Take a trip.....to the DVD Zone.

The scene opens up inside an elevator.

In this elevator we have two men. One on the right, is short and stocky, the other on the left, is tall and slender. Both men are wearing dark suits and dark ties. Both men have business in this building. They both have never been to this building before. They don't know each other. They don't have anything in common.

But both have a date with destiny today. Both men have a tale to tell.

The man on the left is named Cliff. He is a caucasian man, about 33. He is a public relations expert who also specializes in management. He has a family of 2, a wife, Claire, and a 5 year old boy named Geoff. Cliff however, although he is at heart a good man, has the tendency to be insensitive.

His wife was recently in a car accident. Not too major...she dislocated her spine a little, and her right hip is higher than her left. She gets constant headaches....but she loves her husband and is devoted to him. But he is insensitive. He loves her, but he is constantly neglecting spending time with her. Case in point....just yesterday, Cliff was supposed to spend time with his wife today.

Claire: But Honey, I really wanted to spend some quality time with you. You promised me tomorrow....

Cliff: I know. But I gotta head to this office for a presentation. Don't worry, we get to spend time at some point.

Claire: But honey, I was really looking forward to tomorrow. I can't even go with you? I don't mind waiting in the lobby. Just so I can be close to you.

Cliff: No.....the higher-ups wouldn't even let you in.

Claire: You can't explain that your wife came with you just to help you organize?

Cliff: Um no....hey, I'm going to head out to the store now...we need lettuce, right?

Cliff proceeds to leave his loving wife standing there, hurt. She felt he didn't value their time. She felt for the first time, that she wasn't very important. She limped to the living room, a tear in her eye.

Cliff stands in the elevator, thinking about how he can move up with his firm. He then thinks for a moment about his wife. Maybe he should take the day off after this and take her somewhere. Or cook something nice.

No.....he has to keep working. He can't risk his schedule for her. Or for their marriage. But the whole time, she is suffering.

Cliff glances over at his counterpart in the elevator. The short stocky half italian, half mexican Leo is thinking different thoughts.

Leo is a derranged criminal. He has robbed a couple of liquor stores in his time, armed robbery, assault. Typical for a street thug such as him. He's 26,. and had a rough childhood. His dad was a member of the mafia. His mom was a part of a cocaine drug ring. At a young age, the DEA busted the ring, arresting his mom and sending her to federal prison for 55 years.

So no mom. Dad kept his hands out of the serious stuff. Dad was a low-level thug when Leo was brought into the world. He moved up though to an enforcer of sorts. That made his dad a regular murderer.

One day dad killed a member of a el salvadoran gang. They responded by blowing up their house. Dad got himself and young Leo out in time. But they had to go into hiding after that. The mafia relocated them to Chicago from their ordinary New York home.

So from there Leo took that step off the deep end into organized crime. He was a maniac, he would think of the most weird ways to do anything. His dad eventally was arrested by the DEA on suspicion of heroin distribution. Dad wouldn't give up the mafia....you can't go against the family. So he had always planned for the day that he might be caught. He had spent much of his time gathering intel on the El Salvadoran drug rings that rivaled the mobs. So at this point, dad gave up several checkpoints and other key distribution locations for the Salvadorans.

At any rate, here's where young Leo went down a darker path. The Salvadorans learned of dad's actions, and dispite protective custody, they got to him, cutting off his testicles and stabbing him in the heart. Young Leo was driven near insanity, and swore revenge on them.

Fast forward to last night. Leo has been trying to trace the business contact for the Salvadorans. This person was probably laundering money. Leo spoke to someone who he thought was a low-level Mexican thug. But in reality they were a Salvadoran gang member. Mexicans and El Salvadorans feud at all levels of crime, and tonight was no exception....the salvadoran directed Leo to the Mexicans Business contact, knowing full well Leo's hatred for the Salvadorans, they decided to use him. Cripple business for the Mexicans, and eliminated Leo without getting involved. Perfect.

Leo got a remote detonator bomb. It was button activated and the small switch fit in his hand, and the bomb was taped to his back under his pants. It was a potent enough small C-4 bomb. It would take out the office, killing his target instantly.

Now he waits in the elevator next to insensitive Cliff. Leo stands, hands trembling, lips quivering.....until Cliff speaks a few words to break them seemingly endless silence.

Cliff: You ever get the feeling that you should've done something else?

Leo stares straight ahead, not saying anything. Cliff glances at him, but he isn't really talking to Leo. He is talking mostly to himself, and Leo is merely the audience.

Cliff: I think I should've done something different. Not like with my life, that sounds corny, huh? No, I mean I should've done something different today. I should've made a different choice. I could've taken, no SHOULD'VE taken an alternate route in my life today.

Leo at this point turns his head towards the now reminisent Cliff. Inside, Leo is smiling because he knows that Cliff is about to die. If he had made whatever choice, he wouldnt have to be one of the victims. Collateral damage.

Cliff: Just think, one different choice could change the entire course of your life. I could've spent today with my wife. maybe landed a huge client I bumped into while discussing politics with my democratic wife. But I dont know. Maybe there is a force that steers you towards your fate. Sounds pretty weird, huh? My wife beleives in this.

At that moment, Leo smiles. He says nothing, but in his mind is thinking that is is really this man's destiny to die today. A moment later, the elevator door opens. Cliff and Leo are headed to the same office. Leo walks a little slower, knowing that infinity awaits.

At that moment, DVD steps from the stairwell. He forgot his cell phone on the desk of the secretary of the same office that Leo is headed to. DVD makes a beeline for the office.

DVD quickly gets to the front desk, happy to see his blackberry being extended to him by Julie, the secretary who really isn't all that pretty. DVD walks back, then nearly bumps into Leo.

DVD: Excuse me.

At that moment, Julio appears, Leo's target.

Leo points at a pencil lying on the table next to Julio, who is reading a file blankly.

Leo: In 3 seconds, I'm going to make that pencil....DISSAPPEAR!

DVD catches eye of the palm detonator, TOO LATE he thinks if pressed now, DVD would surely be blown away.

At that precise moment, Leo clutches at his chest with his free hand, eyes bulging, and he is struggling for breath. DVD is frozen, knowing running is useless.....

Leo however, knows that destiny is absolute.

In his enterinty in hell, he learns that his destiny was to come so close to blowing up the top floor of an office building and killing 20-30 people....

Only to die of a heart attack cause by his accelerated heart rate and artery blockage. His heart simply gave out.

Leo drops to the floor, the thumb poised over the detonator. The thumb a frozen reminder of how fate works.

Cliff is there too, echoing his own words of destiny and choices and alternate routes in his own mind.

While DVD is thanking God above that he is on this Earth with a purpose and simply cannot die until he does what he is supposed to do. At least that's what DVD thinks.

As DVD calls 911, he smiles nervously, knowning that Showdown is his destiny. He wrestles his first SVO match....now time to claim his destiny. The SVO World title but first he must rid of The Corporation.

The moral of this story is that sometimes, making the best choice for your loved ones is just as important as making the best choice for yourself. Take time out to make sure that those you love and those who love you know that they are important.

Cause Cliff could've easily died because he didn't make the right choice.

But I bet he is now spending as much time with sweet Claire as possible.
