(title: It is not megalomaniacal for me to expect you to talk about me) “There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. ” Oscar Wilde The sounds of revolutions have been heard on many fields over time; the rebellion has echoed across our lands. The bugle and drums all once started out as faint sounds in the distance. Yet, over time, they grew louder and louder as new men appeared ready to wage a hell of a fight to ward of oppression and bring change. There have been many revolutions since the days that the Greek's have fought to honor their Gods. The battlefields have seen more blood shed on them from the loyal servants of the tyrant than water it has felt raining down from the clouds. However, not every revolution was a bloody battle; there have been many times where the right has prevailed in people's minds in bloodless battles. Al though, in the shadows there has always been a sword, a gun, a cannon, or another weapon of the day ready to bring change; the black cloud of smoke was only a few seconds away. When people feel respected, when people feel as though when they give their best and get what is deserved to them, when people do the right thing and it results in the right thing happening then there is no need for change. Why would anyone want to change when everything is going great? On the contrary, when someone feels disrespect they must seek change. When someone does their best and gets spits on, they must seek change. We all know that when we get taxed and we don't have any representation that it is the greatest time for liberty to prevail, and for those who were rubbing our heads down in the mud and trying to preserve their old ways to be overthrown. Many men have felt the same hatred towards them. Whether it be the Zionist in Israel who are threatened every day for living in the Middle East, the Mexican mowing grass to try to have a few dollars in El Paso, the Indian driving the taxi around Manhattan, the black man in England hearing people mimic the sounds of a monkey as he tries to play soccer, or the white man getting shot at in Nigeria for being different. No matter how different they all are, they all face the same types of discrimination. They are all went somewhere to try to better themselves and hated for doing so. No Irish Need Apply. They were hungry. The Irish people had to look at their land and saw that they had no food left. In order to survive, they had to move. They had to go into England, they had to take a boat over to America. They had to, if they didn't so many Irish people would die. Once they came into the country, they faced these signs that told them that they were unwanted, they were told that the rats that fought in the bar rooms and brothels as crowds of onlookers placed bets on them were more valuable than the Irishmen. Perhaps you would expect to see Mike Manson on a battlefield right now, but he's not. He's not in Boston, or with any Irish. Knowing that he has to be in Toronto on Sunday maybe you are expecting that he is in Canada, but he's not. Mike Manson: “Some people are set in their ways. They see the new people, the immigrants, coming in looking for opportunity and happiness as the scum of the earth. Every time that these new people make a suggestion, the old staunch people yell that they are trying to ruin everything. Things might be pretty for the people on the top, after all, they were able to climb to the top with these rules. The people on the bottom are the ones wanting change, the immigrants want something different, so who cares right?” Mike Manson: “Just listen, another movement is coming here to the sVo, too! Don't you hear the dissatisfaction in the voices of the people here? Change is being insisted upon by the new people here. The old-timers who manipulated the system to run from competition and politic their way to the top might just try to ward us off by saying, 'Hey, you saw the rules and you still joined it. Now shut up and play by the rules.' How interesting, is that what they told the Irish too when they wanted food when they came to America looking for work during the Potato Famine? The message is that it is okay to be opressed against, I guess?” Mike Manson: “The people who still like this direction should worry though, because we are not low class immigrants who run out of Mexican jails, jump the border, then work on fields in America- picking tomatoes and shitting on them giving you salmonella. No, no, no. If you want to continue with this analogy, then we are the scientist, doctors, lawyers, and professors who left Nazi Germany. The revolution that we seek is not one of hatred, or us wanting to steal your belts. No, this is a revolution of respect and equality.” Not letting you forget that he is actually here for professional wrestling, there he is in an old wrestling ring. He is sitting down on a stool in one of the corners of the ring. He is leaning his bald head against one of the turnbuckles. He is wearing his ring clothing; he has on black shorts with blue trim and a black hoodie that has a silver logo with letter cut into the middle of it. The hoodie's hood is not over his head, rather it is hanging on the turnbuckle he is resting his head on. Mike Manson: “Are you lost? Do you not understand what is going on here? Well, let's talk about the respect. Like when it is perfectly fine to never mention your opponent, well, that is a lack of respect there. A few days ago, Matt Thornhill's opponent did not mention him once. Instead, he decided that instead of training against Matt, that he would worry about his own tag team partner's sexuality. Yet, he got the nod for the victory and Matt was left scratching his head pondering what the fuck just happened.” Mike Manson: “You might be wondering why exactly I'm taking up the plight of Matt Thornhill. Well, because it matters to us all, as a company, as human beings. Personally, it matters because it shows a trend where in this company you can just ignore everything and still have upwards mobility. A few weeks ago, I had to wrestle Zero. He didn't train against me, he talked about some random non-sense but not about me. I wasn't even in his sight. Sure, I might have had better luck that night than Matt had in his match... but in the long run, I didn't. Because who got demoted to the Unsanctioned card the week after? Me. Who got put up a bit higher in the Pay Per View? He did. Remember, I did win that match. This isn't about paying dues, because if it was then I would understand that.” Mike Manson: “How about I practice what I preach then; how about I talk about my opponents for upcoming match? Wow, there are sure a lot of people to go against here. Nine other people are in this match and then there is myself. We are all fighting in a battle royal for the entry level title. We are going out for the Las Vegas title. Oh, this should be good.” Mike Manson: “So, where do I begin? Like I said, there are nine of them. Doing my best to still be a gentleman, while not sound misogynist at all... Ladies first. One of the nine is Faith Winchester. Faith, you need help. Apparently, you saw a movie and decided it would be great to base your life story off of it. Well, that seems to go around a bit here at sVo, so maybe you fit in. However, just because you are fitting in with most of the people here doesn't mean I'm not going to shit on you. ” Mike Manson: “Couldn't you pick a better movie than Coyote Ugly? You could have at least said you worked at Hogs and Heifers, the bar that the movie was based off. But nope, you just decided against being original. Anyway, that isn't why you need help, dear. You see, you need help, dear, because you are a fuckin' lunatic with rage issues. When you are in a wrestling ring, you are a wrestler. When you work in a bar, you are a bartender. Okay, now you can't fuckin' go around and mix the two. You can't just go punching your paying customers. How does Lil, you know from the movie Coyote Ugly, still let you work there? Punching someone? I'm sure assault, especially when you are a trained professional fighter, is a felony. You shouldn't be in the ring with me, you should be in jail.” Mike Manson: “Speaking of being unoriginal... Talon! Wow, of all the words in the English language to make as many jokes as you want, you go and say that you might have heard of me... or maybe it was Charlie. Wow, buddy. SLOW DOWN. I need to breathe. Did everyone see how clever he was? Oh man, and he's not going to McDonald's... he is going to McFatass... HAHAHA... You are a fool.” Mike Manson: “You opened your mouth talking to some whore at a bar the other day... and of course she knew who you were... and all your exploits... because every girl in the world knows all about professional wrestling and the story lines... and the ones who do, you know, there is no way that they would sleep with someone they saw on television, knowing things are bits, especially after a few beers in them. Get over yourself. Be a little more original. Learn to tell a story.” Mike Manson: “Oh, and I'm not above making fun of your name... You named yourself, since I know Talon was not your birth name, after a fuckin' piece of shit car that Chrysler and Mitsubishi made. Those cars were fuckin'' horrible, no matter how many companies made them. Which explains why the Eagle brand was discontinued. I hope you make just like the rest of the Talons... You drive into a brick wall filled with AIDS needles and get laughed at by paramedics... That is what happened to the cars, right?” Mike Manson: “So many people, so many people. As professional wrestlers, who spend a lot of time writing and on the road, there are many things that are wrong with our minds. So, it is reasonable for some people to go to therapy. They want to get better. Some times the state realizes that people need help and have to go to court appointed therapist. Right, Nanu? Too bad that you can't pick a good one. You are awful, man. You go to a therapist that says, “Hello, I'm talking to you!” Where did she go to school to get her degree? She is an awful practitioner. And she buys you presents... Research, buddy, research, it will make everything you do so much more enjoyable to everyone else.” Mike Manson: “I would love to sit here and talk about Frank James. The problem is that when he was talking it was pretty incoherent. Yeah, we get it. You are drunk and you are dumb. You think you'll be the world champ not the Las Vegas champ. But, my man, you have to come to Toronto and wrestle not Las Vegas. I can't believe you have such a big conversation with someone and both of you think the conversation was worth continuing.” Mike Manson: “You might not expect this but I actually kinda enjoyed some of what Kaden Alonzo had to say. Until the point where he said that he was done underestimating his opponents... Then completely ignores us. Come on man, you are underestimating me if you don't even mention me. Kaden, I mentioned it earlier that things are starting to change. A revolution is coming. I can feel that you can be on the rightful path. You know, where we have some respect for people... or at least respect them enough to acknowledge them while down playing their intelligence at every possible turn. It's fun, I hope you can join.” Mike Manson: “It is very sad, there are just too many people in this match that I just can't get that personal with anyone. One opponent, we can dance... I'll throw them a ball, they throw me a ball, we get something good going on and everything works fine. Two opponents, it is okay, you throw a ball up and someone tries to grab a rebound. But ten... Look, I already tried to cannonball into a pool so far, but only half the people got wet. Now look at me, I'm climbing again.” Mike Manson: “Now, Quinten Fayte, you probably are a little more used to all these people in a match than I am. After all, at Unsanctioned last week you went up against two people. One of them was my buddy, Matt Thornhill. But you see, buddy, you beat Matt. Hell, you didn't beat JD Hart either. So, you kinda just proved to be irrelevant there, now don't you think. C'mon man, join the fun. Jump right in here, join the fun. Show us that you are important and mean something.” Mike Manson: “Woof, I'm almost done mentioning people. No wonder people don't care enough to mention people around here, it gets a little tiring. Strickland and Rodimus, I watched both of you go at it at Unsanctioned. The match was nothing out of the ordinary. I'm waiting for both of you to show up and get ready for the battle royal. I'll be waiting.” Mike Manson: “And now, to my friends, T.J. Raven and Drew Carrig. I know the anger behind these men, I know they will be part of this revolution. Don't worry people, Bad Religion, or any one else trying to have a big stable rule everything, we aren't a stable. We are much more than that. Stables break apart, there isn't much room for creativity or growing. You see, T.J., Drew, Matt, Gabe (Steven Steele), and myself... well, we are very capable of all working together, seeing the same goal, hating each other, beating each other up, and still not worrying about it. We will be the leaders of the revolution, and not as a collective group, but as individuals who seek change and improvement. Then all the ten other men in this match, will live in a better place because of us.” Mike Manson: “Drew... T.J.... I don't really remember being in a match with both you guys since Rock Bottom... December 2003... But I'm not really even sure if you were all in that match. It will be nice to see how we work this time. It doesn't really even matter if we work together or are the first three to be bloody and eliminated... I'm just ready to see your approaches... and I'm ready to follow the lead... or will I take the lead.... Gentlemen.” The Las Vegas title is the one that all nine men and one woman are competing against in a few days at sVo's Countdown to Violence. It seems somewhat appropriate. Vegas is a beacon of light in the dry, dirty desert. People know Vegas for being different; when people think of Vegas they think of change. Very fitting, that the change, the revolution, starts with men going for this Vegas title. Edited by Mike Manson, Jun 27 2008, 05:11 AM.
