“Don't be so selfish bro, this is my career and I will make the choices about what I do and wont do mayne.” Orlando Fox stands nose to nose with his brother TJ in the front room of their mothers house in Compton, LA. In Orlando Fox's hand is a letter, but in TJ's hand is another letter. The brothers stare each other down for a few seconds before TJ breaks the silence. “Look I know that you were the Hardcore Champion there last time, but if you join the SVO again it is going to mean that we will have to move to Las Vegas permanently. We take this offer from the LAWF and we can stay right here!” Orlando Fox shakes his head as if he can't believe what he is hearing. His braided hair flaps around on his shoulders as he plays with his gold watch that he wears on his left wrist. “Look around TJ. Why the hell do you want to stay around here? I know this is where we group up, but this place is a dump! Most people around here would give anything for the chance to get out.... well we have that chance!” Orlando Fox looks into the eyes of his brother and can tell that he doesn't understand where he is coming from. Ever since he was younger his brother was always obsessed with being a local celebrity. Only problem is that the life expectancies of local celebrities isn't a high one. “Open your eyes Orlando. Don't act like a big shot now that you got a few offers and a little paper. This is our hood Orlando. Forget about the people round here, we gonna take over with the rep you can get being a big star in the LAWF. They offering major paper and everyone around here gonna be doing all they can to be tight with us!” It was true that the only two things that the neighbourhood valued were money and power, but the last thing that Orlando wanted was everyone leeching off of his success. After the death of his money all he had left was his brother. He would look out for his brother financially, but everyone else had no stake to his money as far as he was concerned. “TJ, I'm not doing this for the hood and I ain't doing this to stay in the area brother. I am doing this for my career. I know I can walk back into the SVO and make a big impact there. All the spotlight is on the SVO right now because of their return. The first time I was there I won the Hardcore title, this second time I know I can go onto bigger and better things. This invitation right here.....” Orlando Fox waves the letter in his hand in front of his brothers face. “.... this offers me a chance to fight in a tournament for the SVO World Heavyweight title! If I won that belt I wouldn't just be big in the hood, I would be big in the whole country!” TJ shakes his head once again, no matter what Orlando Fox says to him, there is nothing that can persuade him otherwise. “Bro, I'm trying to look out for you here mayne. No matter what they offering you in the SVO, I know we can get it in the LAWF as well. You been on a role over the past year and you can demand the big bucks. Lets just do it for this place and bring it up with us. Besides, why would you want to be a Heavyweight Champion over at the SVO, didn't their last one die?” Orlando Fox shrugs his shoulders as he walks away from his brother and looks at the picture of his mother which hangs proudly on the wall. “And what would moms wants TJ? She would want us to get out of this place when we had the chance. She didn't work three jobs whilst we was growing up for us to stay here. She did it for us to get a chance to get out of the hood. We got the chance right now and you want to turn it down? You not thinking straight bro. If you want to stay here then you do just that, I'm heading to Vegas and I am going to make it big.” TJ screws the letter up from the LAWF and tosses it on the floor angrily. “You know what bro, I thought you would listen to me. I got your best interests at heart and you ain't gonna take advice from your own brother. This success has gone to your head man. Don't come crying to me when it goes bad in Vegas and you left with nothing.” Orlando Fox bites his lip as TJ storms out of the house and slams the door behind him. Fox is left all alone in his mothers old apartment. The memories of growing up swirls around in Fox's head. Growing up his mother had always been there for him and stressed the importance of family. She had worked multiple jobs at a time just to support Orlando Fox and his brother. The father of the two boys was never around and Orlando couldn't even remember what he looked like. He knew that his mother would be looking down on him, urging him to take the opportunity that she had never been granted to get out of the lifestyle and area that she despised. However Orlando also knew that she would be looking down and hoping that he would do right by his family and take his brother with him. Snapping out of the memories and thoughts, Orlando Fox makes his way out of the house and after his brother. Quickly catching sight of his brother across the street with several other guys from the hood, Orlando Fox makes his way over to them. As he gets closer, Orlando realises that things might not seem as innocent as he had first guessed they were. He can hear raised voices and one of the men wearing all blue seems to be gesturing towards his brother TJ in a threatening manor. “Your gonna give us the fucking money TJ otherwise we gonna cut you up and burn down that fucking house of yours boy!” TJ seems to be just nodding along and trying to calm the situation down as his brother arrives at his side. “What the hell is going on TJ? Who are these three guys?” TJ spins around to see his brother by his side, and looks at him angrily. “Just mind your own business Orlando. Go on and think about uping sticks and moving to Vegas. You don't belong here.” The three men wearing blue smirk at Orlando Fox as he receives a telling out from his brother, before the leader of the three interrupts. “I'll tell you who we are Orlando. We are the protection in this neighbourhood, and your brother owes us paper. Now either he gonna pay up right now or we gonna teach both you guys a lesson.” The man in blue shoves Orlando Fox backwards, causing red mist to descend in the mind of the former SVO Hardcore Champion. “Don't ever touch me again.” The three men begin to laugh in the direction of Orlando Fox, as TJ shakes his head at his brother. “This ain't your wrestling ring here boy! This is the streets and things are real round here. Take your brothers advice and do one! You don't belong around here Orlando!” The leader of the group makes another attempt to shove Orlando Fox, however Fox grabs him by the arms and slams him to the floor face first. The other two men in blue stare at their leader for a few seconds in shock that anyone would dare do such a thing, before swinging their fists in the direction of Orlando Fox. Fix quickly deals with both of them using his fighting training, and they go the same way as their leader, face first to the floor. “What the fuck do you think you are doing Orlando? Do you know who these guys are?” Orlando Fox finally snaps with his brother. “Who cares who they are? Why the hell you let them speak to you like that. They were gonna rob money from you and you were just going to let them. Why the hell you want to stay around here for and deal with people like that anyway?” T.J begins to walk away from his brother in frustration, but Orlando Fox catches up with him and spins him around by the shoulder. “Don't walk away from me TJ, answer the question! Why the hell do you want to stay here and deal with people like that on a day to day basis? You wanna be a thug like them? You wanna get shot up and end up dead in a ditch. We got the opportunity to get out, why won't you take it?” TJ stares at Orlando Fox for a few seconds, before stepping close to him and answering. “It doesn't matter now, it looks like you just made my mind up for me. We stay around here and they are going to come back with their friends and kill us. Lets get the fuck out of here before this happens.” Fox nods his head. “This means you will come to Vegas with me to the SVO?” “What the fuck choice to I have, I can't stay around here no more. Not with what you just did. Lets get the hell out of here so I can think up a plan.” Orlando Fox nods his head begrudgingly. It might not be the way he imagined it, but his brother would be coming to the SVO with him after all. The SVO might have only just reopened with a whole knew roster, but with his brother as his side, Orlando Fox knew there was only one place he was heading for. The top. |
