For the last few weeks, things had been pretty bleak for Nathan Paradine.

It was hard to believe that two months ago, he was riding high on top of the Sanctioned Violence Organization. He'd just defeated James Von Drake and Asesino to win the Las Vegas and TapOut titles respectively, he had been on the verge of forming a winning tag team with his ex-rival Cody Williams and he'd had the trust of Jon Page, one of the most wanted men on the roster. Now? He was little more than a comedy afterthought, inserted onto the card at the very last minute against a couple of two-bit wannabes in a desperate attempt by upper management to try and salvage any value he might have left. It could be his last chance to redeem himself both in his own eyes and the eyes of the sVo universe and he wasn't going to screw it up. He WAS going to beat-

"James Von Drake and Benedict Wilson." He mouthed the words as he read them, his eyes flickering back and forth. He was standing in front of a large message board in the backstage area of the Goodfellas Arena where the weekly match card was tacked up next to various advertisements for used wrestling gear and a polaroid picture of "Beautiful" Bobby Dean. His attention remained focused on the match card though as he lifted his hand and underlined his match with a finger. "Seriously. You have GOT to be kidding me."

Paradine grinned, lifting the hand up and scratching at his chin. He'd expected to have to face at least some sort of challenge in order to regain his credibility. The people attending Showdown had paid to see a wrestling exhibition. What they would get would be a massacre.

"I mean, I've beaten this JVD bloke once already; I even took his Las Vegas Championship in the process. And Benedict Wilson? Sure he has the whole creepy masked guy thing going on, but when it comes down to it intellect isn't going to stop a six-four, two hundred and forty pound beast like myself from snapping his bloody neck like a french fry."

"Let's face facts, alright? JVD and Wilson have exactly one thing going for them, and that is the hope that I somehow, someway, I end up incapacitated before Showdown this week. They can try to put on a tough face and do their whole "badass wrestler who doesn't take shit" routine, but secretly they're quivering in their boots at the thought of stepping between the ropes with Second to None, the "Reflection of Perfection" Cody Williams and the one and only "Australian Submission Machine" Nathan Paradine!"

"Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm coming off as a conceited asshole, which really isn't what I intended. You see, I can talk the talk... because when it comes down to it, I can walk the walk as well. I leave my domestic issues at home and I don't let it affect me when I fight. I swear, these two guys are like some sort of bad stage act, with JVD playing your typical straight man and Benedict Wilson playing the loser brother in law mooching off the family. Do I smell sitcom? Call it "It Runs In The Family", because it definitely appears every member shares the exact same trait; you're all a pathetic pack of half-witted failures. Always so close to the mark, and always falling just a teensy little bit short. Consider yourselves lucky to even get any offense in on Sunday night, let alone pin one of us."

Paradine chuckled and tore the match card off the wall, holding it up high before screwing it up and tossing it into a nearby trash basket. He then turned and walks away, the scene slowly fading out to black.
