The website was a fascinating thing to Chezina.

Misty had spent long hours working on it, even longer hours uploading video to it, her efforts had brought at least three hundred people all claiming to be fans to his site, they populated various forums where they talked amongst themselves, asked him questions, and gave him support.

A year ago he wouldn’t have believed something like this was possible, drifting from place to place on his bike having just left his fathers home Chezina was lost in a physical sense and even more so in a spiritual sense of the word.

Praying for guidance he’d simply banished all worry about his future and let himself go where he felt he needed to go, he’d seen beautiful things and horrible things, he was reminded how terrible the world could be and at the same time he was shown how much beauty existed and how lucky he was to be alive.

When he’d come to Chicago he’d felt as if he was arriving in a place that he needed to be in, unsure of his purpose he drifted aimlessly for a week or so, working odd jobs and staying in a motel, it was then he met Kevin, and Kevin had in turn introduced him to Marcus.

From there life seemed like a blur, the wrestling world was a fast track life where if you took time to blink you could very well miss something crucial, it was filled with a variety of ugliness and if you looked hard enough you could find every single sin God despised, every single sin right out there in the open to be seen and sampled by all, men and women that built themselves around their sin of choice, be it Lust, Greed, or Jealousy.

But there was beauty in the wrestling world, and the beauty wasn’t hard to find, it came in the form of thousands of screaming fans chanting their favorite wrestler's name night after night, booing the ones they hated, raising up the ones they loved and casting down the ones the despised, they were the ultimate Judge and Jury, brought there by duty and the price of the ticket they paid for.

The fans at Chezina’s site didn’t have to be there and yet they were, they called themselves “The Faithful” after Chezina’s constant catch Phrase “Have Faith” “We have Faith” they told him, and it made him smile, then his smile slowly vanished.

In his current state of mind all he was going to do was let them down.

With a sigh he logged out of the website and shut his computer off, getting up he decided he needed to go for a walk to clear his head, standing up he reached for his jacket and slid it on, Josh who had been reading a Magazine nearby looked up, Misty lay asleep with her head in his lap, her chest rising and falling gently and a look of utter peace on her face.

“I need to go out for a bit Josh, I need to do some thinking”

Josh moved to get up drawing a muffled protest from Misty

“I’ll grab my jacket” he said

“No…stay” Chezina said “I need to be alone for a bit”

“I wouldn’t recommend it kid, if something happens to you I need to be there” Josh said

“I know Josh, and if something happens you’ll be the first person I call” he promised the man “I know you’re here to watch my back but right now I need to be alone…besides you look busy at the moment”

Josh looked down at the sleeping Misty and sighed

“You promise me you’ll call if you get into trouble kid?”

“Promise” Chezina said heading for the door

“For the record I’m not happy with this” Josh called out “But for the record I understand why you need to be alone, so just be careful ok kid?”

Promising Josh again that he’d be careful Chezina slipped out the door and headed down stairs, stepping outside into the cold Chicago air he drew in a deep breath and sighed to himself, being truly alone for the first time in almost a week felt better than he’d thought it would, Josh’s constant presence hadn’t been smothering him but it felt good to be alone with his thoughts.

He thought about taking his bike but then decided against it, putting one foot in front of the other he let his legs take him wherever they wanted, fifteen minutes into his walk he heard a horn honking behind him, turning he saw Kevin as he pulled up next to him.

“Hey I was headed to Cliff’s for a beer…you want to come?” he asked, his friend looked like he hadn’t slept well in the last three days, Chezina decided it would be better if he came along, it had been awhile since he’d been able to spend any time with Kevin anyway.

Getting into the car he put his thoughts on hold, no matter how much he thought about them he couldn’t seem to put them in order anyway.

--

“So how is Lacey?” Chezina asked

Kevin looked up from his second beer and sighed

“She still has nightmares” he said “I can’t imagine the hell she’s gone through man, it makes me want to kill that bastard but someone beat me to the punch” he said “She wakes up screaming and it takes me forever to calm her down, she can’t sleep in the same bed with me any more, and if I touch her she has to be watching me while I do it”

His friends voice was filled with ever increasing pain

“I tell her I love her and she can’t say it back” Kevin said finishing his second beer and pouring himself a third from the pitcher on the table, Chezina was glad he’d come along, he was definitely going to have to drive his friend home

“She’ll say it back Kevin, she does love you” Chezina said “It’s just going to take some time”

“I know…I cook for her, I clean for her, God Chezina there used to be such a light in her eyes, so much life” Kevin said rubbing at his eyes, a tear slipped down his cheek regardless of the effort he was trying to put into not crying “She tells me she’s damaged goods and there’s no way I could ever want her again, and I reassure her over and over and over…” Kevin said shaking his head and draining half his beer in a few swallows

Looking up he motioned for Cliff to bring over another pitcher of beer but Chezina caught the man's eyes and shook his head, He figured he was doing his friend a favor and he’d thank him for it later.

“Can’t imagine what she’s been through” Kevin repeated “Want to help her…so bad man, but the truth is I can’t, I can’t relate to what she’s been through…I can’t…we’re on different pages Chezina…different worlds” he shook his head “Don’t even know if she loves me any more…her eyes man…like she’s dead inside…and when she wakes screaming….her screams…like she’s living it all over again…no matter what I do I can’t convince her it’s ok…Can’t convince her…just can’t….give anything if she’d just look at me once and tell me she loves me…”

Tears flowing freely Kevin finished off his beer and poured the remains of the pitcher into the bottom of the glass

“Where the fuck is the beer?” he grumbled looking around for Cliff

“I think you’ve had enough” Chezina said reaching out and grabbing his friend's hand “Look Kevin, Lacey knows you’re there for her, she knows you love her, and she loves you too, even though she can’t say it right now, you’re doing the best thing you can do for her by being there for her, you’ve got to be strong for her now, she’ll come around, I know she will”

Through tear filled eyes Kevin looked up at his friend

“Really? I mean really Chezina? Don’t fuck with me here man…I-I’m about ready to snap here…I just can’t take it”

“You can take it Kevin, she needs you now more than ev…” Chezina began but was cut off when a mocking voice interrupted him

“Hey I didn’t know this was a gay bar!” the voice laughed “Look at those two fucking fruits holding hands! Ha!”

Chezina turned and calmly regarded the two men standing over them, leering down at them with mocking grins on their faces the other man elbowed his buddy

“Hey that’s Chezina Rodriguez man…I should have know he was a fag…he wrestles other men”

“Oh yeah! No shit man!” the other laughed “I thought he looked familiar…hey he’s wrestling Xtreme Fusion ain’t he? Guess he likes the black dick too! Hey what are you doing here with this guy? You trying to pick him up and take him back to your hotel room for a little “Practice?”

“Gentlemen now is not the time…” Chezina began, but Kevin’s look of tear stained grief had suddenly changed to one of simmer anger

“The fuck did you say?” he growled leaning forward “You don’t talk shit about my friend like that” he warned

“Kevin it’s ok they don’t know what they’re talking about” Chezina said trying to calm his friend

“Ha! See? He’s sticking up for his Butt buddy!” one of the men laughed

“One more time…” Kevin said getting to his feet

“What?” one of the men asked

“Call me or my friend a fag one more time asshole…” Kevin said flexing his fists

Stepping close to Kevin the man grinned and leaned in whispering in his ear

“Fag…”

Kevin’s foot snapped up catching the man in the groin, taken by surprise all the man could do was double over in pain, Kevin launched himself at the man and tackled him to the ground.

It all happened in the blink of an eye, so quick that Chezina and the other man could only stand there, the second man was first to react reaching down to grab Kevin and pull him off, Chezina did the only thing he could think of…he hit him.

His fist crashed into the side of the man's jaw, the impact hurt his own fist but the adrenaline kicked in and banished the pain, before the man could strike again Chezina grabbed him by the shirt and drove his fist right between the man's eyes.

Dropping to the ground the man uttered a groan and lost consciousness, suddenly someone was clamping his arm around Chezina’s throat from behind, apparently the two men had friends, Chezina smashed his head back into the man holding him and felt the snap of a nose, a sharp cry of pain later the arm unclamped from around his throat and he could breath, sucking in a breath Chezina grabbed the man's arm and flipped him over his shoulder to the ground, twisting the man's arm he held him down and put a foot on the back of his head, turning to look at Kevin he saw him engaged with another attacker while the first man lay bleeding on the floor his face a mass of bruises and blood, another man approached the two with a bottle raised over his head, Chezina opened his mouth to shout out a warning but then something slammed over his head.

The bottle shattered and his world spun at crazy angles, he saw Kevin go down out of the corner of his eye and stay down, two men now advanced on him, staggering forward he met them with a growl, he dropped the first man with a punch to the nose and tried to kick the second one, but in his dizzy state his kick was weak and easily blocked, the man drove a fist into Chezina’s eye and Chezina dropped to the ground, he thought he felt someone kick him in the ribs and the sounds of people shouting but it was all growing more distant with each second that ticked by, rather than focus on what was being said it was just easier to just close his eyes and let the darkness sweep him away…

--

Floating there in the darkness Chezina had no recollection of time passing, his first thought when the darkness lifted was the splitting pain in his head, sitting up slowly with a groan his second thought was that the floor he was laying on was cold cement.

Opening his eyes slowly he squinted against the light coming from overhead and the first thing he saw was bars.

“Oh Lord…” Chezina said getting a better look at his surroundings, he was in jail! Rubbing his head he looked around wanting to talk to someone in a uniform and explain what had happened, but the only person he saw was Kevin in the next cell over sleeping, his chest rising and falling he was snoring softly.

Getting to his feet he walked towards the bars, but a wave of dizziness came over him forcing him to sit down on a nearby bench, burying his face in his hands he tried to rationalize what had happened but his head spun and the best thing he could do was keep himself from throwing up.

“If my father could see me now…” Chezina groaned

“Probably a good thing he can’t eh son?”

Chezina looked up in the direction of the voice and froze, it was perhaps the largest man he’d ever seen in his life, arms covered in tattoo’s and hands big enough to crack open his skull like an egg, getting up he made his way over to Chezina, he towered over Chezina.

((God help me there’s no way I can fight him off)) Chezina thought to himself his fear apparent by the look on his face.

The big man paid his fear no heed, sitting down on the bench next to him he looked down at him

“That Gold cross around your neck son…is that a fashion statement?”

Chezina blinked looking down at it, did the man want it? He guessed losing the cross would be the least of the bad things that could happen to him, he reached up to take it off but the big man raised his hand and shook his head

“I’m not robbing you son…I just asked you a question”

Slowly Chezina began to realize the man’s body language was relaxed, his voice calm, he’d yet to utter a single threat to Chezina.

“No sir…it’s not a fashion statement”

“So you believe do you?”

“Believe?” Chezina asked

“Aye, you believe in God then? If that cross isn’t a fashion statement”

“Of course sir…I believe in God, my mother and father raised me to believe…well my mother raised me to believe…my father he…”

The big man waited patiently, when Chezina didn’t respond he ventured a guess

“Your daddy was a preacher wasn’t he?”

Chezina nodded

“I can see you’re a southern boy” the big man continued “Guessin your daddy was a passionate man full of fire and brimstone, brought the word of God to people every week, sometimes did his job a little too well”

“You could say that” Chezina said leaning back against the bars, the big man's voice was calm and soothing “He taught me to fear God”

The big man nodded

“Sounds like there’s a story here” he smiled “Something along the lines of why you’re sitting here and your daddy ain't bailing you out”

“I left home” Chezina said “I couldn’t take it any more, I wanted to live my life, I believed in God but I didn’t believe God wanted me to spend my life fearing him, I was capable of so much and I wasn’t going to waste my life being afraid because my father said so!”

The big man smiled putting a hand on his shoulder

“Good man” he said “You want to know what I think of God son?” he asked pulling his hand away

“I would sir, yes” Chezina said turning his full attention to the man.

“I think God doesn’t care what religion we are, All Religions are basically about the same thing son, they’re about celebrating God, I think the only thing God wants from us is for us to “Believe” in him, be you Christian, Catholic, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Mormon…or any other denomination of faith, all God wants from us is to “Believe” in him”

Turning to Chezina the man met his eyes

“After all don’t you want people to believe in you?”

Chezina nodded

“I think we all do sir”

“Then we’re on the same page son, that’s good” the big man said “If a Christian man or woman believes in God with all their hearts and get up every morning ready to celebrate him and all he’s done then who are you or I to tell them they’re wrong” he smiled “Only the jealous and the fearful would try to take that away from a person, to tell them they have the “Wrong” faith”

As the man continued Chezina found his attention was riveted on the man

“Then you’ve got the extremists, the zealots, those who kill in the name of God” he shook his head “It’s my humble opinion that those are the people that hell is reserved for, God doesn’t want us killing in his name son, that was one of his commandments after all…Thou Shalt Not Kill, a man or woman that Kills in the name of God doesn’t have God in their heart”

Looking at Chezina as if he was reading something Chezina couldn’t see the man speak again

“You’re here right now because you’re having a crisis of Faith aren’t you son?”

“I’m here because I was trying to keep my friend from getting jumped at a bar sir I…” he paused as the man's gaze met his own again “I…I’m here because of that…but I am having a…crisis of sorts, not so much in my faith but in my purpose…I’m wondering if I’m doing what I was put here to do sir, and I’m troubled with the thoughts I’ve been having lately”

The big man nodded, putting an arm around Chezina he spoke, rather then be alarmed Chezina found the gesture comforting.

“We all have these Dark nights of the soul son, it’s a frightening thing, but that’s just God testing us, if you believe in God than he believes in you, he knows you’ll make the right choice in the end, and deep down even though you’re not aware of it…you are too”

“But what if I make the wrong choice?” Chezina asked looking up at the man

Chuckling softly the man smiled

“Son do you believe in God?”

“Yes sir of course I do” Chezina said without a doubt

“Then God believes in you” the man said “All you need to do is Have faith Chezina, have faith in God and have faith in yourself, do you hear me Chezina?”

“Chezina?”

The sound of Marcus’s voice made Chezina turn away, he smiled as he saw Marcus and Josh standing on the other side of the bars

“Who are you talking to?” Marcus asked with a puzzled look on his face

Chezina blinked and turned around

“I was talking to my friend here he…” his words died on his lips as he saw the spot next to him was empty, he looked around the cell wide eyed but there was no one else there, he was alone “I…He was right here Marcus…” Chezina said turning back to the bars “I’m not crazy! I…”

“You’ve got a concussion kid” Josh said “You see what happens when I don’t come with you?” he said folding his arms across his chest “You go out and get into a bar fight and have all the fun”

“It doesn’t feel like fun now” Chezina said rubbing his head “I don’t think it ever felt like fun in the first place” he groaned

“It would have been fun if I was there…” Josh grumbled

“How’s Kevin?” Marcus said turning to look down at his “Son” sleeping on the bench

“He’s going to wake up with a hellacious headache if mine is any sign of what he’s going to have…his will be worse, he’s torn up about Lacey” Chezina said putting his hands on the bars “Can we get out of here?” he asked “I can make bail for the both of us”

Marcus shook his head

“I talked to Cliff, he said he’s not going to press charges against you two, he said you two were attacked and you were just defending Kevin, the five that attacked you though will have a hefty bill to pay when they regain consciousness”

“Five people?” Josh said in disbelief “You beat up five people? Now that would have been fun!” he complained

“The cut on the back of my head tells me otherwise” Chezina reminded him, he turned around and looked around the cell again trying to figure out where the big man had gone, had it been some kind of trick? He couldn’t fathom how “He was right here…” Chezina said softly

A few moments later he was on the other side of the bars and Josh was picking Kevin’s sleeping form up and carrying him out the door, Chezina turned to look at the cell one last time and shook his head, he wasn’t sure what had happened or how he could explain it, but as he turned to leave he still felt the weight and the comforting reassurance of the man's arm around his shoulders.

--

“This is my fault…” Lacey said as she watched Marcus cover Kevin up on the couch “He’s been worried sick over me, he spends half the night trying to calm me down from my nightmares, he waits on me hand and foot and I…” she trailed off and looked up at Chezina as if he was going to judge her

“It’s not your fault” Chezina told her “He does it because he loves you…he just needed to talk to me and blow off some steam, he got into the fight because those men were questioning our sexuality and he didn’t want them talking down to me…he was sticking up for me” he smiled

Lacey shook her head

“How can he love me? I’m damaged goods, god I feel so dirty Chezina, no matter how many times I shower I just can’t get clean” she said her lower lip trembling

“He does love you” Chezina said “When he wakes up why don’t you ask him why? It’s sounds like you need that assurance right now, and he’ll be happy to tell you all the way’s he does love you”

Lacey turned and wrapped her arms around Chezina in a hug, Chezina was surprised at first but then he returned the hug, she stiffened at first but then relaxed in is arms

“I love him so much…” she said her voice muffled by his shoulder “So much it scares me”

“Then tell him that” Chezina said “Because believe me…he really needs to hear you say it”

“I will” Lacey said smiling up at him with tears in her eyes “As soon as he wakes up”

“Good” Chezina said letting her go “Now if you’ll forgive me I need to lay down before I fall down” he smiled “If you two need me you know where I am”

Leaving the apartment Chezina went back to his own, he remembered a vague conversation with Misty and then the next thing he knew he was laying face down on his bed.

And then he knew nothing.

-On Air-

Chezina sits at the kitchen table, looking at the camera his face shows every bit of the punishment he’s taken.

“DVD…Asesino…it’s getting closer now, soon it’s going to be time for our match, and really there’s not much left for me to say, but I do have some things to tell you two, so I hope you’re going to listen”

“I’m not afraid of either one of you, not on my worst day would I be afraid of either one of you, I go into this match with no hesitations and no fears involving either of you, you have your history’s in SVO, you have your careers, you have long lists of accomplishments, but in the end you two are only men, just like me, I’m just a man, in the end despite all our accomplishments and the things we’ve done that we’re proud of, in the end this match could end all four of our careers as we succumb to our injuries and find out we’re not immortal in the end after all”

“I could judge you two based on what you’ve done, I could say you two make me sick, that you don’t deserve the Honour of holding the Tag Team Titles, but in the end that would be just giving you two what you want, and besides…”

Chezina looks into the camera

“Judge not lest ye be judged in turn”

Leaning back in his chair Chezina Rodriguez smiles

“At Destiny we’re going to climb to tremendous heights and battle for the Tag Team Titles, but the way I see it DVD…Asesino, the way I see it I’ve been climbing a ladder ever since I came here to SVO, and people have been trying to knock me off the whole time, yet I’m still here waiting to climb to the next rung, and when it’s all over I will fall, I know that, the bottom line is I’m not afraid to climb higher…and I’m certainly not afraid to fall”

Pointing a finger at the Camera Chezina speaks

“As we get closer to Destiny ask yourselves DVD…Asesino…are you afraid to fall?”

Smiling Chezina reaches over to shut off the camera

“Whatever your answers gentlemen after Destiny Two of us will know for sure what it’s like to fall”

Saying this Chezina shuts off the Camera and the screen goes black
