“It’s been awhile since I left all of my Faithful fans a message…I’m sorry about that”

Chezina Rodriguez sits at his table finishing up breakfast, looking into the camera he offers everyone a friendly smile.

“Your well wishes and prayers while I was in the hospital have meant the world to me, your continuing support throughout these trying times is nothing short of a godsend, I’m very lucky to have fans like you all”

“It’s been a rough two months but things are finally starting to look up, I won my last match, and best of all there’s finally someone in my life again, you don’t realize how much you miss that kind relationship until you’ve gone without one for so long”

    Chezina smiles

“She’s wonderful, understanding, she makes me laugh when I need it the most, and just seeing her smile makes me feel like everything is going to be ok…so that’s the upside of my life during these past two months, in all honesty they’re something I’d just like to put behind me”

    Chezina pauses for a moment

“But I can’t do it just yet…see it was Beautiful Shame who ended our winning streak, albeit temporarily, now it seems, whether we're a threat to their Tag Team Title reign or it’s just plain malicious behavior it seems we have their full attention, and while fans and friends alike have been warning me about them, they have been telling me to try not attract their attention, let me ask you? What kind of role model would I be if I didn’t stand up to them? I couldn’t live with myself if I just let them walk all over me and then not respond in some form, and it seems like the best way to teach them a lesson is to take the World Tag Team Titles from around their waist at some point”

Standing up Chezina takes his dishes over to the sink and then comes back to the table

“At first this wasn’t about the World Tag Team Title, the most prestigious prize in tag team wrestling, but then I realized that maybe taking it from Beautiful Shame was just what I needed to do to knock them down a peg, the best way to send a message loud and clear to them…that maybe they knocked us down, but they sure didn’t knock us out!”

Chezina smiles his eyes full of fire and his words sincere, had there been any doubting him up till this point then all one would have to do is look into those eyes and see the truth, that Chezina Rodriguez is back and committed to the task at hand.

“But I can’t look too far down the road, I have to take this one step at a time, and my next step has to do with Grimnir and Grimfamous, they're certainly names that need no introduction, their actions speak louder than their words, they're committed to play with each other's minds in a way that many including myself find a little uncomfortable, but that’s no reason to discount them, their alter egos have in possession the SVO Championship as well as the number one contender spot”

“I hear the chants for them every night, and they’re none too pleasant, and it’s nothing their opponents tend to discourage either, I’m going to break the pattern here however and go out on a limb, I’m going to respect them for the talent they've got and the danger that they pose, I have seen how they have up each other week after week just like you all did, and that’s not a position I’m anxious to put myself in”

Folding his hands Chezina looks thoughtful for a moment before he continues

“This business…the wrestling business, it revolves around how different we all are, how different our personalities and beliefs are, we spend week after week telling each other how different we are, but in reality ladies and gentlemen we’re all more alike then we’d like to admit, and we have more in common than we’d ever thought we did, I think that makes people on the SVO roster uncomfortable, that we’re all more alike than some would care for…but to me that’s just human nature, no matter what we’ll always have our differences, but in the end we’re all just human beings, as strong as we are we have our frailties, as overblown as our ego’s can be we all have our failings”

    “Failure…”

    Chezina says the word firmly

“The moment you start to think you’re better than someone else you’ve embraced failure, you’ve taken on a negative perspective of those around you, in turn you begin to think highly of yourself, perhaps too highly, the moment you think you’re better than someone else you’ve already cheapened yourself, and you’ve set yourself up for disappointment, because in the end you’re going to fail, because you’re all too human, you’re going to fall off the pedestal you’ve put yourself on”

“This is why even as when I was a Tag Team Champion I never once considered myself “Above” anyone on the SVO Roster, and even if I was to win the World Championship my outlook would still be the same, I am just a man who’s out there week after week to entertain you, I’m frail, I’ve failed plenty of times in life, I’ve been broken and hurt, and it’s because of those things that I’ve become who I am, I’ve learned from my lessons, I’ll encourage all of you to try and think like this as well, embrace your failings, learn your lessons, and above all else…Have Faith, I’ll see you all soon!”

    -Off Air-

Three days of training with Marcus and working on his arm with Draven had Chezina feeling better than he had in months, his aches and bruises from past matches began to fade and he began to work himself back into a better shape, rather than training to fight harder he trained to fight faster, more efficiently, convinced that the path to victory over Grimnir and Grimfamous lay in speed and agility he pushed himself towards these goals with a single minded determination.

Three hours after a workout with Marcus he found himself deep in another workout with Sabina…

Lugging boxes up the stairs to her apartment.

“Thanks Chezina, Couldn’t have done this without you, I really needed to get those boxes out of Ryan’s apartment, he was threatening to sell them on EBay!” Sabina complained as they walked up the stairs.

“Not a problem” Chezina said, he’d chosen to walk behind her, peering over the box he saw the form fitting white tank top when was wearing, her hair pulled back and her jeans fitting just right

((Man when did I get so lucky?)) he thought to himself

“Are you looking at my ass Chezina?”

Adjusting the boxes to cover the sudden blush in his cheeks Chezina mumbled a quick “Maybe”

“Well good…” came Sabina’s reply as she set the boxes down “Ahhh I think that’s the last of them!” she said “Thank God”

Setting the box down Chezina sat down on the couch and lay back closing his eyes

“Awww is my big wrestler all tired out now?” Sabina cooed flopping down in his lap, Chezina grunted and wrapped his arms around her.

“Darn right I am” he said “Between you and Marcus I’m not going to be able to move tomorrow” he groaned

“Poor baby” Sabina grinned as she began to rub his shoulders “Would you feel better if I made dinner tonight?”

“That couldn’t hurt” Chezina smiled “Couldn’t hurt at all, you need help?”

“I need you to take a shower…you smell” Sabina said wrinkling her nose, leaning in she gave him a quick kiss and then hopped off his lap “Then we’ll see what kind of help I need in the kitchen”

“Yes maam” Chezina said with a grin

After a quick shower and a change of clothes Chezina stood in the doorway watching Sabina move around the kitchen, he smiled as she hummed a tune to herself and moved comfortably around “her” kitchen

“Take a picture it’ll last longer buddy” she finally said looking over her shoulder at him

“I may just do that” Chezina said coming into the kitchen “How can I help?”

“Stir the sauce while I take a quick shower” she said handing him the wooden spoon “And don’t burn it…or the penalty is death! And no peeking at me in the shower! Or the penalty is…”

“Death?” Chezina smirked as he stirred the sauce

“Ahh he learns quick!” Sabina said as she went into the bathroom, left to his own devices Chezina sets the table, all the while marvelling at how good it felt to just do something “normal” like this with Sabina, the majority of wrestler's life was spent on the road, it was a lonely undertaking and simple things like “Eating dinner at home” were often opportunities that were few and far between, Chezina had taken such things for granted growing up and he hadn’t even realized it till now, despite his troubles with his father he would have given anything to sit down and have dinner with his parents once again…

When Sabina returned from the shower they sat down for dinner, when they finished they moved into the living room and sat down on the couch.

A soft rain began to fall, pattering on the windows in a gentle soothing rhythm, with one arm around Sabina holding her to his body Chezina closed his eyes and listened to her talk, adding in his own thoughts every now and then.

“Ryan was always there for me…” she told him “And I mean ALWAYS…when I got picked on in school he was there, when I got bullied he was there to protect me, when I was sad he was always there to cheer me up, he was a brother and a friend, I always felt safe with him around…not that I’m a damsel in distress, don’t go getting any ideas buddy” she said poking Chezina in the chest

“But eventually I reached that age where I wanted more independence, my life began to take me places where an overprotective brother didn’t fit in, it caused some strain between us, when I was growing up I wanted to be strong just like him, but when I was older I wanted my own life, I started to resent his overprotection, I started doing things that I knew he wouldn’t like, we had plenty of fights over my choices”

She sighed and leaned back against his chest

“I made some stupid choices Chezina…but he was always there for me, and the stupidest thing of all was that while I was rebelling against my brother I was missing the protection he offered me at the same time…how dumb is that?” she sighed her voice going a bit softer as she spoke

“Not dumb at all” Chezina said brushing the back of his hand over her cheek

“Yet when all was said and done he took me back in, helped me find a job…introduced me to you” she said turning her head to look back at him with a smile

“All very good things” Chezina smiled back

“I know he’s still my big brother…but I see what he’s become now, it worries me a little bit”

“It worries me too Sabina…” Chezina said “But he’s got you and he’s got me to fall back on, we both know what he’s “Really” like, all we have to do is not let him forget that” he said hugging her a little tighter “He’ll be ok”

Sabina sighed, then pulling herself from his lap she set her soda can down on the table and climbed into his lap straddling his waist and pushing him back against the couch, looking down at him her voice took on a more serious tone

“I want to feel safe Chezina, I want to feel protected, but at the same time I want to be a strong independent woman…can you give that to me?”

“I want the same things” Chezina said reaching up to up her cheek “We all do, I wouldn’t dream of denying you those things”

“So you want to be a strong independent woman too then?” Sabina said smirking down at him

“Oh yeah…just call me Miss Independent” Chezina said looking up at her and trying not to smile, he failed of course and Sabina laughed

“Thank you for making me smile Chezina” she said

“You’ve got a beautiful Smile…You should use it more often” he said looking up at her

“You know just what to say don’t you…” Sabina said, before he could respond she lowered her head and kissed him, not the kind of kiss you took part in but the kind of kiss you lost yourself in.

With the rain falling outside and Sabina sighing softly against his lips Chezina could only hold onto her tightly, never wanting the moment to end, when she pulled away and pulled his shirt up to run her fingers over his chest he groaned softly, then her lips were on his again, her hands taking his and pressing them to her chest, he indulged exploring her curves through the fabric of her shirt and was rewarded when she murmured his name.

The kiss grew deeper and soon their hands were tugging at each others clothing, with Herculean effort Chezina pulled away and looked up into her eyes, they were glazed over as he knew his must be.

“We should…stop” he panted “Before we don’t want to stop…not that it would be a bad thing but…it would be moving too quick”

Comprehension dawned on her face and her eyes regained focus

“Y-Your right” she sighed laying her head against his shoulder and putting her hand on his chest “Your heart is beating a mile a minute” she smiled

“You do that to me” Chezina said as he regained his composure

They sat like that for a long time in silence listening to the rain until Sabina sighed sleepily

“Stay with me like this?” she asked him

“I could do that” he sighed

“Is forever too long to ask?” she inquired looking up at him

“Well at least until I face Grimnir and Grimfamous” he said cupping her cheek

“I should be angry you’re leaving me to go get all sweaty with two men” she grinned teasingly, then with a reluctant groan she got up and offered him her hand “But I’m not…you need your rest”

((I need a cold shower is what I need)) Chezina thought as he took her hand and let her pull him to his feet

“Good night Chezina” she said leading him to the door, he picked up his gym bag and his jacket, she offered him one last kiss calling it “One for the road” before he took his leave and walked slowly through the falling rain and to his bike with a dreamy smile on his face.

The cool rain brought him back to reality, he still needed to talk to Josh, the big man would be the perfect enforcer to help watch his back against Grimnir and Grimfamous, and seeing as how he only lived a few doors down from Chezina there wouldn’t be a better time to ask than now.

--

“Married?” Chezina blinked in surprise as Josh and Misty nodded proudly with their arms around one another.

“I’ve spent my life working for other people” Josh said “Making them happy…and while knocking heads together has always made me happy I figured it was time to do something that would make me really happy”

“So he did me” Misty grinned

“We’ll be going down to Vegas to get hitched, spend some time with some friends there and then decide where we’re going to go on our Honeymoon” Josh said “We’ll be gone about a month, maybe a month and a half if things go really well”

“And they will” Misty said “He’s not going to be walking by the end of the first month…he’ll need the next half to recover” she said, the look on her face told Chezina she wasn’t exaggerating.

“Is there anything you need Kid? Something we can help you with?” Josh asked “I know you didn’t stop by to hear us talk about shagging through loose innuendo”

Chezina was torn, on one hand he needed Josh’s strength against Grimnir and Grimfamous, but on the other hand he couldn’t deny the big man needed something like this, and that he deserved all the happiness he could get, in the end he smiled and shook his head.

“No” he said “I just wanted to stop by and see how you two were doing” he said standing up and shaking Josh's hand, Misty rose and gave him a hug

“If it hadn’t been for you I’d never have met Josh in the first place” she said kissing Chezina on the cheek “I owe you big time”

“I hope you two have a long and happy life together” Chezina said

After leaving he walked slowly back to his apartment door, Without Josh he certainly wouldn’t have the physical edge he needed in his corner, Josh had spent his entire life fighting people, Chezina had been counting on him being there.

“I’ll be ok” he told himself as he unlocked his door and stepped inside his apartment “I’ll be alright…I can handle this with Chivo by ourselves”

But even Chezina couldn’t deny the hint of desperation he heard in his own words, had he been speaking them to someone else he was certain they wouldn’t have believed them either.
