It seemed like ever since joining up with the Company, nothing in the world could stand in the way of James Von Drake. Since teaming up with the most powerful group in the history of pro wrestling, JVD had not only defeated Grimnir for the Las Vegas Championship at Roll the Dice, he had also put away the likes of Raven, Joseph Equinox and Nicky Jam back to back in the last three weeks! If a winning streak of four victories on the bounce wasn't cause for celebration, then nothing would be! The last time JVD had a streak like this in the sVo was when he first entered and won the Victory Cup in his first month. That had led to a World title shot against the then Champion Night in the main event of a PPV, however this streak seemed to be heading in a different direction all together. Despite Cody Williams trying to butt his nose in where it didn't belong, another triple threat match for the Las Vegas title was in the works, but instead of Grimnir and Zarathustra it would be Karma Jones and Nathan Paradine standing in the way of JVD coming out the other side as the Las Vegas Champion. Now Paradine and Jones were certainly no slouches, but then again neither had Grimnir or Zarathustra been. However none of them were James Von Drake, none of them had the backing of the Company, and none of them would be walking away from the PPV with the Las Vegas Championship belt around their waists..... James Von Drake looked around the office with great interest. On the far wall was a massive bookcase filled with many dusty books that Von Drake had never heard of before, and by the looks of them hadn't been read in quite a while. In the corner was a wooden oak desk with paper work stacked neatly in the middle, and all around the walls were certificates from various collages and articles from different magazines that were all framed. James Von Drake had been here on his own for almost ten minutes, and was starting to get restless. He wasn't a man that was used to be kept waiting, he was far too important for that. The secretary had assured him that Dr Goldstein was only running slightly late and would be here shortly, but Von Drake was already uptight in being here in the first place. It had been two weeks since he had accidentally opened a door into the face of sVo interviewer Katie Smith, and it had been two weeks since the scheming red haired bitch had gone to his boss Matt Anderson to try and get him fired. Von Drake knew that Smith was only acting this way because she knew that there was no way JVD would get with her no matter how much she wanted it, and probably wanted to make a quick buck in compensation. However despite the fact that it was genuinely a complete accident, Matt Anderson had sent JVD to a psychiatrist to talk out his anger issues against women, and here he was. James Von Drake wasn't mad because his time would have been better spent training for his tag team match with Karma Jones against Nathan Paradine and Cody Williams, no he could beat those two chumps even with a loose cannon as a partner. No he was mad because time was money, and these pointless sessions were taking up a lot of it. Von Drake had done some pretty bad things on his way to the top in his short life, he could admit that, but hit a woman? Never would he sink to that kind of level. Dr Goldstein – "Ah James. Thank you for waiting for me." JVD turned and came face to face with a man much shorter than he was who came striding confidently through the door. JVD instantly recognised him from the pictures dotted around the office as Dr Goldstein, and quickly looked down at his Rolex watch in a frustrated manor to indicate how unhappy he was at being kept waiting. However Goldstein didn't even seem to notice as he walked further into the office, past the Las Vegas Champion. JVD stared at Goldstein and measured up the man he was expected to spill his guts to. He was a much shorter man than JVD, and looked to be roughly about fifty five. He had a thick beard which possibly made him look older than he actually was, but had a thin wiry face. His clothes didn't reflect that of a man who was charging $50 an hour to be talked at, and were in direct comparison to JVD's designer label clad threads. Dr Goldstein quickly noticed JVD looking at him, and JVD tried to look elsewhere, in order to stop the doctor making any first impressions on him already. Being very wary of what the doctor might think of him, JVD waits for the doctor to make the first move. Dr Goldstein – "Please James, take a seat." JVD quickly glances across at the two chairs in the room, one being a long sofa like chair that he could picture patients laying on, and the other being an armchair. James Von Drake – "Where do you want me to sit?" JVD could feel the eyes of the doctor examining his response as he took another look over the two chairs. Dr Goldstein – "Where ever you feel comfortable." JVD took a few steps forwards towards the long sofa before stopping in his tracks. The doctor was busy picking up a pen and a notepad from his desk, so JVD quickly turned around and sat in the armchair. Dr Goldstein looked up from his desk and walked across towards the Las Vegas Champion. Dr Goldstein – "Hmmm interesting." JVD could feel the eyes of the doctor looking over him, and he didn't like it one bit. James Von Drake – "Is this some kind of fucking test? Where does it matter where I sit?" JVD shook his head in annoyance, he hated situations like this, where he didn't feel in control. He was out of his comfort zone, just as he would be on Sunday night in tag team action at Showdown. Matches against Cody Williams and Nathan Paradine would be no problem, but JVD always disliked tag team action. No doubt he would pull through and win it, but it was more of a struggle that it had to be. Karma Jones was a loose cannon as he showed in his first match in the sVo. Add the fact that he was one of the contenders for the Las Vegas title belt, and in all likelyhood JVD was going to have to put him down as well as Paradine and Williams. Dr Goldstein – "Do you not like feeling as if you are being tested?" The words from Dr Goldstein shook JVD back from his thoughts in the tag team match this Sunday and back to the here and now. James Von Drake – "Let me first off just say that this whole thing is a waste of time." Dr Goldstein – "Do you think it will be a waste of time if we manage to get to the bottom of why you hit that woman the other week?" JVD stared down the doctor. He wasn't used to being answered back to, with the exception of his wife, and it wasn't a feeling he liked. James Von Drake – "I didn't hit her! Surely you must have heard the real story. She walked into the door as it opened, and now she is trying to make a quick buck off of me. Slut probably is just mad I won't sleep with her." Dr Goldstein – "So your saying its her own fault you hit her? That's a pretty common argument in most domestic violence incidents." James Von Drake – "Wow hang on a minute. I didn't hit her, she walked into the door. How many times am I going to have to explain that? I feel like I am repeating myself more than one of the Corporations promos." The doctor raised an eyebrow as he looked back at JVD, obviously not a wrestling fan that got the inside joke about the sVo's biggest group of jobbers. Dr Goldstein – "Tell me about your mother James. How did you get on with her?" JVD throws his arms up in frustration as he looks back at the unflinching face of the doctor, this was even more of a waste of time than he thought. James Von Drake – "I know the Company is rich, but I can't believe they are wasting money on a quack like you to waste my time sitting here and talking about crap. This is a complete waste of time." The doctor jots down a few notes on his paper, which get the attention of JVD as he wonders what is being written about him. Dr Goldstein – "You seem to be dodging the issue about your mother there James. That a sore topic?" James Von Drake – "Christ this is more predicable than the Corporation losing their next match. Let me guess after you talk about my mother you are going to go onto my father. You are going to say they didn't hug me enough and that's why I am the way I am? I told my wife this was a complete waste of time...." Dr Goldstein – "You ever think about hitting your wife James?" JVD suddenly lunges forward without warning and grabs the doctor by the shirt collar. JVD stares into the face of the doctor, but strangely he doesn't seem to flinch, as if he has seen it all before. James Von Drake – "I'm thinking about hitting you for even suggesting I would do a thing like that to my wife." Dr Goldstein – "Hmmm that's a pretty strong reaction. I think we touched a nerve there James. That is something we will have to follow up on." JVD releases the grip on the collage of the doctor and sinks back into his seat. JVD stares at the doctor looking confused at his reaction to getting grabbed. The doctor seems totally un-phased by it as he continues to make notes on his pad. Dr Goldstein – "I don't know if you hit that women or not, and quite frankly I don't care. You are going to be with me for at least five weeks if you like it or not, so we might as well and see what we can do for you in those five weeks... If you want to continue after that then it is up to you." JVD smirks and shakes his head violently. James Von Drake – "I wouldn't bet on it buddy." Dr Goldstein – "Well you never know what you might pick up that will make you a better person James, a better competitor in that ring." James Von Drake – "Listen Goldstein, you are just doing your job. But at the end of the day I am the last person in the sVo that needs to see a shrink. Just look at all the basket cases we have running around that place! We have Karma Jones with his daddy issues. His he dead? Is he alive? Do we care? HELL NO! Then we have Cody Williams running back to the sVo after all these years, showing up in the main event as if he is some kind of big deal. I checked through the records, Cody Williams was never a big deal here in the sVo! I give it a month tops before he flakes out and decides things in the sVo are too tough for him now! Then we have the fourth man involved in our match on Sunday, Nathan Paradine. Compared to the other two he looks sane, but then against he is from Australia and we all know what those guys are like! That's not to mention the guy running around stealing the name and look of a man that killed his wife and kid, Bobby Dean and Roscoe Shame and their never ending on off bro-mance, Chris Wrestling who gets confused every time he comes into contact with a microphone.... the list goes on!" The doctor finally displays his first piece of emotion since entering the room, with a shrug of his shoulders. Dr Goldstein – "I know nothing of them James. You are my patient, and I promise that by the end of our time together you will be a better person. You will function better in your family." JVD rolls his eyes. If he wanted pop psychology then he could have just read a book. At the end of the day he was the Las Vegas Champion, and the hottest thing in the sVo right now. He didn't have any issues he needed to talk to a shrink about, and that was as much of a fact as Katie Smith being a golddigging bitch was, and that Nathan Paradine and Cody Williams were on their way to suffering another loss was. James Von Drake – "Whatever doc. Until next time, try and not be late next week." JVD gets to his feet with a cocky smile on his face and makes his way towards the door. JVD takes one last look back at the doctor, before shaking his head and laughing to himself. JVD then exits out of the door and closes it behind him. With JVD out of the door, Dr Goldstein sighs and slowly rises up to his feet. The doctor makes his way over to the desk, and picks up the old fashioned phone that is sitting on the desk. The doctor types in a few numbers before lifting the receiver to his ear. Dr Goldstein – "Yeah it's me.... I just had the first session with him..... He puts up a lot of front but he won't be hard to break down..... Yeah give it until next week and I will crank out the big guns..... You no problem. Speak to you next week....." The doctor hangs up the phone and leans back in the seat behind his desk as the scene fades out. Just who was the doctor breaking his doctor/patient responsibilities to? Was it Matt Anderson, or another third party? With Nathan Paradine having to step into the ring against JVD on Sunday with only the Reflection of Deception Cody 'Overrated' Williams as a partner, will he even make it to Seasons Beatings? |
