The Sanctioned Violence Organization's World Heavyweight Champion lost. Lost. ..and not by the jolt of a Taser or a sneaky low-blow shot. His opponent didn't grab the tights or put his feet on the rope for leverage. No, the World Champion lost fair and square.. 1-2-3 in the center of 'that very ring'. He lost to the sheer power of the InfAMOS. He lost at the hands of Samuel Amos. It seems that Samuel Amos has everything going for him right now. The one time victim of El Locon now has a championship belt and a laundry list of victories over the best in the business today. A clean win over the World Champion is like the perfect early-Christmas present to the kid who already has everything else. As a result, The TapOut Championship belt is now worth something. The person that finally makes Samuel Amos submit will shoot to the very top of the sVo in no time.. almost as quickly as Amos has, himself. The reverence of being the TapOut Champion is being the person who can be attacked at any time, any place, every where.. and still has the skill and the resources to carry the strap around proudly. That also means that Sam has to be extra careful with the championship. Right now, Amos believes that he's the best person to hold the TapOut Championship at this time. Sam believes that the sVo needs to believe in him.. not just to produce but to produce every single time he is called to do so. Greatness is not a one time thing. Greatness, is an every day.. all the time thing. Only the great ever become Infamous.. and the Infamous One is truly Great indeed. The dancer who wanted to be a psychiatrist and a friend. It's been a week since Carlie last gave Sam advice on personal matters. If you can remember, Sam had been in a Strip Club spending hundreds of dollars enjoying his own private table and his own private dancer. Off in the corner with only Carlie dancing in front of him, Sam contemplated whether or not his recent encounter with his manager Luke meant that he hallucinated once, or if he had been hallucinating Luke himself this entire time. No one else ever remembers Luke. No one has ever seen him. Luke would always pop up in places that Sam didn't expect, at times that seemed all too perfect to help motivate him on his rise to the top. It couldn't be possible that Sam had hallucinated Luke this whole time. Luke had to be real.. Luke has been there to train Sam mentally for the tasks ahead. He's helped Sam turn the corner from ex-military rookie to full fledged professional wrestler.. and has helped Sam go much farther than just that. Sam couldn't have possibly hallucinated all of the things that Luke said.. right? Carlie said to Sam that these things could all be in Sam's mind. It would make sense.. the splitting headaches.. the multiple prescriptions taken to try to ease those migraines.. the alcohol. Could everything at this point in Sam's life have possibly been a lie? Sam - “Did you see my win over Roscoe Shame?” Luke - “Yes. It was very impressive indeed Sam.” Sam - “..I had to do it without you this time.” The scene was in the middle of a crowded sit-down restaurant.. like Ruby Tuesday's.. in Nevada. Sam had specifically picked this location due to the fact that he had invited Luke to join him.. and wanted to test Luke to see if he is real. This had to be the prefect place. Luke was dressed as he always is. His black professional suit with red tie makes him look like the CEO of an Evil Corporation. Sam was dressed in a red hoodie and a pair of blue jeans.. and once again did not bring his TapOut Championship belt to the restaurant for fear that someone would try to make him tap out in his food. Sam had a glass of water that he was constantly sipping. Luke's glass had gone untouched. Luke - “I know.. Sam. You have really come a long way here in the SVO and that's why I took you up on your offer for dinner. I had something very important that I wanted to say to you.” Sam - “Oh?” he sipped his water yet again. “So you didn't want anything to eat?” Luke - “No..” he chuckled. “I'm not hungry. Thank you.” Sam was a bit concerned. He wanted evidence to prove that Luke was either real or not without letting anyone actually know that he was doubting himself. If he were to ask the waiter if there were two people sitting at the table.. Sam would sound crazy and the last thing Sam needs is the public thinking that an SVO superstar needs a trip to the mental institution. Sam couldn't just come out and ask Luke, either.. because if he were real, then he would be the first to leak the story to everyone. Sam - “Damn. I was going to order enough for the two of us.” Luke - “I appreciate it, but that's not why I accepted your invitation to come here tonight.” Sam tried to think of ways to get Luke to pick up things, touch things, manipulate things. If Luke was truly a hallucination, he wouldn't be able to move anything. Sam - “Well, you haven't even touched your water.” Luke - “Not thirsty either.” Sam - “Have I ever seen you eat or drink anything?” Lucifer laughed. Luke - “You surely haven't. I try not to make a slob of myself when I'm in the company of others. I usually take care of those things before I ever go about my business.” Sam - “Hmm..” He takes another sip of water. “..yeah, I get that you're a consummate professional and all.” Luke - “I detect sarcasm in your voice.” Sam just looked across the table at Luke. Luke - “The reason why I wanted to come here tonight is to tell you that I won't be coming around all that much anymore.” Sam nearly choked on his water.. spitting it back out into the glass. Sam - “Ex-excuse me.. what?!” Luke - “..lower your voice..” Sam looked around, seeing that people were starting at him, and he became motivated to accept Luke's request. Sam - “What do you mean.. you won't be coming around much anymore?” Luke - “Sam.. when I first met you.. you were an ex-military wannabe and you tried to wrestle based upon military standards. You were angry but lost in the middle of that ring. You're a different person now.” Sam - “So..? You've always been there to motivate me when I've needed it.” Luke - “Yes, I have.. I remember the days when you couldn't stand me and you didn't want me around.. you thought that I was some kind of crazy fan following you around the world. Now look at you, you didn't need me to motivate you.. and you've beaten the SVO World Champion.. ..it looks like my work here is done.” Sam - “I-I don't believe this. You've meant everything to my rise to the top. There's no coincidence that the times that you've helped me since El Locon beat me down up to the time that I beat Locon.. and now that I've beaten the World Champion.. I've got you to thank for that.. really..” Lucifer couldn't help but to smile. Luke - “Honestly Sam, that means a lot to me. I consider myself the greatest manager to ever grace professional wrestling and I only pick clients that I believe in. You, Amos, I believed in.” Sam - “This.. this just isn't right. I know that our.. well.. relationship.. for lack of a better term.. hasn't always been on the best of terms. I remember those times that I really wanted you to leave. ..but you've been a friend to me, Luke. A true friend when no one else has been.” Luke - “That's Lucifer to you..” Luke winked, remembering the time that Sam pulled that same joke on him back in the day. Sam - “That's still a really dumb fucking name if you asked me.” The two men laughed. Luke - “Sam.. I suggest you go find that girl Carlie and pay her whatever it takes to get her to travel with you.” Sam - “The pole-dancer..? Why her?” Luke - “Carlie knows a lot about how a human mind works. I'm impressed by her knowledge and I am sure that she could be the person that you can lean on when you need inspiration for an upcoming match.” Sam - “Oh really..?” Luke - “Even though you're a top-tier competitor in SVO.. even though you're ready to fly on your own.. I still suggest you have a good set of ears that'll listen to you and a fresh perspective to see things from..” Sam - “..right..” Luke - “..but as far as we're concerned. I've taught you just about everything that I possibly know how to teach.. and you've been a really great student. You're a rare breed.. you know.. a person who takes their anger and uses it as a focused energy rather than an all out rage.” Sam - “I do. Instead of getting upset and letting all of my defenses down.. I just get twice as motivated to carry out the plan.” Luke - “See? Not all of that military training is bad for wrestling after all. Stick to your objectives.. let your emotions out in your promo and bleed your heart out then.. then use your brain in the ring.” Sam - “..yeah.” Luke - “..as long as you remember these things.. you're going to be a Champion in the Sanctioned Violence Organization for a long.. long time.” Sam - “Yeah.. well.. I've got DJ this week..” Luke - “Pity that this is goodbye.. this title defense should be easy.. and therefore a tad bit fun. But hey.. don't underestimate the guy, either. He's not bad.” Sam - “Yeah.. I agree.. it is a pity.” Lucifer begins to stand up. Sam - “Hey.. wait up a second.” Sam stands up and meets him at the end of the table. Sam - “I have to actually admit.. I kinda thought that this thing between us was going to last forever.” Luke - “Hey.. nothing lasts forever. Look outside, Winter is coming.” Sam - “..yeah.” Luke - “Every day it gets colder and the days get shorter. Soon the rain will turn to snow and everything will be covered in a ceremonial white burial sheet. Lucky for us, that spring always comes around early next year.” Sam - “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” Luke - “I say that with the next cycle of life, the next cycle of the SVO will see an Infamous Man as their World Heavyweight Champion.” Sam - “I think I get it.. thanks.” There is a pause.. an awkward moment where the two men stood at the end of the table.. looking at each other eye to eye. Luke - “Well Sam, that's my cue for the grand ol' exit.” Sam - “I've waited for this moment ever since you first came into my life.” Sam grinned. “Ironic.. I'm actually kinda sad right now.” Luke - “Heh. Remember me when you're holding that Title belt up high.. promise?” Sam nods. Lucifer grinned one last time and turned his shoulders away from Sam. Sam - “Wait.. Lucifer..” Lucifer turned back towards Sam. I believe this was the first time that Sam ever called him by his proper name. Lucifer looked down. Sam was holding his hand out. Sam - “If you're really leaving then we might as well do this properly.” Lucifer looked worried as he looked down at Sam's hand. Sam knew that if Lucifer was a hallucination for real, that Sam's hand would just go right through his just like Sam's hands did when he 'grabbed' him by his jacket some time ago. Lucifer hesitated. Sam - “Something wrong? I'm just trying to respect you by saying goodbye properly.” Lucifer grinned.. and placed his hand in Sam's.. and the two shook hands. Lucifer - “Goodbye, Samuel.” Sam couldn't believe it.. he could actually feel Lucifer's hand in his. Sam - “B-bye Lucifer.” The moment after the handshake seemed like an eternity for Sam. He couldn't believe that he could actually feel Luke's hand. Something in the smug grin on Luke's face told him that maybe Luke knew that Sam didn't exactly believe if he could be real or not. Luke made sure that smug look was the last thing that Sam would ever see from him. He walked off, out of the restaurant and completely out of sight. Amos could only sit back down at the table.. starring off into the distance.. feeling as if he lost a friend. Waiter - “Can I get you somethin-- Hey!! You're that SVO Dude!!” Samuel Amos - “Hey!! Fuck off!!” It was a few hours later and Sam had made his way back to his hotel room some time ago. His head had been hung low.. he didn't even bother to take his hoodie off, even though he had been indoors for quite sometime. To be honest, his mind wasn't even on DJ right now.. his mind was elsewhere. His mind was completely on Lucifer leaving and basically resigning as his acting manager. There really wasn't much left to do. The TapOut Championship belt just got back from being re-shined and having a special leather treater/waterproofer being rubbed into the strap. It looked brand-new again. It's hard to keep the TapOut Championship looking good when people are jumping out of trashcans or are constantly around the corner tackling you to the dirty concrete floor. The nicest, newest belt that SVO has to offer could easily look like the Hardcore Championship circa WWE Attitude era if it's not taken care of.. ..if someone were to scratch the main plate.. Amos would Kill Them. But right now.. Sam didn't care. He didn't care about the TapOut Championship or whoever DJ is. The only thing he cared about at this moment was what things are going to be like knowing that Luke is not ever going to come around ever again. Sam reached for his cellphone and picked it up. He had a number from the strip club that he had called the other night written on a business card that he took. He punched in the numbers and began dialing. Sam - “Hey.. is this the.. yeah.. The Strip Club right?” … Sam - “Of course. I'm sorry, kinda sounds so stupid. Anyway.. I was wondering.. I don't know if she's working tonight.. but I'd like to speak to Carlie please..” … … Sam - “What? What do you mean that Carlie doesn't work there?” Voice - “I'm sorry Sir, I'm new and I only know the girls by their stage names. But even if I did know who that was, I couldn't let you speak to her.” Sam - “Why the fuck not?” Voice - “Company policy Sir. For the protection of the girls.” Sam - “You listen here.. I'm Samuel Fucking Amos of the Sanctioned Violence Organization. I'm a world wide name and I'd never do anything to hurt any of those girls..” Voice - “You act like Tiger Woods or Ben Roethlisberger didn't say the same things when they went to strip clubs. Sorry, can't give you any personal information.” Sam - “Fuck.” Voice - “Is there anything else I can help you with?” Sam - “I want your name. I want to speak to the manager.” Voice - “Thank You. Have a nice day Sir.” Sam - “I swear to god that I'm going to come down their right now! I am a good customer and I demand--” Click. Sam hears his cellphone go back to dial tone. Sam - “Fuck!” He throws his cellphone across the room, listening to it slam against the far wall and breaking into pieces. Sam - “I swear to god that today is not my day. I've got Showdown tomorrow and a match against DJ.. and I honestly didn't even know that a DJ existed in SVO until I got the text that I would be facing him. I tried to watch DJ promos but I was bored to tears. I tried to think of other things I could say about DJ. Things like.. why is someone from Unsanctioned facing me? Why do your trunks look like a three year old tried to copy Bobby Dean's trunks on a black set of pants with a blue marker.. and gave up half way? And the infamous.. who the fuck are you? No really.. who the fuck is DJ again? So I patiently waited to hear from him. I wanted to see what DJ had to say to the man who just beat the World Champion fair and square.. I wanted to see why DJ thinks he can beat the SVO TapOut Champion who just beat the World Champion One Two Three. Trust me, I have never seen anyone who was willing to admit that they weren't better than me.. have never heard from anyones lips that they actually expect to lose this week. For good reason.. it doesn't sit well with the fans. But still, even though I was about to shit on everything that DJ could possibly say.. I just wanted to hear it straight from the horses mouth, first. And what did DJ give me? Nothing. I've got nothing to work with for a nobody who I didn't even know existed last week. Now I have to pretend that DJ is on my radar? What the fuck does DJ stand for, anyway? You know what.. I'm not even going to answer that. It doesn't matter what DJ's name is.. he's not going to beat me.. NO ONE IS GOING TO BEAT ME!!” Sam walked over and picked up the pieces of what's left of his cellphone. It used to be a clamshell, flip phone.. but now it's two smaller phones.. and nether of them work anymore. Sam clinched his hand around the broken pieces.. He's not upset about the phone.. he could easily buy a thousand of them. He's upset about the hassle he now has to go through to get it replaced. Sam - “Lucifer will no longer be guiding me in my road to the top of the SVO mountain. That's fine. I know that he feels that I've learned everything that I need to learn.. and I feel like I have. Not very many people can claim the things that I have to claim now.. I just hope he didn't leave because of the way I've acted lately. The one thing I can say about him is that he never asked me for anything and his intentions were truly pure. He's helped me and been my friend when no one else would.. and this week I'm dedicating this match to him. So I'm sure that DJ is going to come at me full force.. Good. No, fuck that, great. I hope scribble-pants DJ brings his A game to Sanctioned Violence's A Show against their A-List Superstar. I hope he does because Luke can watch me beat him down helplessly on Television. I hope that he does because I can show my former manager that he has taught me well. I am going to once again make another example of my dominance.. make another example that I am the best that SVO has to offer.. Grimnir and the World Champion Be Damned!! No one.. I repeat NO ONE in this god damned federation.. from the World Champion, on down.. can truly claim what I have claimed and have proven time and time again. DJ will be another victim.. another name to be tacked onto the ever-growing list of people that have realized that Samuel Amos is the real fucking deal.. ..that my name shall live on in Infamy. I'm not just another superstar. I'm fucking Infamous!!” The scene fades in as we see a close-up shot of Samuel's face.. his breath heavy, his lip curled, his eyes burning and his glare seemingly far away.. He's thinking.. dreaming.. seeing the moment.. that he's SVO World Champion. Fade to Black. |
