Kong deserved a spot in Melee more.

-Roy: His game sold fairly well, but he was still unpopular, and unknown. All in all,
not a good choice for Melee. If this was Brawl, however, he'd be a great canidate.

Captain Falcon deserved his spot by then, and Ness is debateable, but deserved his spot a lot more then in Smash 64.

Brawl:

-Shiek: 5 minutes in Ocarina of Time=that's it. One game out of 14 in the Legend of Zelda series. Shiek is and forever will be unpopular, lacks a real character, and is more or less a filler in the Zelda series. She appeared in a game over 9 years old. Let Shiek die already if you are willing to get rid of Mewtwo!

-Zero Suit Samus: A 5 minute appearance in Metroid and Metroid: Zero Mission, and a Easter Egg game ending appearance in every other Metroid game. Big deal!

-Wolf: A minor repetative villian in a series that hasn't even sold it's 4 millionth' unit! Star Fox, a series that's sales are under 4 million units, has as many reps as the Kirby series, which has sold 30 million units, and more reps then Donkey Kong, which has sold over 45 million units, Yoshi, which has sold over 10 million units, Wario Land, World, and Ware, which combined have sold over 8 million units, Metroid, which has sold over 14 million units, and Fire Emblem, which has sold just a few thousand less units. Honestly, WTF? No 3rd Star Fox character was or is needed in Smash Brawl or Super Smash Bros. 4, EVER! The series is basically dead. Get over it Sakurai, and stop masturbating over your Star Fox franchise shrine. Rep the much better, more popular, Nintendo-flagship, and ACTUAL HOUSEHOLD NAME DONKEY KONG AND METROID SERIES MORE!

-Ice Climbers: Same reason as before, but to a much lesser (harsh) extent.

-The Pokémon Trainer: Taking up 3 character spots. Not too big of a reason, but still a reason.

-Lucario: Mewtwo is a hundred times more popular, and Meowth is more popular, too.

-Jigglypuff: Same as Lucario, but amplified like 100 times! >_<

-Ike: His two games' combined sales are about 400,000 units=not very many. Roy's game have made about as much, and Hector/Eliwood (Roy's father)'s game has sold much more! He's carried by fanbase alone, but the sales of the game he stars (Path of Radiance) and shares the starring roll with Miciah (Radiant Dawn) haven't sold that well, unfortunately.

-Solid Snake: Just because Mega Man has sold more units, is more popular, and is a much more well-known character and name. Still a good choice, however. But poor Megamanz! :megabuster:

Lucas is also debateable since he's Japan-only, but he's also the newest character, and his game is HEAVILY demanded state side, and Lucas is also very popular in Japan, along with MOTHER 3 as a whole.

Geno is a 3rd party character, but he's more of a 2 1/2, so it is unfair to judge. Besides that, Geno is a unknown, and Snake is a icon. Megaman is a super icon. If you don't know who Megaman is, you aren't a gamer. At all. If you don't know who Geno is, you haven't heard of or played Super Mario RPG simply. Still, he'd be a nice "wtf character". :snake:
