“How ironic is this?” The scene opens to small bar in the downtown core of Monterrey. The air in the bar is thick with cigarette smoke, and the smell of tequila. It is enough to make the average man gag, but for regular patrons, it’s a typical surrounding for a Saturday evening. As the camera pans around the room, Billy Jacobs bursts in through the door, and heads straight for the bar. Billy Jacobs: “How ironic is it that I’m being drawn into the very sin that I was sent here to destroy? You see, tomorrow night at Showdown I have a match against Drew Carrig, but it is no ordinary match. No, it is a ‘Roll the Dice’ match, with the winner getting’ the chance to win a big prize. Now, I’m all for prizes… but it is the method that has me concerned.” Jacobs takes a seat at the end of the bar. As he looks around the room, he can see that all eyes are on him. A blonde haired gringo sitting in their bar… not what most people would expect in a Mexican bar. Jacobs continues to stare around the room, and with each gaze met, the patrons look away. Billy Jacobs: “Fear not, for I will not give into the temptation and sin of it all. This match… I’m not in it for the prizes, and I’m not in it for the recognition. Tomorrow I fight for two things, and two things only.” The bartender starts to walk down the bar towards Jacobs, and is about to ask what he’ll have, but a stern glare from Jacobs sends the bartender back the other way. Billy Jacobs: “First off… I will be fightin’ for the honor and glory of God. With a victory, I will have the chance to take His work to the next level. If I win, God will surely present me with an opportunity to rise above the lower level rabble of this world, and go straight for the throats of the sinners sitting at the top. When I win tomorrow, GOD will give me a gift… GOD will hand me my prize. Rollin’ the dice… covetin’ profits and wealth… those are sins… but for the glory of the Father… what I do tomorrow will be forgiven.” Jacobs gets louder and louder as he continues to talk. The bar patrons are starting to get restless and weary of their out-of-town guest. They just want to drink and play cards in piece. However, Jacobs wants the world to hear what he has to say, and the opinions of these sinners are of no consequence to him. Billy Jacobs: “Secondly… I fight tomorrow for the good of the Earth. I’ll be takin’ on Drew Carrig, who dubs himself ‘Evil Incarnate’. Drew already knows how I feel about him, and I know how he feels about me. A line has been drawn in the sand, and now we stand on opposite sides, preparing for battle. For Drew, this match is about winnin’, and gaining more power in the sVo. However, that is where it ends for him. He doesn’t see the big picture… he doesn’t stray from his one-track mind. That will be his downfall. For you see, there is a lot more at stake here for myself… more than mere prizes and power. For me… the whole world is on the line, just like every other week. With each battle won, I bring the world more and more into the light… but with each battle lost, the darkness spreads that much more.” Once again, the bartender makes his way down the bar. He slows up as he nears Jacobs, but is relieved to find a more cooperative expression on Jacobs’ face. Bartender: “Lo que usted tiene?” Jacobs looks up at the bartender with a puzzled look on his face. However, Jacobs quickly regains his composure and answers. Billy Jacobs: “De agua estarán bien, gracias.” This time, it is the bartender that looks puzzled. Who knew that a Southern Preacher would be so fluent in Spanish. The bartender then turns around, still stunned by Jacobs’ verbal skills, and goes to fix him his drink. Billy Jacobs: “Six sides… six prizes… a sinner’s paradise. How it has come to this, I will never know… but what comes of this, the world shall soon find out. Drew Carrig, you have plans for that dice, just as I do. We both want to win this match, no doubt, but I NEED to win this match. You are only lookin’ at this as a get rich quick scheme. You want to gain as much power and swing as you can with minimal effort. I’m sorry Drew, but I can’t let that happen. I need to win this match for God. I need to win this match for every Christian man, woman, and child. I need to win this match for the good of the very world we live in. I need to win this match… for you, Drew. Because when all is said and done… when all the dust has cleared… I will have either saved you from a place you thought not possible… or I will have sent you to Hell, where you can enjoy your pain and misery for the rest of eternity.” The bartender finally arrives with Jacobs’ drink, which is nothing more than a small glass of water. Jacobs looks down at the glass of cloudy water. He stares down through the liquid as small movements within the bar send ripples across the waters surface. Billy Jacobs: “Tomorrow night will be the biggest night I’ve had in a long time. That ‘Roll the Dice’ match will have a significant bearin’ on the world as we know it. Good… evil… this is where the battle will truly take flight. All those up to now… they have been nothing. Now I, the ‘right hand of God’, must come face to face with a former guest of the Devil himself. Drew, may God have mercy on your retched soul.” Jacobs drops his head, and says a little prayer to himself. He then lifts his head quickly and shoots his water as if it were tequila. Some patrons near by give a little chuckle, but are put in their place as Jacobs walks over to them. They are sitting around a card table, enjoying a game of poker. Suddenly, Jacobs reaches down and grabs one of the mens’ arms. He then pulls an ace out of his sleeve and slaps it down on the table. Billy Jacobs: “Gamblin’ is a sin… but, then again… so is cheatin’!” With that, Jacobs makes his way to the door. All Hell is breaking loose behind him, as the other men begin to pound the cheater. As for Jacobs, he just shakes his head and smiles as he walks out the door. AMÉN |
