Reality Killed the DVD Star

Well, One Shot was less of a hindrance than I had presumed. Of course, being mortally wounded, suffering from several point blank bullets through the flesh, forced to compete under the threat of blackmail, coming off a match where I'd just put my own tag partner out of action, AND spending the entire christmas recovering... I was actually pretty optimistic for my usually pesimistic self.

But hey, you win some, you lose some right? Coming third in the One Shot rumble didn't upset me, rather gave me some confidence. To defeat the entire SvO roster, only to lose out to frickin' BBD and Amos, a guy who was resting his entire career on the match, seems like quite an achievement to me. But I digress... The thing that really gets me is, as always, Matt Anderson.

After proving that despite every snide remark he's made at me in the past months since I joined his ranks, I can actually fight with the best, he's put me in the second match on the card, a place which gets overshadowed, overlooked and just ignored in some cases, against none other than JVD's twin brother, DVD.

Not that I don't have any respect for DVD, of course.

We've faced on multiple occasions, and he's been one of the five men to actually serve me a loss in my time here. Granted, it was in my return match, and it was Eddie Sinclair who actually took the pinfall from him, but nonetheless, its a notch in the win column for him and a notch in the loss for me. Especially after his latest promo, when he blew a shitload of sunshine up my ass, told the world he tried to fashion himself on me, then kinda overdid the bit where he respects me, and ended up sounding like he masturbated over me every night.

But no. I'm proud of the guy. Even though it wasn't him that made the move on Cassandra, he still showed his true feelings. Only thing though, is that he's lost the tough guy image that he protected and built for pretty much his entire career. Thats the price you pay for crashing back to reality.

Huh. Video killed the Radio star.

Reality killed the fucking DVD star.

Ethan Riders Apartment
Psychiatrist Meeting

"Now, I know you've both been through a lot of trauma recently. I'm here to help you get through it."

Las Vegas was in the depths of winter, and a mixture of dew and ice crept its way along the windows. Ethan and Amy Rider were sat on Ethans couch, their hired pyschiatrist perched like a bird on a chair, just a few feet from them. Jane Morgan was exceptionally attractive, and Amy was glaring at her with a bitter admiration. Jane was dressed in a long cardigan that reached her knees, and two T-Shirts to protect her from the cold. She had long, wavy bonde hair that bundled up on her shoulders, and round blue eyes.

"Well, you know. S'not been that bad. I've only found out my Dad murdered Kennedy, had some Russian criminal mastermind and his Bond Girl partner chase me through Vegas, put two bullets in my body, send me toppling off a roof... Then have Matt Anderson force me to compete, far from able, in the biggest match so far in my career, THEN he puts me in another match this week.." I retort, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

Jane looks slightly taken aback, obviously expecting me to be distraught after the tragic past month. But she recollects herself, smiling and turning to Amy. Now, I think its definete that my darling sister needs more help than I do... Considering she's had less to cope with, when she first found out about our father, she went to the brink of suicide.

"How are you coping then, Miss..?"

"Amy."

"Well, Amy.."

Amy bites her lip, and a small tear rolls from her eye, but she uickly brushes it away. Whenever somebody asks how she's doing, she thinks its some kind of sick joke. I hate seeing her like this. She was always the rock in our little gang. The one that brought me and Joey up. Now she's nothing but a snivelling wreck, always around the house. The "Slit Me" tattoo on her wrist still hasn't been removed, and she's taken to wearing Emo style clothing, her hair nothing but a ragged mess.

"I-I-I'm.. doing 'kay." She replies to Jane, shrinking slowly back into the leather couch. Jane pulls her chair forward, trying to engage Amy into the conversation. Amy closes her eyes, blocking out all signs of life, as her typically pale skn turns an ever whiter shade.

"Sorry, Jane." I quickly jump in to rescue the psychiatrist, who seems completely lost.

"Thats okay, Ethan. I completely understand... We've all been through rough times. Now, how are you feeling ahead of Showdown? I've been reading up on your career... It seems that despite all this, you've been doing quite well. I believe you have some history in fighting?"

Yeah, I'm a fucking assassin, bitch.

"Yea, I guess. Martial Arts tournaments and stuff."

"But you had no parents?"

"A good pyschiatrist would know all this, Jane."

"Are you impying that I'm not very good at my job?"

"Thats exactly what I'm implying."

Jane stands up, her face slightly red. She picks up her bag and quickly struts to the door, opening it in one fluid motion, before flicking her hair and turning back to me.

"I'm obviously going to get no where with this family... but its my job, so I'll be back next week, Ethan."

Washington DC
Queens Hotel - Room #37

"What the actual fuck?"

Dimitri Yacobs had rented one of the shoddiest rooms in the Queens Hotel, although they were all pretty impressive. The Russian mastermind was overlooking the city, the streets bustling with the rush hour traffic and crowds below him. The sun was slowly setting, and Flick Kendall was sat on the bed behind him.

"I'm afraid so, Dimitri."

"But I personally put two bloody bullets in him! I saw him fall!"

"I too, boss. But somehow, he's walking. He's alive, he's running, and he's fighting again on Showdown."

"This is a joke."

Dimitri turns again, slowly striding to the door, where the ever present Colt revolver lays. He picks it up, inserting a magazine with skilful grace. He glances at Flick.

"Find him, and kill him. Do not fail."
