The cold-eyed insanity burnt little holes in his brain, left it festering like an open, gaping wound. David Mata sits drooling in a stupor as La Envidia Mata scrapes the butcher knife against the cold stone. The light does not shine through the window. “We did not secure the SVO Championship.” La Envidia Mata's savage instincts are blazing, an animalistic craze sending rapid pulses of indignation down his spine, shooting through his body the temper of smiting Satan. “I don't like that.” David Mata is sick. His body may have well been devastated with prussic acid for all we know. He sits in the chair, his ankles and wrists bound with duct tape, wearing nothing more than his black boxers, his pale hairy chest jetting out and his eyes drooping, two pallid and soggy bags. “No more.” He mutters, his mouth numb, his speech slurred. “No more.” La Envidia Mata turns around, holding the butcher knife in the air. “I said... no more... you bastard.” David manages. David closes his eyes, and leans his head back in painless anguish. La Envidia Mata draws the butcher knife to David's neck, jabbing the sharpest point into David's adams apple, forcing David to gulp slowly. La Envidia Mata looks into David's dark, baggy eyes and notices a little sparkle, a tint of blue that is slightly off in David's left eye. The stain reminds La Envidia Mata of Manuel A. Diaria, and he immediately pulls the knife away from David's throat. That was not to say he was afraid to slit Manuel's throat, but rather he would want Manuel to suffer. He would not permit the puppeteers a quick and easy death. They would have to suffer their ways into nothing. La Envidia Mata holds David's hand down to the wooden armrest, spreading David's fingers out. La Envidia Mata takes the knife and begins digging it underneath David's index finger fingernail. David lets out a low moan, as he leans his head forward in a bobbing motion. “Owe.” David says, lethargically. The blood begins bubbling up, making a rippling puddle of blood under the nail. It was the shape of something. A teddy bear. It was at this very moment that Michelle reaches her hand out and grabs La Envidia Mata's heart. She begins wrenching it, squeezing it with an unparalleled vigor and anger. But La Envidia Mata stops her as he turns his head away and shakes the image out of his mind. “What a shame,” La Envidia Mata thinks, “If Chloe should suffer the same fate.” So much potential. He couldn't bring himself to stick the knife back to David, because people were leaping out of David, attacking La Envidia Mata with sudden bursts of remembered hostility and indifference. But then he notices something different about the way David sits so pathetic in the chair. David's overall emptiness jets out as a broken nosed airplane. The stubble of his beard renders him homeless, and what could one see in a homeless man, but nothing? “DVD is homeless.” La Envidia Mata says. Not houseless, but homeless. For you see, DVD might enjoy the privileges of owning a house, but he does not own a home. A home is reserved for those who think they have everything, those who covet happiness, family, love. DVD has none of those things and so perhaps, La Envidia Mata thought, DVD was more close to nothing than he had originally thought. That is why David Mata extended the invitation for DVD to join the Corporation on ACW, that is why La Envidia Mata expected DVD to accept... because he has nothing. But he does have something. He has the Xtreme Fusion, and he rides on his horse through the night with them. The damned bandits think they own the SVO, think they can do whatever they want. They can slash and burn the company until they've cleared enough land to start sewing their seeds of power, cultivating whole crops of XF... exporting the product in their own name, not the name of The Corporation, until they rule the entire SVO. La Envidia Mata despised the idea of crops. He preferred famine and drought. He planned on burning whatever it was that they were trying to grow. Not only was it the damn blasphemous farmers that brought La Envidia Mata to do such devilish deeds, but DVD coveted something else: The World Title. DVD had never lost the XWF World Title in the last XWF, but this is the SVO and time have changed. DVD's blatant disregard for the new order raked La Envidia Mata's face with a sharp clawing that left three vertical bloody scars from his forehead to his chin. It infuriated La Envidia Mata that this mere mortal, DVD, thinks he is going to challenge nothing and give Xtreme Fusion something. La Envidia Mata surmised that DVD believed a World Title would mean a home. Surely someone would love DVD after he had fulfilled his destiny and become the World Champion. But no. No amount of World Titles could bring DVD the happiness he seeks, and deep down he knows that. Especially now, the World Title which will be contested at Resurrection between Night and Tobias Devereux. “If he wins the title later on” La Envidia Mata thinks, “then he will have something.” The perplexing thought causes La Envidia Mata to muse over the sharpness of knife in his hand as he draws his finger over the edge of the blade. “You're evil.” David sobs slowly, as if La Envidia Mata could not tell it for himself, as if he didn't know this to be true. “Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Now DVD... I may be evil, but it is a necessary evil. It is an unparalleled evil that perpetuates itself because it does so much good. I reach out my hand to you to pull you into the void with me, but you choose to hold on to what you have, to strive for more. Why is this? Because you are good. Deep down you want peace and happiness, and good things to happen for you, your family, and this company. But why? Why? The Xtreme Fusion cares not for your safety. The Xtreme Fusion cares not for your participation in matches, even. How many matches have you won since you've been here? Zero. And where have all your supporters been? No-where. How many times have you got to spend quality time with your daughter? None. The world is screaming “accept nothing” to you, and you will not accept it. Why?” Such was a question for the gods, the omnipotent, because it was beyond La Envidia Mata's capabilities to see what gives this man so much hope, what pushes him to live his life pursuing good and obtaining accomplishments in the name of following his dreams. “Damn you.” David says. “You're a curse.” A curse. A curse. Yes of course. It all came back to La Envidia Mata suddenly, chugging it's way through his mind, blowing the steam of confusion out of his ears, and ushering in a shipment of ill-will. To say a spine chilling look came over La Envidia Mata's face would be inaccurate. A spine freezing look, directed to DVD, through David, froze the man's back, and caused him to vomit to his left. The spatter of chicken and beans mixed with a putrid acidity burned the hairs of La Envidia Mata's nose, and the purging of nourishment caused La Envidia Mata to lean in with a smile on his face. “Again.” La Envidia Mata demanded. And David did again, his stomach convulsing, his mouth creating a crooked “O.” The splatter sound of chunks hitting the cold slate floor churns up even more of a desire to die. “Again!” La Envidia Mata commands. David heaves, and heaves, his stomach contracting, suffocating him. He tries to move his arms and legs, but alas is tied. The pain causes him to shake, and his eyes to roll back in his head. “You will have nothing.” La Envidia Mata takes the knife and jams it under the tape concealing David's wrists. He pulls up, and slices the tape off, pulling David's hand from the torture and lying it in his lap. He does the same with the other hand, as David falls to his side, exhausted from the unfolding events. La Envidia Mata releases David's ankles, then stands and holds David on either side of his head. “You hear me? Huh, DVD?” La Envidia Mata slaps David across the face, and David crumples to the floor, banging his head, sending a numb shockwave down his spine. “The death of your child should be the least of your worries. The death of your soul is all I care about, and in turn, all you should care about as well. That woman, your child, they are nothing. Let them die. You can come with me, and will rule the world together. We will force them all to bow to us, and to accept nothingness into their lives. We will rule them all, keep them all on leashes... all of them will gravel at our feet, and it will be our sole priority to kick them away and starve them of every necessity until all of SVO has perished, and The Corporation are the only men left standing... We will find others that deserve to die slow agonizing deaths. Then you and I can force them all down the spiral.” La Envidia Mata kneels down beside David. “Believe in Nothing.” It is as if the concept is just born unto La Envidia Mata, having been carried like a back-breaking baby in the womb of dark ideas. La Envidia Mata had impregnated her, sure, but waiting patiently for the day when the child of darkness would arrive. Baby Nothing wails a newborn cry, it's lungs breathing in the stabbing pains of air. La Envidia Mata carefully pulls it away from it's mother, cleaning the placenta and surrounding fluids from it's body as it shivers in the cold. “There, there.” La Envidia Mata coos, as he cuts the umbilical cord and presents the bundle of darkness to DVD. “This is your new daughter.” La Envidia Mata says, softly. “Her name is Nothing.” But reality slaps the baby out of La Envidia Mata's hand, then delivers a hard right hand to his face. “Damn you!” And a cold sneer wipes the moment of joy from La Envidia Mata's face, and he walks back and then kicks David in the ribs. But David has succumbed to the pain, and does not move. La Envidia Mata grabs David's hand and drags him towards the large oak wood door. La Envidia Mata opens the door to expose a wicked darkness mixed with a tumultuous rain, lit only by fleeting bolts of lightning in the distance. La Envidia Mata grabs David's hand and continues to drag David outside. The rain patters hard against both men, but La Envidia Mata pays no attention, and naked David is too weathered himself to be capable of noticing a difference. David's feet make deep impressions in the mud, two long lines marking his path. La Envidia Mata trudges forward into a large red barn. The darkness is overwhelming, nothing to be seen, not even the slightest sparkle of bright lightning from between a crack in the wood. Surely, if La Envidia Mata were struck with the lightning, this madness would have stopped. But the rain patter on the tin barn roof proves otherwise, as La Envidia Mata drags David further into the shadow. The click of a light switch ushers in a blinding white light. So blinding, that La Envidia Mata falls to his knees, covering his face with his dark leather arm. The glass shatters and sparks shoot down as one of the overhead lights blows, sending the barn into nothing more than pale orange glow. La Envidia Mata slowly removes his arm to reveal a sinister smile. Upon further examination, stacks of hay line the wall to the left, and a big green tractor sits patiently awaiting it's adventure outside the barn. But there, in the wide open middle, is a steel cage that resembles a dog kennel. The cage stands 15 feet tall, 20 feet wide, and is a monstrous mesh of steel. La Envidia Mata drags David over to the door of the cage, and promptly slides David in, locking the door behind him. “When locked inside of a cage, you have nothing. Nothing but the confines of nothingness.” La Envidia Mata laughs a maniacal laugh, as he trudges his way towards the door to the barn, and without hesitation, switches the light to the barn off. He trudges his mud stained boots out the door and back towards the house. Gritting his teeth together, the rain pattering into his eyes, La Envidia Mata announces to the world: I have had my vision. ---Nothing.--- |
