Alex Ross
The Perfect 10
[ * * * * * ]
We all have our own ways of doing things in the world, getting certain tasks accomplished. Some people prefer to work in silence and other people work in noisy environments. Some people like to multi task, other people are better at working with one thing at a time. Alex Ross, he is a man who generally likes to do something himself. The idea of relying on someone else for victory isn't a comforting thing for him. He lacks the proper trust involved. With his old friend Talon making his debut last week in the sVo, the two have been booked in the main event versus the World Champion Psyko Stevo, who Alex Ross will be taking on at Countdown To Violence, and Joseph Equinox, the Hardcore Champion. How will Alex Ross handle dependence on his old teammate after having only fought for himself for so long?

The answer is simple.

He won't.

We'll explain as we open up to Alex Ross's dressing room door. Posted at the top of the door is the superstar's name over top a gold star. The heavy black door opens and the camera makes its way into the room. The door closes behind it and the camera rests in front of a black leather couch. In this still shot only the couch, a Countdown To Violence promotional poster against the plain white walls, and an end table are visible. From a distance a door closes and footsteps tap louder and louder. Finally, Alex Ross appears on screen-right. He takes slow, short strides over to the couch in his all-white three piece suit. He tosses himself down to the sofa and let's out a huge sigh. He scratches his head and looks over to the camera, a bit frustrated.

Ross: Talon... ... My old friend... Talon. I love the rumors about us, this shit that Travis Williams and Naughty Religion are spreading around about some sort of secret sex life between the two of us. It's amusing to see someone swing down to such a low level, where they have nothing on someone but to make school-yard cracks about homosexuality... Well, he can say whatever he wants, the match last week went to me... The number one contendership goes to me as well.

My relationship with Talon is an odd one, I guess you could say. The guy acts like a little boy following me around and yeah, it's endearing and whatever, but he's not really a friend anymore. We used to be pretty tight knit back in training and whatever, but now that I'm on top and all, he's basically worshiping me. It's almost sad. He, for some reason, can not see that I'm totally blowing him off. Because we go way back, I can't really just use him and let him loose in the wrestling world again, he's rusty... and for once I owe someone something that I feel like I have to pay back. He's jumping in to keep Joaquin and Clyde off my back, so that's life, I guess... You have to help to be helped, which is most unfortunate.

See, the thing is, Talon is still the same ambitious blue-chip up-and-comer that he was years ago. I've matured, I've been all over the world... Oh, and I'm rich and famous. That's three things about me that I now have over him, and I don't think he understands that. I'm not in this partnership to hang out and watch Tom and Jerry or stick firecrackers in mailboxes like some kid... He's standing outside my door asking if I can come out to play everyday when I am out winning matches and I couldn't care less about comradery. I want the win this week at Showdown, I don't need the bonding and reliving old times. The past sucked, I'm today and tomorrow, baby. I'm the future World Champion. Why should I care about how Psyko Stevo took on Mike Polowy for the title? Why do I need to watch that? I've taken on Stevo before and yeah, he's gotten the best of me before, but he will never live down my International Title match with him in January. The guy was undefeated, wham-bam-thank-you Stevo, I had the title and Psyko Stevo no longer had a claim to fame. He became just another guy on the roster fighting for his dream, the World Title. Well, Stevo, you've now had your run with the World Title, it's time to let someone else take the spotlight. I've taken so much from you already... You may as well just hand it over.

This match is going to be the key to my victory at Countdown to Violence. If Talon and I take this win, or WHEN I PERSONALLY take this win, I will have the power of choosing the stipulations for our title match. Do I put him through a cage match? Do we make it a ladder match? Do we make it falls count anywhere? The list is long as to what I can do with the rules. If I can secure this win, I'm set. That's why Talon better not mess it up for me. I mean, the guy has heart, but he knows nothing of the business. He's still in the glory days when it was about how many fans you could attract and how many t-shirts your face was printed on. The business has evolved and you have to go with the flow or you're in over your head. He doesn't have the attitude. He doesn't have the right way of carrying yourself around here... That's what I owe him, giving him that much that he can hold his own around here.

I'm just not a team player, you can't be. I take my own victories. I take my own losses. I don't like to depend on others, they usually let you down, and in the end... Could you say that you won, IF you won? No, it was a team effort and fuck it, I just can't be bothered with it.

As far as this week's match goes... I am focused on Stevo. Talon can have Equinox, maybe he'll get into the hardcore division and start there, but this match is about my position in the main event for the Pay-Per-View, Talon is just in the match for the experience. What better an experience then watching and learning from the very best, 'The Perfect Ten', Alex Ross? Who better a trainer, a person to have in the ring with you for your first recorded victory? No one, that's who.

Psyko Stevo? Are you ready for the next wave of Alex Ross? Are you prepared to have me come into the ring with you again and take the leather and gold from you? Of course you aren't. You're probably lost in your little world, building a ferris wheel in your backyard for Jerome or Jamal or whatever... so that the other kids on the block will want to play with him. I mean, how do you get pumped for matches like this? Do you talk about your opponents at the breakfast table? Does your bowl of Special K really get you going for a fight? You don't have the life for a wrestler... You don't have the attitude for a wrestler... And you don't have the talent, my friend. You've somehow managed to piggyback your way to the top of this federation and I swear that I am the only one who sees it. See, when most people lose a title, they get one rematch, Stevo. You fucked up once and now how many World Title reigns are you on? Aren't you supposed to start off back at the bottom like everyone else? Who are you fucking backstage? Is it Paige, Stevo? Is it? Seriously? Your child, Stevo... I can't ever remember his name, it's an Afro-name, that's all I remember... Does he call her Aunt Paige and not know why? I want to know your secret man.

I don't really know what to expect in this match... I haven't fought alongside Talon in ages... I've been rusty with Stevo lately... And Equinox, well he's the hardcore champion, I guess there's not much to worry about there, now is there? Hah. The way I see it, this match is either going to be quick and simple... Or long and painful for Stevo and Equinox. Which way it goes? That's up to them, if they'll put up the proper fight or just make it easier on themselves.

Alex Ross smirks and shrugs with the shoulders of his suit-coat wrinkling. He stands up and walks out of camera sight and the screen goes black.
