Immediately following sVo’s pay-per-view Retribution and the Organised Chaos match, “Hollywood” Howie Banks was rushed to the nearest hospital in London, England. The name of the hospital where Howie would be treated was called the Royal Free hospital in Hampstead. ------- A brief history of the Royal Free hospital is listed below… The hospital was founded in Gray's Inn Road, Holborn by the surgeon William Marsden (1796-1867) in 1828 to provide - as the name indicates - free care to those of little means. The royal charter was granted by Queen Victoria in 1837 after a cholera epidemic in which the hospital had extended care to many victims. The London School of Medicine for Women, since August 1998 a part of the Royal Free & University College Medical School, was the first to train female doctors in the UK. The hospital is located on Pond Street, Hampstead, where it moved in the 1970s. It also houses part of the medical school and its associated research facilities. Significant advances in the fields of liver medicine (hepatology) and transplantation; renal disease and dialysis; haematology and haemophilia have been made at the Royal Free. The Professorial department of liver medicine is recognized as one of the leading research units of its type in the world. It was founded by the late Prof. Dame Sheila Sherlock, DBE. The Royal Free Hospital was the first in the UK to appoint a consultant in HIV medicine back in 1989. Dr Margaret Johnson a specialist in thoracic medicine, has built The Royal Free Centre for HIV Medicine, which is at the forefront of treatment of HIV and AIDS. It includes in-patient care on the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson ward, a research team headed by Dr Mike Youle, virology laboratories headed by Prof Clive Loveday, who developed the first viral load tests long before they became part of routine HIV management. The out-patients' centre was opened in 1992 by Sir Ian McKellen and is named after actor Ian Charleson. Its garden, where patients can relax, was opened by Sir Elton John. In 1998, the hospital and its medical school became embroiled in scandal when they provided a platform for Andrew Wakefield and his campaign against the MMR vaccine. The hospital itself also offers teaching and placement to nursing students from Middlesex University. The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, located in King's Cross, London, is also part of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS trust. It houses three inpatient wards (including a paediatric ward), outpatient clinics, operating theatres, a day surgery unit, and a pharmacy. The UK facial transplantation team, under Peter Butler, are based at the RFH and have recently been granted ethical approval to begin screening patients. ------- Following the information of the Royal Free hospital, the scene opens up in the patience room known as professional wrestler, “Hollywood” Howie Banks. After enduring a major Organised Chaos match a few days ago in London, England at the O2 arena, it seems Howie needed to take a visit to the hospital once again. He hasn’t been there since a few years ago when he cracked some ribs in a Singapore cane match in his old wrestling promotion, Headstrong Wrestling. The room was cold and so was I. trying to manage any warmth I could I grabbed a hold of the blankets with my legs and proceeded to slide them upwards across my body. Finally I was warm. The room seemed so small and it felt like it was caving in on me, I was dreaming. Or was I? I couldn’t be, I was wrapped in this bed with blankets on top and I was full of nothing but pain from the events just days ago. But what was it that kept me going strong? What was it that kept me breathing? The system I was hooked up too or just the will to survive? Organised Chaos was brutal and I was in no shape to go anywhere. But I couldn’t stay there for long, I had a match coming up in Glasgow, Scotland. I couldn’t handle no showing my partner and losing the titles for us. Speaking of my partner, I wonder where Gunner Lang was at this very moment. Who knows, he could even be in the same bed next to me. I looked over, just to check. But no, nothing, nobody was there. The bed was … empty. My only hope would be to get cleared out of here in the next couple of days, but was it possible? Nurse: “You should probably rest for the next couple of days and then we’ll see how your progressing and we’ll go from there.” I was thrilled she had said that. I needed to heal up fast, I had to be in Scotland for Showdown. Banks: “Do you think it’d be too much to ask to be out of here by tomorrow?” The nurse looked worried. Banks: “I know what your thinking and trust me, I’m okay.” Howie tried to sit up, but it was impossible. The nurse put him down across the bed. Nurse: “You need to rest, sir.” I felt helpless inside, it was awhile since I had to lay in bed all the time. It was almost to the point where I wanted to just break out and cry. Never in my career had I been this badly beaten up. Not even by Stuvix Helens who put me in the hospital at one time or another back in the day. But I better stop or I’ll get bashed for sounding like Peter Gilmour. A man who talks too much about the past when none of it really matters. All I know is that I couldn't stand to be here another day, knowing my partner was probably waiting for me to show up and be there for him. Not only that, but I must get back at Bad Religion. ------- It wasn't long until I had fallen asleep the other night and was dreaming of the horrible things that happened at Organised Chaos. Bad Religion did a beat down on me and not one I was use too, either. It was time to get out and get back in the ring, so I decided the only way, was to escape myself. Nurse: "Mayday, mayday!" The nurse exclaimed. Nurse: "We have a missing patient!" She got off the pa system after announcing that as many nurses and doctors were seen in the hallways scurrying around as fast as they could, looking for this disappearing act. Out front of the hospital was "Hollywood" Howie Banks. He had escaped like he had planned. Banks: "Ah, thanks for coming man." Howie nodded to Jeeves who had come to pick him up. Jeeves: "Yeah, no sweat, now get the hell in." Howie gets inside the car, barely being able to as he still feels the affects of Organised Chaos. Jeeves just spins the back tires and drives out of there. As they drive down the road, the conversation quickly picks up. Banks: "How are you doing, Jeeves?" Jeeves continues on driving like a mad man down the street. Jeeves: "Better than you." He smirks. Jeeves: "You look like crap." Howie laughs. Banks: "Ow!" His sides hurt from laughing, as Jeeves laughs for him. Jeeves: "Are you sure it was a good idea to pick you up?" Howie looks at Jeeves like he is stupid, he then looks to the road and points at it. Banks: "Just drive!" So that's exactly what Jeeves did. He drove. All the way to Glasgow, Scotland in fact, right to another hospital. Banks: "Where are you going? Showdown's that way." Howie points right as Jeeves turns left. Jeeves: "Somewhere you just came from." Howie notices a big 'H' sign as that means the hospital. He quickly tries to get out of the car as he grabs the handle and opens it up. He even goes as far as jumping out and tuck and rolling! Bam Boom Crack Ouch Smack! Howie hit's his forehead off of a curb, Jeeves suddenly stops, parks the vehicle and rushes out! Banks: "Your not taking me to a hospital." Those were the final words from "Hollywood" Howie Banks until he passed out. ------- Howie would wake up once again, this time inside a hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. Banks: "What the hell am I doing here?" He pauses. Banks: "I really AM dreaming!" He begins to rustle his way around a bit but quickly is back in pain. Banks: "Owwww!" Jeeves is sitting beside him in a chair, Howie glances over and takes notice of him sleeping. Banks: "Jeeves?" He nudges him as Jeeves finally wakes up. Jeeves: "What now, Banks?" Howie looks around, all confused. Banks: "What happened?" Jeeves eyes open wide as he is uncertain to tell him or not. Jeeves: "Well..." ------- He explained it all, Banks was so close to making it to Showdown. Banks: "And that's it?" Jeeves nods. Jeeves: "Yup, pretty much." Howie ponders, wondering how he is going to get to Showdown now. Jeeves: "I know that look." Banks: "What do you mean?" Jeeves: "Your plotting to get out of here, aren't you? Well forget it! I am staying here until Sunday so that you can get rested up for your big title defense!" It hit Howie like a ton of bricks, the tag match was Sunday. Banks: "Oh, shit!" Jeeves: "What?" Banks: "I forgot and now Gunner is gonna - " Before he could go any further, Jeeves handed him a big sheet of paper. Banks: "Uhh..." He flips through it quickly. Banks: "What's this?" Jeeves opens it up for him. Jeeves: "A scouting report on all your opponents, not that you'll need it." Howie looks to Jeeves. He tells him to come over and then smacks him in the head with it. Banks: "Of course I don't need it!" Jeeves takes a step back and sits back down in his seat as Howie shakes his head while Jeeves rubs the top of his head. Banks: "I already know everything about these guys. Blaze and Sensei Shredder are the fed jobbers, Rodimus and Freedom Fighter are killers and Hooligan and Brock are ... well ... there ... Hooligan and Brock." Howie shrugged his shoulders, not even looking worried. Banks: "Just chill out, Jeeves, I got this one. Once I am out of this bed in a couple of days and I get a work out in the gym and talk to my partner, things will be good. I'm not underestimating my opponents, but there not really my number one priority right now. The men who put me where I lie today are, and that's Bad Religion. But as far as the tag team match goes, it's going to be a good one. There's four teams, two men on each, only one winner. I just hope Gunner is as ready as I'll be or we may just be saying goodbye to our tag gold." Howie stared at the wall for a good couple of seconds, thinking of the last things that came out of his mind. He then turns his head to Jeeves. Banks: "Well, talk to you later." Jeeves looks rather confused. Jeeves: "Huh?" Banks: "I need to rest, so it's bed time." Jeeves: "Oh .." Howie laid his head on the pillow, pulling the blankets across his body. He then lifted his head up, looked at Jeeves and had one last remark. Banks: "If you try anything funny while I'm sleeping, I'll seriously hurt you, Jeeves." Jeeves was already sleeping, snore ... snore ... snore ... snore. Banks: "Nighty night." Back to the pillow he went. Out like a light. Sweet dreams. Edited by Howard Thompson, May 31 2008, 06:06 AM.
