Dichotomy – Are you a Friend or are you a Foe? Part 1

Showdown #64 came and Sam retained his TapOut Championship. After his championship match, Amos was once again greeted by Matt Anderson backstage, and given an ultimatum. Be a friend to the Company, or be a foe to the Company.. the choice was Sam's.

Colt Cooper. James Von Drake. Howard Thompson. Ethan Rider. Lucy Von Drake. Clarissa English. Serenity..

oh, and Matt Anderson himself..

Very truly the most dominant faction in the Sanctioned Violent Organization today.. and as far as Amos knows the most dominant faction in the history of the SVO to date. Clearly, only a fool would choose to oppose such a mass of talented wrestlers. So why is this such a hard choice? Of course, anyone who is asked to join the Company should be thrilled from just the offer alone.. and joining should never even be considered a choice. It's like the choice between Death or a Candy Bar.. of course everyone wants the candy bar.

But this isn't that simple. Cooper, Von Drake, Howie and Rider aren't the easiest to get along with.. not to mention that Matt Anderson has been gunning to make Sam's life miserable ever since the TapOut Submission Elimination Challenge. Besides, Sam had never asked for anyone's help.. doesn't think he needs it.. and doesn't care who believes him. So maybe, just maybe, joining the Company isn't so great after all..

..decisions decisions..

In the midst of all that.. Joseph Equinox.. all-around good guy that stands against Howard “The Bank” Thompson and the Company and everything that they stand for.. Joey got drilled by Grimnir last week, and it seems that Matt Anderson is attempting to make Joey's life miserable by booking him against Amos now..

Also last week, we had seen Lucifer, Samuel Amos' longtime manager and confidant, bow out of service and make his exit from Sam's life. He would make his exit only with a grin and a few last words of advice.. he would then turn and walk out of that restaurant never to be seen again.

Samuel Amos, the Infamous One, was lonely.

Friday December 10th – Las Vegas, Nevada

“I came here to see Carlie..”

“Listen Mister, I don't know who you're talking about..”

This was starting to frustrate him. Every time that Sam calls this place, he gets the same response.. who's Carlie? Everyone pretends like they don't know who she is.. when Amos knows that she's the best damn pole-dancer that the club has.. let alone the fact that she is actually smart and actually has ambitions in her life. This time, Sam was done asking. He decided that the only way to find the girl was to go back down to that club and physically find her..

..its just too bad that he's pissed off every other employee that the strip club has.

Samuel Amos - “For the very last time.. I'm not a crazed lunatic that's trying to kidnap her.. I just need to talk to her.”

Employee - “..isn't that what all of the crazed lunatics say?”

Samuel Amos - “Ha.. Ha.. Ha..” The sarcasm was palpable. “That was so funny I almost forgot to laugh.”

Employee - “Even if I did know where she was.. I couldn't--”

Sam cut him off.

Samuel Amos - “I know.. you couldn't tell me because it's against the rules. You could get.. oh my god.. FIRED from your SHITTY little position as a DOORMAN. Well fuck me silly. I'm soooo fuckin' sorry about that.”

The poor guy doesn't seem to happy with Sam right about now.

Samuel Amos – In a hushed voice. “Listen.” He motions the guy closer as he reaches into his pocket. “I'm sorry, okay? Look.. I'm a very popular, and powerful man around here. I have money.. see? Here's a hundred big ones..”

He slips the one hundred dollar bill into the man's jacket pocket as if this guy were a pauper.

Samuel Amos - “All I want is to very quickly speak to Carlie.. and I'll leave. Hell.. you could watch me while I'm talking to her. That's all I want.. and then I'll go away.. and leave this place for good. Do you understand?”

The man takes the one hundred dollar bill out of his pocket, looks at it for a moment, and pushes it back into the palm of Sam's hand.

Employee - “Heh.” He laughs a little. “Ya think dat a C-Note is worth my job ta me? Ya got ta be kiddin me.. what do ya take me for.. some kinda fool? Hah!”

All that this man had to do (in Sam's mind) was cooperate. He refused.

Sam's fist clinched with rage. This doorman was not only disrespectful, but he was speaking loud enough in a way that other people in the strip club had actually turned their heads away from the girls and to them. He could feel the eyes staring at him.. He could feel his headache start to return. He just saw the cocky little undeserving smirk on that guy's face and he just snapped.

Sam's fist cocked back, and in a moment's notice.. was buried deep into the doorman's face. The doorman flew backward and hit the ground.. and in the next few moments it had seemed that everyone in the entire club was up and running over to their position.

“Hey!! What the hell are ya doin!!”

“What the hell is your problem?!”

Sam took the one hundred dollar bill and crumbled it up.. throwing it onto the downed doorman.

Samuel Amos - “There, take the damn money.. you're going to need it to fix your face.”

It was apparent that the stress had been getting to him.. and as more people rushed over to help the doorman back to his feet it was also apparent that he was not welcomed here anymore.. so Sam quickly turned and exited the club.

Sam made it 10 feet outside the front door before he realized that he had not accomplish what he had set out to do. Being out an extra hundred bucks didn't help either. Sam couldn't help but to look up at the Vegas night sky and wonder why everything seemed to be falling apart.

Samuel Amos - “Bullshit.. fucking bullshit.”

Still the TapOut Champion. Still the fastest rising star in the Sanctioned Violence Organization. It seems that when everything is going good in Wrestling that his life suffers.. and when everything is going good in life that wrestling suffers..

“Hey you.. get back here!” A voice rang out from behind him as he continued to walk away. “I want you to be here when the police get here!!”

Samuel Amos - “Fuck.. Off!!”

Sam didn't even turn around to reply. Whoever was yelling at him from the front door of the club had better not be following him.. or they might get a beating ten times that little punch that took out that doorman.

Sam just kept on walking.. but then.. someone standing in front of him caught his attention.

“Hey.. what's going on..?”

He looked up.. it was Carlie.. of all people.

Samuel Amos - “Carlie? I've been trying to get a hold of you for a week now!”

Carlie - “What's all of the commotion going on..? Why are you.. what did you do?”

Samuel Amos - “Look.. if they would have just told me where you were then I wouldn't have had to have punched that guy..”

Carlie - “You punched someone?! Who did you punch?!”

Samuel Amos - “The doorman..?”

Carlie - “You punched Larry?! How could you?!”

Samuel Amos - “Listen to me.. Carlie.. I know that you probably think that I'm crazy or that I'm some kind of stalker or something.. but I need to talk to you and you need to quit stripping.”

Carlie - “What?”

Samuel Amos - “You want to be a psychiatrist, right? You just need the money to get through school.. right?”

Carlie - “Yeah.. wow.. you remember all of that? Normally the clients that I talk to don't remember any of that-”

Samuel Amos - “I'm not a client.. well.. not that kind of client.”

Suddenly.. behind the two of them.. a police car turns the corner and pulls up in front of the club.

Samuel Amos - “We've got to go.”

Carlie - “What? Why? I've got a shift-”

Samuel Amos - “Now!!”

Twenty Minutes Later – Amos' Hotel Room

The hotel room door closes as Amos and Carlie make it safely back without Sam being stopped by the police. Sam quickly removes his leather jacket and tosses it on the bed before inviting the lovely Carlie to sit down and to make herself comfortable.

Samuel Amos - “I'm sorry that things have to be this way.. I just.. I lose it sometimes and that guy really pissed me off.”

Carlie - “I know.. you really shouldn't let people get to you the way that you do.”

Samuel Amos - “..is that your professional opinion.. Miss?”

Carlie - “Young. Miss Young. And yes, yes it is.”

Sam smiled.

Carlie Young - “So let me get this straight.. you want me.. to manage you in the World Wrestling Organization?”

Samuel Amos - “Haha.. close.. but no. It's Sanctioned Violence Organization.”

Carlie Young - “You know what I meant!” She stuck her tongue out. “You're a wrestler and you want me to manage you? But I don't know the first thing about managing!”

Samuel Amos - “I know.. just don't think of it as managing. Just think of yourself as getting experience as a counselor.. a 24/7 therapist for me to make sure that I keep my head on straight.. ”

She smiled.

Carlie Young - “I can see why you would need someone like that.”

Samuel Amos - “Luke.. that old manager I was telling you about.. he was a great guy honestly.. he taught me how to take my anger and use it as a powerful driving force to be the best wrestler I can be. He did a wonderful job and to be quite honest I'm quite successful in the SVO and I get richer by the week. But he left and to be honest he was just about the only real friend that I've had..”

Carlie Young - “Aww.. Why did Luke leave?”

Samuel Amos - “I don't know. Honestly.. some bullshit about that he's taught me everything that he could and that his job was basically done with me.. I don't understand it. But to be honest, he mentioned you before he left.. said that you would be a good person that I should be around..”

Carlie Young - “He did?” She thought about it for a moment. “Hmm.. Interesting..”

Samuel Amos - “What's interesting about it?”

Carlie Young - “I dunno.. I just find it interesting I suppose.”

Samuel Amos - “Well, you're the shrink.. you tell me.”

Carlie stood up from the bed and smiled.. as she stretched her arms towards the ceiling..

Carlie Young - “Well, to be honest Sam it's kinda creepy..”

Samuel Amos - “Aww.. come on.. he meant it as a compliment.. you have to trust me.. he must see something in you if he would say something like that..”

Carlie Young - “..and I'm not quite sure about this manager-thing. I don't know why I should..”

Samuel Amos - “Because.. you're smart.. funny.. hell.. You're going to make a lot more money just out of my pocket then you ever would have being a stripper for all of those other guys..”

Carlie Young - “What if I like being a stripper?” She grinned.

Samuel Amos - “Well.. you could always strip for me.” He grinned. “I sure could have a pole installed..”

Carlie Young - “I really don't know about all of that..”

Samuel Amos - “Fine. I was joking about all of that.. but in all seriousness.. you're probably fired as of right now anyway.. for not showing up. You really don't have a job to go back to.. and you'd be stupid if you did. What I'm offering you is a King's Ransom just to keep me company. That's all. Nothing sexual about it.”

She grinned.

Carlie Young - “..and what makes you think I believe you?”

Samuel Amos - “Fine. Write up a fuckin contract.. put it in writing.. I don't care. Put it in writing that if I even look at you wrong then you can have all of my money!! It doesn't matter to me at this point. If I don't have someone to talk to that isn't going to try and make me tap out to a chicken wing.. I'm going to fucking shoot myself in this very spot.”

Carlie Young - “Tap Out to a Chicken Wing?! What?!”

Samuel Amos - “Wrestling terms sweetie. But I need to know.. are you going to do this? Or are you not? Because if you're not.. then I need to go back down to that club and help you get your old job back..”

Carlie Young - “Fine..”

Samuel Amos - “You'll do it? Really?”

Carlie Young - “I need to think about it.”

Samuel Amos - “What? Why?”

Carlie Young - “I don't know.. I just need to think about it. You're asking me to leave Vegas.. to travel around with you on these tours that these wrestlers do.. right? And one day I'm walking to work.. and then all of a sudden a client comes up and grabs me and says that we need to go because the cops are after him and he causes you to lose your job.. you know how I feel.. right?”

Samuel Amos - “I guess so..”

Carlie Young - “But you know.. you seem like a good person. I don't exactly know why.. but it seems like I want to trust you. But it also seems like it's too good to be true.. you know? You just up and paying for my college and not expecting anything in return..”

Samuel Amos - “I swear to you.. that this is all that it is..”

Carlie Young - “Well.. Sam.. I just want some time to think about it, okay?”

Samuel Amos - “That's fair..”

Carlie Young - “Thanks.”

Carlie turned.. and began walking back towards the door to exit the room.. but just before her hand reached toward the handle.. Amos spoke up.

Samuel Amos - “You've got my number.. right?”

Carlie Young - “No.” She grinned. “That's okay though. You'll know what my decision is soon enough.”

Samuel Amos - “I hope so.. and I hope that you make the right one.”

Carlie smiled once more.. she then casually turned the knob on the doorway and exited the room.. leaving Sam behind with the sound of the door closing and latching shut. This was one of those moments where he wished that Luke would pull one of his famous pop-in acts.

Sam noticed that his headache was returning.

Samuel Amos - “I can't stand this. Luke leaves me the week before I get the biggest ultimatum of my career. Be a friend to the company, and have Matt Anderson align a very nice world title opportunity in my future.. or be a foe to the company and have my opportunity for a world title become just as much harder as it would have been easier.

..you picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille.

The SVO World Championship is in my future. The fact that people are finally talking about it and the Infamous one in the same breath is proof of something that I've known all along. So why should I act like it's a big deal all of a sudden? Of course.. it's a big deal to people like Matt Anderson.. people like El Locon and Alex Brooks.. people that have doubted me the whole time. But Me? Fuck no.. I knew even back then that I had what it takes.. so I'm not going to patronize those fuckers by pretending that I'm surprised when I'm not.

The problem here is that Matt Anderson knows that there's not much he can do to stop me anymore. He's done put the TapOut strap on me.. to wear me down.. physically and mentally.. to keep me awake at night. So what do I do? I do what any self-respecting champion does and that's defend my title the best way that I know how. Fear, intimidation, tasers.. it's all the same to me. People like Matt Anderson don't follow the rules.. people like Matt Anderson make the rules.

And regardless of whatever rules that he makes.. he knows that his weakness is simply that he's aligned himself with a band of fucking jackass misfits that combined don't equal up to Samuel Amos' jockstrap. Cooper, Rider, Thompson, The Von Drakes.. the only two missing are Bert and Ernie and then you'd have a real group. The fact that Rider has actually killed someone still boggles my mind.. they must've died laughing when he told them that he was a wrestler.

But you know, Anderson doesn't want me to join the company.. he wants me to RUN the company! He wants me to be the leader.. the franchise player.. the superstar of the group. He wants me to pick up little Ethan Rider and baby boy Cooper and teach them a thing or two about wrasslin' holds and escaping submissions.. about breaking rules or.. making up your own rules as you go along and shitting on guys like Joseph Equinox so bad that UnSanctioned will have a new Main Eventer after Joey's six months in rehab.

So what I fucking exaggerate. I hit the InfAMOS.. and not even Roscoe Shame gets up!

..and that is why Matt Anderson has seen the light.. maybe? That is why Anderson figured that if he can't beat me.. he might as well join with me so that I can be the SVO Champ that brings and holds the strap in the Company where it belongs? Hmm.. it all sounds nice.. but who in the hell wants to represent a fuckin' group of wannabes who need to suck on each others teats to survive?

I don't know Anderson.. I've got one hell of a choice to make.. that much is for damn sure. Just don't think that beating up Equinox is a sign that I'm going to choose to side with you.. because I don't care that Equinox doesn't like you.. hell.. to be honest Anderson I still don't like you myself. I understand that business isn't always about working with the people that you like.. but business is exactly like what happens to Equinox this week.

Joey.. it's nothing personal.. but I'm about to chalk off my 10th win on the ever growing list of names that have fallen to the Infamous one! It's not company or no company.. it's much simpler than that.

Samuel Amos always has to be the best. That, my friend, is how I stay Forever Infamous.”
