BlaZe
The Playmaker
[ * * * * * * ]
* The scene opens up in the Mayan Riviera at the ruins of Chichen-Itza. BlaZe’s familiar face returns to the screen for the first time in weeks, and he is seen on the phone, apparently leaving a voicemail. As he finishes up he looks up El Castillo, the Temple of Kulkulkan. BlaZe grabs hold of the security rope running down the centre of the step pyramid, and begins to climb, reaching the top, he walks through the central temple, to the other side where he stands alone. Aside from the cameraman. *

BlaZe: “Its been a few weeks, but I’m back. Any athlete has to make sure they can compete to the best of their abilities before trying to jump back into the game, or else their performance is nothing but a detriment to the team. Over the past few weeks I’ve been in and out of the game mindset. With my physical state not being at 100%, I wouldn’t have been able to compete to the best of my abilities. As of today, I’m not at 100%, but a hurt BlaZe is still a force to be reckoned with. It was the mental side of things that I wasn’t completely pumped up for. Coming back to Mexico lit the fire in me though and now I’m more ready than ever. Maybe it’s because we’re back on North American soil for the first time in weeks, maybe it’s cause I’m pumping up to defend my tag title at Countdown to Violence in my hometown, maybe it’s cause we’re in a wrestling mecca in Mexico, maybe I just miss the taste of victory. But I’m back, and the game is back on.”

* The scene follows BlaZe as he carefully makes his way back down the pyramid, and begins walking through the ruins. BlaZe stops at a smaller temple platform with hundreds of stone columns surrounding it. *

BlaZe: “The Temple of Warriors, built to honor the thousands of Mayan Warriors . Each pillar represents a warrior. The heart has to be unbreakable, the spirit has to be solid as a rock, a stone column is the perfect representative of a warrior. A stone column doesn’t break easily, it doesn’t give until it reaches its absolute breaking point, and even then it poses a challenge, just like a true warrior. “

* BlaZe stares out at the Temple of Warriors for a brief moment, before continuing and stopping in the center of a field surrounded by stone walls. He looks up at a ring protruding from one of the walls, and then to an altar at the head of the court, the stone stained with what appears to be blood. *

BlaZe: “This is the largest court of its kind. It was used in ancient times by the Mayans to play a sacred ball game. The rules were that the players had to keep the ball in the air and in play, by bumping it only with their hips. A variety of fouls could cost a team points, and in the end, the team able to bump the ball through a ring would be declared the victor. The losing-team’s captain would then be sacrificed.”

* BlaZe walks to the altar, standing directly in front of the blood stain.*

BlaZe: “The balls became rubber in the end. But where did they start? Sacrifice. The captain would be beheaded, and have his head wrapped up, to be used as a new ball. Only warriors played this game, fearless and honoured to be named a team captain. In life and in the sVo, only the warriors will survive, there’s no room for bitching and whining, its put up or shut up, kill or be killed, any other cliché you can think of. Just something to think about boys.”

* The scene fades out *

OOC: The place I used as the setting for this RP actually does exist, the Mayan Ruins at Chichen-Itza, about an hour from the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. I was there a few years ago and although the RP might not have been that great, the place in itself was truly amazing to see. If you ever get the chance to visit ruins of any kind, do it, it's a great way to get in touch with those who came long before us, and if you ever get the chance to visit the ruins at Chichen=Itza, do it, and be sure to climb "El Castillo", the view is amazing, evne though its a bit of a bitch to get down.
