There was such a suffocating silence that David Mata was afraid La Envidia Mata would never speak again. David lays, sprawled out on the bed, his ribs wrapped tightly in a tan Ace bandage. La Envidia Mata sits in a black metal folding chair, half turned away from David. A black curtain had fell between the two of them, a curtain that both of them helped create, and that both of them were getting ready to rip to shreds. “I don't understand,” David says, “Why would someone be trying to kill you?” La Envidia Mata didn't speak, he only pondered in his head all of the possibilities. Billy Ransom, DVD, Tobias Devereux, Limp, Asesino, Melanie Benson... hell it could have been anyone looking to get their hands on the God of Wrestling, anyone who was looking for the destruction of La Envidia Mata, anyone who wanted to lift the gloomy cloud from overhead of the SVO. Then, in a peculiar twist, Manuel A. Diaria pops into La Envidia Mata's head, delivering a $2,000 bounty to a sniper to shoot La Envidia Mata between the eyes. He was grooming Raven and DJ to take over The Corporation. La Envidia Mata had become a liability, Diaria could no longer have La Envidia Mata. But such unnecessary thoughts plagued La Envidia Mata every day of his life. He kept saying over and over to himself “Believe in nothing, Believe in nothing” as if he was going to be able to hold onto it, even though it was slipping through his fingers. He was well aware that the destruction he had laid upon the XWF in the past was armageddon compared to what he was accomplishing now. Somehow, something happened to make him turn on himself again. Something screamed in his head day and night that he was wrong, what he was doing was wrong, but he could not figure what it was. He thought perhaps someone had laid a magical emerald beneath his pillow, cursing him in the direction of good. What was this strange feeling? David Mata was the strange feeling. La Envidia Mata turns and stares at David Mata with a monstrous glare, a glare so powerful and magnetic, it causes David to turn his head and stare back, but both of them are staring at the curtain. “Tell me something,” La Envidia Mata finally says, “What did you do before you came back?” David Mata, half shocked, half afraid for his life, choose not to respond to the question. Perhaps it was rheorical, and he was not supposed to respond. “What did you do since the last time we met?” La Envidia Mata asked. A hint of evil was in La Envidia Mata's voice, somewhat accusatory, David thought. Of course, everyone knew where David was. David was out of work, having squandered every penny of his life savings away, and coming into the SVO with his pants down, not only because he was mentally masturbating to La Envidia Mata, but because he had no other choice but to accept the work. “I was working with another client.” David lies, but quickly turns his eyes away from La Envidia Mata, feeling deep down that La Envidia Mata has caught him. David gulps, nervously. “Who?” “I'm sorry?” “Who were you working with?” La Envidia Mata asks. “A client, I told you. God damn. Is this twenty questions?” And that was enough to set La Envidia Mata spiraling down, down, down, down deep into a firey anger, a blazing anger that scorched the entire room, an anger so intense that La Envidia Mata's whole body goes numb, and he is oblivious to his own existence. La Envidia Mata rises from his chair with smoke filled eyes, and burns his way to David at bedside. David turns his head as far away as he can, until his neck is stretched to it's farthest possible distance. David prays that La Envidia Mata will go away, that he'll leave him alone and that his ignorance of any sort of fire would be enough to quench it. But, to no avail as David's avoidance only pours gasoline onto La Envidia Mata, and sets him blazing higher than before. La Envidia Mata reaches his hand out, and lightly pokes David Mata in the ribs. “You piece of garbage!” David screams. “Don't!” But it was only a spark, and La Envidia Mata plans on engulfing David in pain. La Envidia Mata sticks his hand out in a fist, then opens it up and pushes his palm down on David's injured ribs. “You sick freak! Stop! Stop! Stop!” La Envidia Mata withdraws his hand. “Please don't do this. Don't. Please.” David pleads. Some sick pleasure overcomes La Envidia Mata, arouses him, and suddenly he withdraws himself from the bedside entirely and charges over to the wall. He rears his hand back and punches the wall as hard as he can, drilling a hole through the plaster. “Damn it!” La Envidia Mata screams. To say that David wasn't experiencing some sort of masochistic pleasure from being punished would have been a lie, but that's the lie he would have told so as to not seem questionable to anyone. David lies in the bed, soaking in the pain, and with each tremor of agony, David grunts in delight. And so David Mata fell out into a different world, and spiraled down a lot as La Envidia Mata, but not into a fiery anger, into a place beyond anger, a place which is, to the general observer, inexplicably blissful. Perhaps to the general observer, the sexual overtones ring clear, but one should be careful in examining the complex relationship between these two men. There is something beyond sexual that occurs when two men achieve their purpose through unintentional cooperation. A fruitless orgasm of ectstasy... It is not that these particular two men covet one another's bodies, no, but rather they seek the gratification, the affirmation of purpose. And for David Mata and La Envidia Mata... they are relishing in the moment, each breathing heavily, bodies gleefully convulsing, ejaculating a minor achievement into the world, hoping it impregnates and begins fostering other such achievements. La Envidia Mata grabs the lamp and shatters it on the floor. Then he slams his fist against the door over and over again. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” David screams. And La Envidia Mata continues his rampage, flipping over furniture, shattering mirrors, throwing books across the room, anything that can be destroyed will be destroyed. But something turned in David, and ecstasy quickly turned to terror, as David realized La Envidia Mata had completed his drug test, and was heading into Showdown blind. So David had a brief moment of anxiety which made him burn with indifference, and any raging pleasure had escaped his body. He immediately thought of Asesino, for some reason unbeknown to him. But he knew it was important. He allowed La Envidia Mata to continue his rampage, to rant, rave, and destroy... and stop the shadow from radiating inward, but now it radiated outward again... and David was sure that La Envidia Mata was going to destroy everything, and prayed that La Envidia Mata would destroy the drug test results before they made it public. La Envidia Mata opened the door to the room, and stormed out into the hallway, screaming and grunting, punching and kicking. David sat thinking about the 6 man tag team match. Would La Envidia Mata be in the match? Who would replace him? Where will the Corporation go? How long will La Envidia Mata be gone? So much ran through David's head. It all keeps running, until finally the pain overcomes David, and his eyes become heavy, he pulls the covers up to his chin, and drifts off to a deep exhausted slumber filled with questions. And when David awakes, he feels himself strangely relieved, the nagging pain of his ribs now just a minor ache. David flips the covers off, and begins to slide out of the bed. “Stop.” A voice calls. David freezes, turns to his side and notices that there, perched on the end table is an empty syringe. “Don't move.” “What's going on?” “I gave you something for the pain.” David looks up and over to see La Envidia Mata sitting with his back up against the wall, with no shirt on, his hair covering his face. “You did what!?” David screams. David trues to stand up, but crumples to the floor. “God Damn it!” David yells. “I wanted to make sure you were awake and concentrated when I told you something very important.” “You drugged me! I could lose my job! Where did you get the drugs?!” La Envidia Mata pushes himself off the wall and crawls on all fours over to David Mata. La Envidia Mata stops just beside him, and David tries to take a swing at La Envidia Mata, but La Envidia Mata holds David's arm down. “I learned something very valuable last night. I was very close to destroying you. But last night you allowed me to delve back into that realm of destruction that has not been tapped for weeks, and I realized that you can be useful after all. But you must realize that you cannot control what you do not understand. You do not understand me. You never will understand me. You will not control me. But David, you can join me... join me in destroying this world... join me in ruining the lives of those that cause me pain... join me in embracing nothingness. You cannot be the master of nothingness, but you can be an instrument of destruction. You have a choice. Make it.” “Are you serious?” David says, laughing nervously. “You think that your reign over SVO is going to continue? It's obvious that you're doing drugs! You are completely insane, and Sunday night on Showdown you're going to get suspended.” “You cannot take something away from someone who has nothing.” “You're such a God damn hypocrite... You don't understand that you DO HAVE SOMETHING. You have talent, a Manager, an owner willing to do anything for you, and you are the leader of The Corporation. You are the number one guy.” “David, it seems as though your perception has blinded you. Must I remind you I have nothing?” “Hah! You have nothing? You have everything.” “No. I have nothing. What I possess is the evidence of the nothing that I have. I have taken from everyone what they want most and turned it into nothing. Again... I will ask you... You can either join me as evidence of nothingness willingly...” La Envidia Mata reaches into his pants pocket and pulls out a butcher's knife. “Or I will take you the hard way.” David gulps. He gulps so hard that lump in his throat gets stuck, and the scene spirals into an unforgivable black. -Finished- |
