**Vision** ??:" What are you doing here?" In front of him was an elderly man, dressed in a black suit and tie. He had seen the man before, in his nightmares. Rey:" I...I don't know." Man:" You don't know?" Rey shook his head, before looking around him. Everything was completely dark, aside from a small circle that he and the elderly man was standing in. Complete darkness surrounded them. Rey:" Where am I?" Man:" You mean, you don't know?" He said, as a sickly smile appeared on his face. Rey:" No..should I?" Man:" Well, I would think so." Rey:" Tell me." Man:" It puzzles me that you do not know...surely you have been here before, maybe your mind just isn't ready to remember yet." Rey:" Just tell me!" He said, slowly getting frustrated. Man:" Well..." He suddenly stopped talking, as footsteps were heard approaching. Man:" It's too late." Rey:" What do you mean?" He asked, while looking frantically around at the darkness surrounding them. Man:" She's coming." He said, in a somber tone of voice. Rey:" Who's coming? WHAT'S GOING ON???" He yelled out, as he started to panic. The elderly man remained calm though, and just looked at Rey with a sadness in his eyes. Man:" It's all going to hell." He said, when suddenly flames burst up all around them, engulfing them in the flames in a matter of seconds... **End Vision** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- **After passing out for a second straight week during an interview with Simon** Simon:" Rey? Rey? Can you hear me?" He said, frantically checking for signs of life. He then turns to the cameraman, who has put down his camera and is kneeling down next to Simon. Simon:" Call an ambulance! Hurry!" The cameraman quickly reaches into his pockets and grabs his phone. He holds the phone up in front of his face, as he begins to dial the number, when Rey suddenly reaches up, grabs his arm and pulls it down. Rey:" That won't be necessary." He says, opening his eyes again. Rey:" I'm fine." Simon:" Are you sure? You passed out!" Rey takes a deep breath. Rey:" I'm fine. Now back off!" Rey pushes both Simon and the cameraman away from him, before slowly stumbling back to his feet." Simon:" I still think we should call a doctor..." Rey:" I told you, I'm fine! I don't need a doctor." He says, as Simon exchanges concerned looks with the cameraman, which Rey seems to notice. Rey:" What?" He asks, angrily. Simon:" Well it's just..." Rey:" Just what?" Simon:" I really think it would be best if you let a doctor take a look at you." Rey:" You'd like that, wouldn't you? You and eveyone else! You would all just love for a doctor to declare me unfit to wrestle at Showdown, right? That way, Jay Wildman can win by forfeit, but that sure as hell ain't gonna happen!" Rey:" Now...lets get on with this." He says, while rubbing his neck. Simon hesitantly sits back down as well, and the cameraman grabs his camera and gets into position. As the cameraman signals that the camera is rolling again, Simon starts talking. Simon:" Folks welcome back to this very special interview. Obviously we had a bit of a situation earlier, but everything seems to be okay and we are ready to continue with the interview. Now Rey, before the...uh, incident before, we were talking about Jay Wildman, the man you will be facing at Showdown. You were saying how, in your mind, it would be justice for you to destroy Jay Wildman in front of the very people who love and support him, surely you are not taking Jay Wildman for granted in this match?" Rey:" If there is one thing I have learned, the hard way, in my life, it's never to take anything, or anyone, for granted. What's here today, is often times gone tomorrow if you're not careful. I know what he brings to the table." Simon:" So let me ask you, what does it mean for you, that you have a match with the SVO World Champion, with the title not on the line?" Rey:" It doesn't mean a damn thing." Simon:" Good point, but I meant in terms of confidence going into this match, if you beat the champion you will surely get a title opportunity, that must give you a nice boost of confidence?" Rey:" No." He says, shaking his head. Rey:" You see, unlike everyone else in Sanctioned Violence Organization, I understand that things change. I understand that people change. They get better, they get worse...what was true yesterday, isn't necessarily true today. And what's true today, but not be so tomorrow. When I first joined Sanctioned Violence Organization, I got my ass handed to me every single night. And so, people started to view me a certain way, and in people's mind, I was nothing more than the guy who always lost. But then I moved, I changed, I got better...and nobody noticed. To this day, people still take me for granted in the ring. Words like "Most underrated wrestler" are heard here and there, but if you ask around, people don't take me seriously. I went to hell and back in this company to win three prestigious championships, and nobody noticed. So to answer you question, no! I am not gonna assume that, just because I win, that I will just automatically be given a title shot. I'm not as stupid as the majority of the roster!" He says, pounding his fist on the table. Rey:" You sacrifice your body, your blood...your very soul! So that you, in the end, can gain the right to call yourself SVO Champion." Rey pauses, as he leans across the table towards Simon. Rey:" And Simon...I AM that man! I am THE future SVO Champion! I am the man who is willing to take things further than anybody else! I am the man who is not afraid to cross lines! I am the man who is not afraid to break boundaries! And when everybody else is saying "enough is enough"...I am the man who says " It's never enough"." He says, before leaning back in the chair again. Simon:" We have previously heard you talking about what the SVO Championship means to you, about how proud you will be to be the champion and..." Rey:" Proud?" He asks, cutting Simon off. Rey:" Proud doesn't even begin to cover it! I will not just be proud of being the SVO Champion, Simon. It is so much more than that, it is something on a much larger scale than just simple human pride. That..." He says, signaling to his waist simbolizing the championship title. Rey:" Is my life! My love! My reason for living! I told you that the SVO Championship is gain through sacrifice, and I sacrificed everything to gain a title shot! I have lost blood in the name of that title! I have sacrificed my body time and time again! I have sacrificed love, family, hell I sacrificed my entire life to try to become the SVO Champion. So for you to say that I will be "proud" to be the champion...that doesn't even begin to cover it. That title is all I want, it's my reason for living, the only reason I have to keep going. It is my everything, and for Jay Wildman to beat me this Sunday...it's the equivalent of dreaming about killing me, because what Wildman is doing, is taking away my life. The SVO Championship IS my life, and Wildman thinks he's gonna continue to take it away from me?" He scoffs. Rey:" And the fans...the fans CHEER for Jay Wildman, as he sets out to take another man's life...they claim him their hero, a true american...one of the great ones." He shakes his head. Rey:" The ONLY way Jay Wildman walks out of Showdown as the winner, is if he kills me in that ring! That's what it's gonna have to take, and if you think about it, it's only fair. His goal at Showdown, is to further take from me the one thing that matters to me, to take away that which has become my life...it is only right that, to do so, he would have to kill me. That's how it should be, and that is what Jay Wildman is gonna have to be willing to do, if he wants to beat Rey Rosario. You wanna take a man's life? Then you damn well better be prepared to look him in the eyes when you do it!" Simon hesitates for a bit, obviously a little unsure of what to make of Rey Rosario's disturbed mind. Simon:" Well certainly the personal trials you have gone through since joining SVO has been well documented. And taking into account what you just said, what would a loss at Showdown do to Rey Rosario?" Now it is Rey's turn to hesitate, as he takes a brief moment to think about it. Rey:" You know...losing at Showdown isn't an option, it can't be!" Simon:" I understand, but what if..." Rey:" What if???" He asks, angrily. Rey:" Let me ask you something, Austin! What if somebody shoved his hand down your throat and pulled out your heart? Huh? Then what?" Simon:" Well I can't really answer that." Rey:" Then why the hell are you expecting me to? Because that is exactly what losing the match would be to me, it would be like someone ripping my heart from my chest, it would be the end of the line. You see, asking me "what if you lose" would be like me asking you "what if you die today?"...It's something that you don't think about, it's something that you don't want to think about, and it's a question that you can't possibly answer." Simon:" I suppose I see your point." He says, with a slight nod. Rey:" In all it's complexity, it's actually straight forward, and beautifully simple; I will beat Jay Wildman at Showdown. Why? Because the alternative is unacceptable. And because, while I am sure that Jay Wildman wants to win this match, and keep me away from the title....I NEED to win this match, I NEED to get a title shot. And need is always a stronger motivation than want. If you want something, you will go to certain lengths to achieve it. But if you NEED that something, you will go to ANY lengths to achieve it. And at the end of the day, when all is said and done, and Showdown is over and done...the story of the match, will be that Jay Wildman's want, was trumped by my need." He says, before pausing shortly. Rey:" You see, wanting something pretty much boils down to greed. You want it, but you don't really need it. But when you need something, when you have to have it just to survive, then you will do whatever you need to, to get it. I have no doubt that Jay Wildman wants to beat me. I have no doubt that he wants to win, so he can call himself a true Champion, and look at himself in the mirror, holding the SVO title belt and getting off on it. I have no doubt that winning the match would stroke Wildman's ego to no end, but all this, all of it...you add it all up, and it still doesn't equal need. No matter how you twist and turn it, no matter what angle you come at it from, it doesn't change what it is at it's core; It's greed. It is want. It is NOT need." He then looks past Simon, and directs his comments right at the camera. Rey:" Jay Wildman...just wait until you see what I got in store for you at Showdown. But remember this one thing Jay, when everything is over and done with, know that you can't blame your downfall on me, or anybody else...because the thing that is bringing about your downfall...is your own greed!" With that, Rey walks right past Simon Austin and the cameraman, opens the door and leaves the room, slamming the door behind him, as the scene fades to black. |
