Two boxes of boxes of chow mein noodles rest on the kitchen table half eaten. A third box is enveloped in the hands of a curious and anxious Roscoe Shame. The contents of the box are a mixture of Sesame Chicken and King Tao Chicken, neither of which look appetizing to a skeptical Roscoe. The man takes a whiff of the food and quickly jerks his head back at the foul scent.

“What in the hell kind of food is this?!” Rosce scorns.

An entertained Berea, who is seated across the table from Roscoe, can’t stop laughing at his roommate.

“What do you mean what kind of food? That is Chinese food bro” Berea answers.

“Chinese food?! How in the hell did you get Chinese food in Las Vegas?”

Berea suddenly becomes perplexed at the question he was just asked. It is probably the dumbest question he had ever been asked before it dawns on him that his friend is…well…special. The part of the country Roscoe is from is nothing special and obviously doesn’t have the luxury of Chinese Food which so many Americans enjoy.

“It doesn’t come from China, Roscoe. There are Chinese restaurants all over the place. It’s Americanized so its not real Chinese food” explains Berea.

“OH!! I see now…..yeah we don’t have any Chinese restaurants back home. I was wondering how you would get food all the way from China.”

The two men share a laugh over Roscoe’s latest gaffe before Berea leaves to his room. In light of what just took place, it starts to dawn on Roscoe that he is way out of his comfort zone and things are way different than Kalamazoo, Michigan. So different in fact that the once forbidden thought of returning home started to sound like a smart idea after all.

Reality wastes no time setting in, helping Roscoe to realize that returning would be no good to him. There is nothing there for him and the reason he left in the first place is to make something of himself and to experience something new and that is exactly what he was doing.

He has spent his entire adult life squandering from job to job doing nothing with his life and going nowhere. His move to Las Vegas was a step in the right direction to make something of himself and Sanctioned Violence Organization has given him that chance. His wrestling career has gotten off to a better start than he thought it would. So good in fact that Roscoe will find himself in the ring at Resurrection wrestling for the International Championship. Shame Time, as he so emphatically refers to himself as, has made is presence felt and looks towards a long career in the business.

If there is one thing Roscoe has learned in his life that is to take life one day at a time. So instead of looking towards next week and Resurrection he has to focus on this week and Roulette Night at Showdown thirty-seven. The factor of the unknown is unsettling to his nerves, but Roscoe believes that he can take on anyone in the organization…..

“SHIT!!”

The one thing Roscoe cannot take however is the taste of the King Tao Chicken he just ate for the very first time. His stomach immediately reacts causing him to have to race to the bathroom where he reaches the toilet just in time for his vomit not to land on the floor.
