"Finally, I'm home." I walk in through the door of my shitty one bedroom apartment, set up for me courtesy of sVo Management, and sigh. Getting back from Toronto was hard, especially since I brought back some "extra luggage" with me. Then there was the quack session this afternoon, where I was forced to recount a few dreams I've been having lately. Meh. Everybody dreams. I'll get over it. I notice that I have several messages on my answering machine. I hit a small button, and they automatically begin playing. I moe about the apartment, setting things to rights, barely listening to the audio. "Hey, Nathan. It's Emma Bourke from sVo. I hope you like the place we set up for you, of course it's just temporary until you start raking in some serious cash..." Cash? Pfft. Wouldn't that be nice. You'd think that beating Cody Williams into line would qualify me for a pay rise, but noooo. Paige Johnson decides to lavish money on her little boyfriends while the rest of us slave and toil away. "BEEP! Yo Nat, it's Billy. Just heard about your new address, man, I'm flying out ta Vegas soon. We gotta meet up, have a drink togther or something..." Plenty of time for catching up with old friends after I've fufilled my current agenda... That is, the total decimation of everyhting "220" related. I figured that would be the best way to stop the damned dreams. Maybe, once all reminders are gone, they'll just stop. "BEEP! Hey, Nathan Paradine? It's Shelley Roetz, from United Wrestling Magazine, wondering if we could trouble you for an interview... An interview? Well, I guess any publicity is good publicity, as they say. Sitting down and talking with some shitty backyard wrestling magazine about my battles with Cody Williams is a better way to get my name out than anyhting, I guess. For all I know, this magazine could be a big hit with the indy fans. "BEEP! Nathan, it's Emma Bourke again, just calling to let you know that a Roulette Night will be taking place this Sunday, Miss Johnson said to just call me back if you had any inquiries..." Wait, what? A Roulette Night!? I was sitting on the secondhand couch, flicking through a magazine when I heard this. I stood up, and in a few short steps was standing next to the phone again. I punched in a number, and heard the telltale ringing tone. Finally, the other end picked up. "sVo Offices, Emma Bourke speaking?" Wow, I actually got Emma. Usually she would leave the messages, then when I called back Jack or someone else would pick up. Emma answering was something new. Plus, she was hot; a bouns. "Emma, it's Nathan Paradine, I'm calling about this 'Roulette Night" taking place on Sunday?" "Oh, hey Nathan. Yeah, hang on just a sec." I heard a few clicks, and then a beep. Finally, Emma began speaking again. "Yeah, okay. All the info I have now is what is already on sVo.Com... Basically, all the members of the roster will be put into a random draw, and any members of the roster could end up fighting each other, in any kind of match, for any of the sVo titles." I stood, shocked for a moment. This was both a blessing and a curse. A curse in the fact that I would go into the night totally unprepared for what layed ahead. The blessing was, the same thing would be going for my opponent. And if my opponent happened to be a champion, well, even better. Already I could imagine the possibilities... "Are you sure about this, Emma?" "Positive, Nathan. Like I said, just check sVo.Com, and see if there are any updates between now and Sunday..." "Will do. Thank you, Emma." "Anytime, Nathan. Bye." I ended the call with the push of a button, and sat the phone back on the reciever. So, Roulette Night. Not only would I reveal what had become of Sasha Williams, but I had a chance at achieving untold glory at the same time. Imagine if I were to take on Alex Ross in a Submission match for the World heavyweight Championship. He would be in my territory, fighting me at my own game. A game he would ultimately lose. Hell, even taking him on in a non-title match and winning would give my career a boost. Or what if I took on someone like Gunner Lang? A former sVo Tag Team and las Vegas Champion. One of the company pinnacles. It would be a nice shot in the arm of my career to beat Gunner Lang. Or Travis Williams! A chance to avenge my first-ever sVo loss. The man has become soft and weak, our roles are reversed. For when we first battled, he was the bad guy, the guy you wanted to hate, fresh off a loss to Lupus Nebula, Noir, whatever the hell his name is, in the Evolution Cup. ow, I'm the bad one, and Travis is the underling seeking to "make his son proud". Family. Friends. A life. All are unessessary in the career of an sVo superstar. I walk over to my ancient computer and fire up the hard drive. I ease into the black leather chair sitting at the computer desk, and stare at the loading screen as I contemplate more of my potential opponents. Sensei Shredder! Another embarrasing loss that will be corrected, one way or another. Or his tag team partner, Blaze, the real brains of that particular team. Blaze is a true threat. My desktop loads, and I hit Internet Explorer. I moment later, after a quick Google search for "SVO", the official hompage is loaded. I'm greeted with an image of my own face, next to the Countdown to Violence results. As a certain someone pointed out to me, Countdown to Violence was one of the best Pay Per Views ever, and there were three title changes, but it was MY picture that was used to promote the recaps. You gotta feel some kind of pride for that. I hit the "sVo Events" tab, and load the Showdown page. This week on Showdown the sVo heads back to Las Vegas as the fallout from Countdown to Violence begins! The sVo celebrates its return home with the first ever sVo roulette night. Anyone could be pitted against anyone else on the night in any type of match! Paige searches for answers, Alex Ross celebrates his triumph, a secret from the sVo Vendetta PPV in April is revealed and Night struggles to find out who he is protecting his manager from. Below the event summary was a list of the competing superstars. I nod, and quikly galnce through the list. Peter Gilmour;s name is missing. Meh, that isn't a big loss. It's not like anyone will miss his masked face for a week. Night's name is missing too, for reasons unknown. The International Champion is safe, for this week at least. Christian Roman and Frank James. Two men who won titles at Countdown to Violence, two men who would be honorable opponents. At least, Roman would be. I've seen the qy this "Frank James" operates, and it isn't with honor. My kind of guy. Or what about one of the newbies? Reaper and Faith are both hardly newbies, and Faith is actually kinda... cute. Reaper (yarr, me hearties!) is also scarred looking enough to have either been in a thousand brawls, or in a nasty chainsaw accident. Both Reaper and Faith would be deadly in the ring, and since it appears that they may have had some previous knowledge of each other, they could be an even deadlier tandem. Talon and TJ Raven are both guys to look out for, both men have talent and the skills to back it up. Talon has shown over the last few weeks that he isn't just a clone of Alex Ross, and that he actually does have a personality, and TJ raven is back in his hometown. With the support of the crowd, anyhting can happen with that guy. Or the Sex Symbols, JD Hart and Sean Peters. A little fruity, but hey, I'll show them a beating their boyfriends won't. They'll be too sore to bite pillows when I'm done witrh them. As Howie would say... No homo. Or William Vorheez, the guy who believes he is teetering on the edge of becoming Lucifer himself. Hey Willy, ever seen Constantine? Or End of Days? Well, I'm your Keanu Reeves, your Arnold Shawrznegger, the guy to put you back in your place and make you my bitch. It's become apparant that even hell has rejects. An enternity of suffering will be NOTHING compared to what you will face if we have to step into that ring together. Suddenly, I am besieged by a popup. A freakin' popup on the sVo homepage. Shit. I click it, expecting a virus or a screen to come up telling me I've won a free PS3 or something. Nothing of the sort happens, in fact, an ad begins to play for the Roulette Night. I watch avidly, wondering whether this may give me any more info. "The Sanctioned Violence Organization... the most hard-hitting wrestling promotion in years..." I watch, as videos are shown of various Mike Polowy/Psyko Stevo battles, and then an image of Night with the International Championship. "This Sunday night, live from the Goodfellas Casino in Las Vegas, prepare to be shocked as Paige Johnson gambles with every match on the card in a special Roulette Night where anything can happen!" Anything can happen, huh? I watch as the video ends. I stare at the screen a while longer, and then sigh. The phone begins to ring, and I answer it, wondering who would be calling me now. "Nathan? Oh thank god. It's Emma. Listen, I found out who you might be facing. It's-" "Emma." I cut into her talk easily, much as I did to the psychiatrist. "I don't want to know who I'm facing. Can you keep it a suprise, for me?" "Oh, but I thought you'd want to know..." She sounded disappointed. "I do want to know, but I'd rather find out Sunday night. Because, I'm in the mood for a suprise." "Oh really?" "Really. I want to be suprised on SUnday night, Emma, beacause..." I glance back at my computer screen, to where the videos are still playing... "Anything can happen, dear Emma." |
