"How is he?"

His mentor, Akira Kimura turned to face the student, Mitsuhiro Tomishiba. With his master's attention, Tomishiba bowed deeply. A quiet, confident man, he had served for years as an 'enforcer' of sorts for Kimura's school and prized students of the KIMURA Dojo for years. Having said that, it had been many years since he had been called upon for his services - perhaps it was him, or perhaps Master Kimura had not felt anyone had warranted those services... until now. Nodding in the direction he had been walking, the two men continued down the corridor high above the Las Vegas strip in Goodfellas Casino, Tomishiba dwarfing his mentor.

Mitsuhiro knew that it was not that Kimura's new prize student necessarily needed his offered protection - but with Master Kimura's old associates, desperate times called for desperate measures. He knew the old master was a good man, however, he had been mellowed by age and in his past he had dealt with some shady characters.

"He still hasn't spoken," came the old man's solemn reply to Mitsuhiro's question.

Cocky as always, Tomishiba smirked as he spoke again, "The kid needs to learn to lighten up." And he did. Mitsuhiro had seen and protected many of Akira's students over the years - none were quite like this one - always talking of dreams and arch-bishops and assorted nonsense. In Mitsuhiro's opinion, Kimura prized the wrong twin... but that was none of his business so he kept his opinions to himself.

"Try to understand," Kimura spoke calmly, softly, "that he has worked for a long time to get back here and become the champion. He has done this, only to be defeated a week later. It's understandable that he's feeling a bit uneasy - in his mind probably even unworthy."

Always defending Miyamoto - Mitsuhiro should have predicted his mentor's response.

"Everybody loses sometimes," Tomishiba's voice was gruff and unmoved by the older man's defense, "he can't just go to the roof and sulk whenever he does."

"He does what he must to avoid bringing it back to the ring - I'd rather he sat on the roof and sulked than be distracted and beaten again in his next match," replied Kimura calmly, "One of his great strengths is his perseverance."

Finally reaching the room, Kimura produced a swipe card, scanning it quickly and opening the door.

"Let me go talk to him, I'll snap him out of it," Tomishiba grinned devilishly.

Knowing him far too well, the old man placed his hand on Tomishiba's arm, turning him back towards the corridor and pointing him towards the elevator bank.

"I have a better idea, our 'friends' in The Company haven't noticed you're back just yet - their offices are downstairs on level three. The elevator can take you there but you need a key to access it... I trust that won't be an issue?" Kimura asked with a grin. Mitsuhiro, still grinning broadly and maliciously shook his head 'no' drawing a chuckle from Kimura. "Good, why don't you pay them a visit and let them know you're here? I'm sure they remember you."

Chuckling himself, Tomishiba walked towards the elevator bank, calling one up to himself. He had done exactly what his mentor had wanted, but that wasn't a problem - he was about to visit some old friends... or at least their offices. Humming happily to himself, he stepped into the newly arrived elevator and vanished from the old man's sight. Satisfied that Tomishiba was on the job, Kimura closed the door and moved to the set of stairs leading to the roof - easily Night's favorite feature of his penthouse suite at Goodfellas Casino, their temporary lodgings.

And, as expected, just where Kimura last left him, there he was. Seated up against an air vent, the sVo World Title sitting next to him on the roof.

"Akumu, you've been up here all night, why not go inside?"

No reply came from the masked man.

Trying to entice a response, Kimura continued, "All these little distractions... they're why you lost."

That got his attention.

"It's true - you let a lot of little problems and set-backs into your mind and lose focus - last week you faced Johnny All-Star... you knew what he was capable of, you've faced him before... and that lack of focus on a dangerous opponent cost you the match." Kimura stopped as Night hung his head low, dejected.

"But now, Night, if you let this loss get to you it just becomes another distraction. You've been here before and you know that you've got to just let it go and move on - this is how slumps begin... don't let it get to you," Akira spoke honestly and frankly, a trait which had helped earn the respect of generations of his students. Working it's magic once more, Night pushed himself to his feet, picking up the title as he did.

Placing a fatherly hand on Night's shoulder, Kimura smiled. He was a strange one, but he had always thought of Night as the son he never had. "Now get some sleep - you need to be healthy if you're fighting two Company men this week."

Still silent, but at least responding and heading inside, at least for the moment, Kimura smiled as the masked man finally descended from the roof. Taking Night's seat by the vent, Akira closed his eyes to think - of The Company, Johnny and Paige All-Star... and Tomishiba leaving his mark on The Company offices downstairs...
