Why DVD hates Juliana Torres.

Some wonder why DVD hates Juliana Torres so much. Is it jealousy? No, DVD has more money, more accomplishments, and is a Hall Of Famer.

But the true reason lies in this traumatizing event from DVD past. I take you back to the ghetto childhood of DVD's, to explore why he hates Torres.

Its August 1994. Its the dog days of summer. A young DVD walks down Manchester Blvd. He's ten years old, a little chubby, but cute and innocent. Untainted by the ghetto, still pure dispite the evils that plauge this area. He walks up Manchester headed for his apartment off 84th st, just half a block from Crenshaw blvd.

It is in this setting we see DVD at his most base, most simple state......

The state of a young naive, innocent boy.

DVD reaches the corner of the intersection, and presses the button for the crosswalk. DVD then notices a cute light-skinned girl waiting to cross the street. She stands to his right. She is wearing a red blouse with some tight jeans. The girl is 11, preparing to turn 12, but already had the shape of a 15 year old at least. The breasts were not fully developed, but apparent. The hips shapen. The butt curved perfectly. Her hair was long, cheeks high, smile broad and beautiful. Lips kissable, the eyes big and pretty.

She was the most beautiful person DVD had seen. Or so he thought at the moment.

And just as the daydreams began, reality kicked him in the gut, reminding him of its presence.

Girl: Hi, have I met you somewhere?

DVD took a moment to recover. Although naive, a nerd and innocent to a fault, DVD has never been lacking in words. So even then, he was able to play it smooth.

DVD: No, I dont think so. You look like this girl in band I know.

Girl: You're in the band? Coool! What instrument do you play?

DVD: Tenor Saxophone.

Girl: Oh my God, that is so cool. I bet you look cute with that saxophone.

DVD: I guess so....heheheh.

Girl(smiling): I'm Chavon. What's your name?

DVD: DVD.

Girl: Its nice meeting you.

The light changes, and the two new acquaintences walk across the Avenue of Champions. Now walking alongside the then Great Western Forum, the two continue to chat.

Chavon: So what other cool things do you do?

DVD: Cool? um....I can sing. Is that cool?

Chavon: Of course it is silly! Sing me a song.

DVD thinks for a moment. He then begins singing 'Love TKO' by Teddy Pendergrass.

'Lookin Back...

Suddenly...

Chavon(with DVD): ...I'm losing again....takes a fool to lose twice....start all over again.....

The two look at each other as they sing together. Almost no time passes and they reach 84th. DVD pauses here.

DVD: Well, I live over this way. (pointing across the street)

Chavon: Oh. I live off Van Ness. You really have a nice voice.

DVD: You think so? Your voice is pretty.

Chavon: And you are cute.

DVD: You are pretty too.

The two playing a game in which neither knew the rules or the stakes. But they were playing nonetheless. The two waved to each other, going their separate ways, each thinking about the other.

The days went on. Each would wait for the other at the corner of Manchester and the Avenue of Champions. They didnt care how late it made them. They would wait until the other came, then sing a song together and talk about whatever their childish minds thought important at the time.

But one day this changed. One day DVD walked to the Avenue of Champions. He waited. And waited. She didn't come. It was getting late. To the point DVD HAD to start making his way home. Suddenly, here she came. But something was wrong. She was limping, and her face was discoloured. She made her way to him, trying to smile, but she was hurting, and for reasons DVD couldn't conceive.

Chavon: Hi.

DVD: Hi.....are you okay?

Chavon: Um yes. Just tripped on the way up here.

DVD: What held you up? Its real late.

Chavon: Um, well, I got held up for a make-up test.

DVD: Really? Did you pass it?

Chavon: I don't know yet.

DVD: Its your turn to pick a song. I hope I know the words this time.

Chavon: Can we not sing today? Please?

DVD: um okay I guess. Are you sure you are okay?

Chavon looks at DVD, and he has the most genuine look of concern and care on his face. Her heart melts like it never has before for this boy. But the guard is up though. She was so hurt......

We near 84th and Chavon stops walking. DVD takes a few steps, not noticing she stopped. He then looks back to see her standing there.

Chavon: Can you make me a promise?

DVD: Yes. What is it?

Chavon: Well, I have a boyfriend. I liked him, but he is real mean to me. But I can't get away from him. He finds me. He hurts me. But I really like you. You are all the things I thought he was. Please DVD, please promise to be my Champion. Please save me from what I am going through.

DVD: Your champion?

Chavon: Yes. We always meet on the Avenue of Champions. Thats going to be your street from today and forever. But you must promise me you will always be my Champion.

DVD: I promise, Chavon. I promise.

Chavon walks forward and grabs DVD, hugging him tightly. DVD holds her, not knowing anything else to do but confort her best as he could.

These two young kids had jumped off a cliff. Hitting a switch that activated a chain of events that changed both of them forever. You see, Chavon's 'boyfriend' was a 19 year old sicko who dug teenagers.

The next day, DVD saw Chavon leave school a different way that he thought she should. Why is she going south down Grevillea? He thought. So he followed at a distance. A few blocks later, she turned into an apartment building. DVD dashed to close the distance, figuring the door would lock or something. Moments later, DVD was yards away, hearing Chavon at the intercom. He hears a deep voice.

Voice: Come on up baby.

'Baby'?

DVD didn't consider himself her boyfriend. But he had to step in. He couldn't let her know he was there yet. DVD saw another gated door to his left. It appeared to be a rear path. DVD peered through the gate door Chavon had just passed through, making a mental note of where she turned. He then bolted to the side door which thank goodness was open. He hurried down the walkway while anlyzing the building, estimating what apartment she was in. Arriving at where she turned but on the rear side, DVD paused.

Okay. Is it on the left, or right?

All the apartments had a patio that had a high wooden fence around it. DVD had no clues to which apartment she went to exactly. He just knew it was one of these two. DVD then had an idea. Maybe there was an open window or door. He peered through a hole in the fence of the apartment to the right. He sees the patio door is closed. However, he can see toys and a child's bike lying around. Could this be it? Maybe. He saw a similar hole to the left on the opposite fence. DVD crossed to that. He peered in, and saw the door was open, blinds drawn halfway, but at an angle that DVD could see inside! Yes! DVD used all the power his eyes could muster to see what was going on. YES! It was Chavon. Suddenly, a tall figure came out of nowhere, and placed a hand on her shoulder, and began to guide her to the bedroom. DVD had to act. He never was good at scaling fences, but this time he had to be.

For Chavon. For his title as her Champion he had to.....

DVD leaped straight up, and began to pull himself up. He lacked the upper body strength, but adrenaline and blood and testosterone pumping, He made it over the top. Now the next task was getting through the screen door which was locked.

The coast was clear. DVD managed to tear away the screening just enough near the lock so he could reach through and unlock it on the other side of the screen. He then quietly opened the door and was in.

DVD has always had a caculating mind. Knowing he couldn't just climb over the fence again if chased, he crossed through the small living room, and quietly unlocked the front door. That way, if chased, he could easily throw open the door and make a beeline for the front gate. Next, he needed a weapon. Something. DVD went down a hallway. The first right was the kitchen. DVD found an iron skillet. He grabbed it, weighted it. He knew this would be good. He then decided that taking the weapon in might not be wise. What if he was disarmed? Hmmm...better to leave it somewhere then grab it at the opportune moment and WHACK! DVD left it right near the front door. He had something of a plan. Force the guy to the front door, then in his haste he won't notice as DVD picks up and smacks him with the skillet.

A sound, yet simple plan. DVD gathered his nerve, his courage building. The bedroom door was ajar. DVD could peer in.

A man threw Chavon to the floor. He then smacked her across the face. He then grabbed her by the hair and yanked her onto the bed. At that point DVD opened the door.

DVD: Leave her alone.

Man: What the hell!!? Who are you?

DVD: Don't worry about who I am. You leave her alone.

Man: She isn't going anywhere.

The man held her by the hair, and stared a hole through DVD.

Man: Do the wrong thing and I'll yank her hair off her head.

DVD: No! Just let her go.

Man: I'll let her go, you come here and kiss my feet and bow down to me.

DVD's ego wouldn't allow the though of such an action to process through his mind now. But back then the ego had yet to form. And also his desire to save Chavon and keep his promise burned strong. So DVD meekly walked toward the man. The man let go of Chavon who crawled towards the door looking in horror. DVD kissed the man's feet. He then bowed to him.

The man smiled. He then zipped down his pants. He reached in and pulled out his thing.

Man: Now boy. I'll let Chavon go and I won't hurt her if you put this in your mouth and suck on it.

DVD: No.

Man: What? Do you want me to hurt her? Chavon, come here and show him how to do it.

DVD: No Chavon.

DVD suddenly bolted. The man reached for DVD but missed, and then gave chase. DVD got to the front door, the man on top of him. DVD pretended to stumble, and fell on the skillet. He gripped it underneath himself, as the man grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him up. Suddenly, DVD turned and swung and hit him the jaw with the skillet. The blow knocked him out. DVD stood up fully. He stared down at the man, a cold look on his face. He then dropped the skillet and walked back to the bedroom. Chavon saw him and ran to him. The two walked back to the man, who was sprawled on the floor. They then left, neither saying a word.

He didn't see her again after that. Shortly after, DVD began training to become a wrestler. This involved him being picked up from school by DDP who initially showed him the basics at that time. So DVD never saw her after school.

Over the Years, I guess I shedded some tears....

I told myself time and time again, this time I'm going to win....

But another fight, things are not right...'

DVD's mother dressed him until he was 12. But here he is ten, a little overweight, and wearing outfits that don't match. His mother had a bad habit of dressing him in colors she liked. So here we are, DVD wearing a green t-shirt with purple pants, and a jansport black backpack. What do you know, his mom's favorite colors were green and purple. Young DVD, looking like a ball boy for the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, is approaching the corner of Manchester blvd and Prarie Ave after a long day at summer school. Prarie Ave is the Avenue Of Champions. Keep that in the back of your mind as we proceed with this tale of maturity.

What does a 10 year old boy do when he is driven by a beautiful woman to protect? He does one thing. PROTECT. But he didn't see her after that. She avoided him. And if they crossed paths, she ignored him. He reached out to her, but she pulled away. It hurt him deeply. Because he loved her.

Years passed. We fast forward to DVD 18 years old, in between promotions. JICWF had just closed, and he was condsidering contacting Manuel A. Diaria for enployment in the new Xtreme Wrestling Federation. While pondering his career move, he went back to Inglewood. He got inside info that Chavon was with her parents at the old house. Got an address. She would be 20 now almost. The incident 8 years ago started the events that made DVD, weak, nerdy and innocent into the hardened, cold man he is today. Although he does have a heart, he hides his feelings from most people because of one woman.

A note was left at the door. It said simply, 'meet me at my avenue'. He was there all day. He went to the Sizzler across the street and waited, eyeing the corner from the window. About 5pm she showed up. DVD hastily ran out, ran across the street, and to her. She turned, wearing a black tank top with black jeans and shiny earrings. She was even more beautiful than before. DVD didn't feel anything at this moment but hurt.

Chavon: It IS you. Why? What do you want?

DVD: I had to see you. I had to know why you forgot about me. What we had. Although it was simple and childish, we had a connection. We cared for each other. You can't deny it. Why is it after I saved you from that guy you acted like I didn't exist?

Chavon: Because you weren't there all those times he raped me. Made me do all kinds of nasty things that make me vomit if I recall them. DVD, when I thought of you, it reminded me of all the hurt I went through before I met you. And I couldn't deal with it. Now I am in love with myself. I love Chavon. I don't need you, him, or any man. You represent the pain in my life, and this is the last time we need to see each other.

DVD: I loved you, Chavon. I did. I melted at your touch. Come with me. I will keep my promise to you....

Chavon(cutting him off): Shut up. You aren't worthy of this. I am a Queen, and I deserve the best treatment, and no man can treat me as good as I can myself. I am never lonely. I am beautiful, smart and truly prolific. No one styles and profiles like me. Now I am going to leave. I just had to tell you that I never loved you. I never wanted more than a release from my pain. Once you gave that to me, I didn't need you. So goodbye. And have a good life, mister DVD. Ha! What a damn lame-ass name.

DVD stood there, speechless. She left him. She was the only woman he would've did anything for. But now she stabbed him. Twisted the knife. Pulled it out and cut the nerve endings.

DVD was paralyzed. He pined for 63 seconds.

63 seconds later......DVD made up his mind that he didn't need to feel like that again. No love. No promises. The only Champion he would be would be the People's. The People who made him into a cultic force.

Every time DVD sees Juliana Torres, he is reminded of Chavon. He hates Chavon. She and Juliana could be sisters.

Chavon is 'Prolific'. Juliana is 'Corporate'. Both consider themselves Queens. Both claim to be better than men and not need them. Both have hurt DVD. One physically, the other emotionally.

But Sunday only two will suffer years of pain. It will be years to the day on Sunday that this happened. And The Corporation will suffer far more than the Corporate DDT she brags about. They will suffer far more for having the SVO Tag Team Titles. They will suffer for what Chavon did.

And that is take his heart and step on it. Steal his innocence and his ability to love a woman. Juliana Torres will appear to DVD as Chavon. He has hated Torres from day one. He has wanted to crush her since the first Torres promo. But the chance comes through DJ and Chris Wrestling first. The chance to quiet the rage that remains from that event that changed DVD forever.

It all started on the Avenue Of Champions.......

...And will end On Sunday at Resurrection.
