Showdown was over and done. Another show had come to pass, and once again he had managed to come out losing. "No big surprise there" some people might think, considering the match he was involved in and the pressure behind it. But even so, Alex Brooks was not a man to be underestimated, and Rey Rosario had no intention of making a new friend in Matt Anderson. At the end of the night, after one hell of a match, it was Alex Brooks who managed to pin Rey Rosario and pick up the win. But for Rey Rosario, Showdown also revealed new enemies. Just as he had finally turned away the determined challenge of Alex Brooks, two new foes have stepped up, both equally eager and determined. They say there is no rest for the wicked, and for Rey Rosario, that is certainly proving itself to be true. The Rodriguez Brothers are a proven tag team that will give everyone problems. Rey Rosario could not yet focus on winning the SVO Championship, as The Rodriguez Brothers were next in line for a shot at him. But for Rey Rosario, the seemingly endless list of opponents, just chomping at the bit to get a shot at him, was not his only concern. He had been contacted by a mysterious woman and his encounters with her had only served to further mess up his, already plenty messed up, mind. It had been a while since he had heard anything from her though, and he had begun to think that he had wasted his final opportunity to learn the truth about what had happened to him on that mysterious night, and to finally gain some enlightenment and understanding about some of the things he had been doing recently, and the things that he had been seeing in his dreams/nightmares/visions. Little did he know that the days following Showdown, would provide more questions, more confusion, more mystery....but also, finally, some answers... The rain was gently falling from the dark night sky, as a yellow cab slowly rolled to a stop, the squealing of the brakes being the only thing that cut through the otherwise dead silence of the night. The driver's side backdoor was pushed open, and a man, dressed in black boots, black jeans, a black shirt and a black leather jacket, got out of the car with a slight splash, as his feet hit a puddle of water that had formed on the asphalt. The man, was Sanctioned Violence Organization's Rey Rosario. Maybe he did not notice, maybe he did not care, but there was no reaction from Rey. Instead, he just took a quick survey of the area around him, the rain-filled empty streets of a suburban area. He reached into his jacket and pulled out roll of money, as he took a couple of steps forward to the driver's side window. The driver rolled down the window, and Rey handed him a couple of bills, before putting the rest of the money back in his pocket. Having received his money, the driver rolled the window up again and drove off, the tires of the car just missing Rey's feet by mere inches. Again there were no reaction from Rey, he barely seemed to notice the car leaving, as his eyes were fixed on something else; the front gate to his former home. This was the second time he had been here recently, and both times it had been for the same reason; a note. Upon returning home after Showdown, he had found a note pinned to the door to his apartment, once again listing a time and a place. The place, his old home. The time, midnight. The same as last time, and just as last time, he showed up as requested, hoping to finally get some answers. He put his hands in his jacket pockets, as he walked from the road to the sidewalk, and finally to the big gate. After a lengthy period of staring at the house, his mind filling up with memories from his past, good times and bad, that he had had in that house, he turned around and looked in all directions, hoping to see the mysterious woman he was expecting to meet here, but a slight look of disappointment quickly appeared on his face, as he saw nothing but empty streets, darkness, rain and the occasional spot of light coming from the street lights. ??:" You're late." The voice came from behind him. Rey quickly spun around, to see the woman he was expecting to meet here, standing on the other side of the large gate. She was wearing a gothic style black dress, and a long black leather trenchcoat. Woman:" Come on." She said, motioning with her head. Rey hesitated slightly, first looking up at the mansion that used to belong to him, it was completely dark, either everyone inside was asleep, or no one was home. He then looked at the big gate in front of him, and finally back at the woman standing on the other side. Witn neither of them saying a word, Rey jumped up, grabbed hold of the gate, and started climbing. Upon reaching the top of the gate, he swung his legs over the top, and dropped down on the other side, landing on his feet with a thud, as his heavy boots hit the driveway. Rey:" Where are we going?" Woman:" Inside." She replied, immediately. Rey hesitated slightly again. Woman:" Dont worry, they are out of town." She said, as she started walking towards the front door, with Rey following close behind her. Woman:" When we spoke the first time, I told you that in order for you to make sense of what has happened, you must understand where, why and how it all started. That is why we are here...this is where it all started for you." Rey:" Last time we were here, you told me I wasn't ready." Woman:" And I was right." Rey:" But now I am? Just like that?" Woman:" No...not just like that. Last time we were here, you were upset, angry. In that state, your mind cannot come to understand what I had to tell you. You seem more calm now." Rey:" Yeah well...I have had a bad couple of days." Woman:" No doubt because of your loss against Alex Brooks." She said, as Rey was clearly surprised by her knowing that. Rey:" How did you know?" He asked, which prompted the woman to laugh. Woman:" We know everything about you." Rey:" We?" Woman:" Yes." She said, knowing full well that Rey wanted to know who exactly "we" were. Rey:" Who's we?" Woman:" In time you will know, but not yet." She said, as they reached the front door to the mansion. The woman stopped walking and turned around to face Rey. Woman:" Ready?" Rey:" What about the alarm? They are bound to have one." Woman:" Already taken care of." She said, before turning around again and opening the, already unlocked, front door and walking inside, again with Rey following close behind. Once inside, the woman closed the door behind them again and looked at Rey. Rey:" So how is it that you know so much about me?" Woman:" We have been following you for quite some time now." Rey:" Why?" Woman:" I can't tell you that, not yet." Rey just nodded his head. Rey:" So...now what? What the hell are we supposed to be doing here?" Woman:" Hopefully you will come to learn a greater truth here, to understand that things of your past may not have been as they seemed." Rey:" And that means....what?" Woman:" You will see. Tell me, how do you feel right now? About being back in this house?" Rey:" I don't know..." He said, as he shrugged his shoulders. Rey:" It's a little...weird." Woman:" What are your memories of this place?" Rey:" What do you mean?" Woman:" Good, bad? Happy, sad?" Rey:" Depends on how you look at it, I guess..." Woman:" Can you explain what you mean?" She asked, as Rey took a look around, the layout of the house was familiar, but everything else had changed with the new owners. Rey:" Well....I mean, I had some good times here...I was alot happier here...but at the same time..." Woman:" What?" She asked, as Rey had stopped talking. Rey:" Having seen the things I have seen now...knowing the things I know, I don't know...I guess I just feel like the person who lived here, he wasn't me...you know?" Woman:" Because you have changed?" Rey:" I've changed...hell the world has changed, as least the world as I knew it. Back when I lived here, I was completely oblivious to the real world. It was like I was living in my own little money bubble, where everything was perfect and I never cared or bothered to look outside and see what was going on in the world around me." Woman:" And how do you feel about that?" Rey:" I feel like I should blame someone, but I don't know who....maybe myself for allowing myself to live that life, for allowing myself to live with the shades pulled down." Woman:" You are right to want to blame someone, but it is not yourself who should carry the blame for this. Come on." She said, as she walked from the entry to the living room, a beautifully decorated room, with paintings on the walls, and nothing but the finest furniture money can buy. With Rey Rosario in tow, she walked right past the living room and to the stairs leading up to the second floor. They walked up the stairs to a hallway, with several doors on both sides. She turned right, walked past the first two doors on the right, before finally stopping by the third door and pushing it open. It was obvious that Rey was not the only one who had been here before. The room she had led Rey to, was a child's room. Most likely a girl's room, judging by the fact that the walls were painted pink. Rey looked around the room, there were dolls, and various other toys, spread out all over the floor. The woman walked across the room, and sat down on the equally pink bed, that was pushed up against the back wall of the room. She then looked at Rey, who was still standing just inside the room, a few steps from the door. Woman:" How do you feel about being back in this room?" Rey had an uncomfortable look on his face, as he looked around the room, before looking back at the woman. Rey:" It's definately...different." Woman:" Forget about that. Ignore the changes to the room, look past the fact that this is now a child's room. Remember what this room used to be, and then tell me how you feel." As much as he did not want to, Rey did as he was asked. As much as the room had been changed since he lived here, as distracting as the bright pink colors could be, it could not disguise the fact that this room, when Rey lived here, used to be the bedroom....the bedroom he used to share with Jade. Rey:" What is the point of all of this?" Woman:" You wanted answers, did you not?" Rey:" Yeah...but..." Woman:" That is what I am trying to give you." Rey:" Really? Cause it seems to me, that all you are doing is messing with my mind." Woman:" I am giving you the tools to understand the answers when you get them. It may seem strange and random right now, but in due time, everything will be made clear." She said, as Rey sighed. Woman:" Now...tell me how you feel." Rey:" Angry, okay? I feel angry." Woman:" Why? Angry at what? At who?" Rey:" Honestly?...at everyone and everything!" He said, with a fierce anger in his voice. Woman:" That is good...but we need to work with that." Rey:" What do you mean?" Woman:" Your anger is good, but it needs to be more focused. It needs to be aimed at the right people, the ones responsible. That is what I am here to help you with." Rey:" Is that so?" Woman:" You have been wondering about your place in this world, about where you fit in. Whatever fears you may have, while I cannot tell you everything, I can tell you that there is indeed a place for you in this world. You have such potential." Rey:" Potential?" He asked, clearly confused. Woman:" I cannot tell you more than that right now. Just know that there is enlightenment at the end of this journey." Rey:" Meaning what exactly?" Woman:" Meaning that, if you let me, I will help you to understand. I will help you to get all of the answers you seek. But it is a process, and while it may not always make sense to you, you must trust that there is a point to all of it, you must trust me." Rey:" Okay..." He said, with a nod. Woman:" Good...then we are done here." Rey:" Done? Just like that?" Woman:" Yes...but you must always keep this feeling, the feeling you have right now, standing in this room, you must always keep that in both your mind and heart. It will serve it's purpose as the journey continues." Rey:" THAT is what I was supposed to learn here?" Woman:" Yes." Rey:" I already knew it! I mean, it's not like I ever forgot it!" Woman:" I know, but it needed to be fresh in your mind. It will be the fuel that drives you forward on this journey, and it is a vital part of the answers you seek." Rey:" But..." Woman:" I told you to trust me... do you trust me?" She asked, cutting Rey off. Rey hesitated for several seconds. Rey:" Yes..." He said, in a low tone of voice. He did not know why, he did not know how, but for some reason he DID trust her, and this from a man who did not trust anyone. A man who hardly trusted himself. Woman:" Lets go then." She said, as she got up from the bed and walked across the room, past Rey and out into the hallway. Rey hesitated once more, as he took another look at the room, before turning around and following the mysterious woman out into the hallway, closing the door to the child's room behind him. Woman:" So tell me..." She said, as she started walking back towards the stairs. Woman:" What do you make of The Rodriguez Brothers?" She asked, as Rey started walking towards the stairs as well. Rey:" What does it matter?" Woman:" More than you think. Your efforts in Sanctioned Violence Organization has a greater impact than you know. So much of your life is impacted by what is going on there, and that will be even more true as we move forward." She said, as she started making her way back down the stairs. Rey:" Really?" He stopped walking just as he was about to start down the stairs, obviously surprised. Rey:" How's that?" He asked, as he slowly started walking down the stairs, with the woman waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs. Woman:" What you do in SVO started out, for you, as something you did for fun. Then it became a job, and slowly it has now become something more than that...that development must and will continue." She said, just as Rey reached the bottom of the stairs. Rey:" Why is that?" Woman:" I am not the one to tell you about that. I am only supposed to prepare you for that knowledge, someone else will give you those answers." Rey:" Who?" Woman:" In due time..." She said, as she started walking back through the living room, towards the front door, again with Rey following closely behind her. Rey:" Fair warning...if this all turns out to be complete bullshit, you'll be sorry." Just as he finished the sentence, the woman stopped dead in her tracks and turned around to face Rey. Woman:" What we are doing here is important! Don't you EVER question that again! You understand?" She said, with a fierce anger, as Rey just nodded his head. The woman then turned around and they both made their way to the front door and outside. As they closed the door behind them, Rey noticed that the rain had stopped. Woman:" So tell me...Rodriguez Brothers?" Rey:" The Rodriguez Brothers are just next in line...not that they're not a threat, cause they are. I don't take them lightly, but this is a match I can't afford to lose." He said, as he started walking towards the gate. Rey:" I mean, they took the Tag Team Titles from Crippler and myself, so they've proven that they can handle themselves in the ring. But they won't succeed in beating DJ and myself this time, they may THINK that winning that winning the Tag Team Titles from The Canadian Connection was a good thing for them, a great career opportunity...but it's gonna turn out to be just the opposite this time. I'm gonna make damn sure about that, for The Rodriguez Brothers, the goal won't be to walk out of that match victorious...it will be for them to be able to walk out of that match AT ALL!" He said, with a slight, but sickly, smile on his face. Rey:" People think I'm kidding, or exaggerating, when I say that the SVO title is my life, but I'm not! And when I say that people will have to KILL me to take the dream away from me, then I damn sure mean that too! I don't care if it's The Rodriguez Brothers, Samuel Amos, Jay Wildman...or anybody else! I am THE future SVO Champion, and as long as I draw breath, that title is gonna be my main focus." As he reached the gate, he turned around to wait for the woman, but as he did, she was nowhere to be seen. After a quick look around, Rey simply smiled to himself, as he shook his head. Rey:" That is one creepy chick." He said, as he turned around again and started climbing the gate again. As he reached the top, he again swung his legs over and dropped down on the other side. He then slightly adjusted his jacket, before looking first to the right, and then to the left, before crossing the road and disappearing into the darkness. |
