There was only five more days. That’s how many more days Hooligan had to train for the next match. He had to take Monday off for recovery from the Organized Chaos match up. He wasn’t mad that he lost. The unbridled beast of the entire fight was enough to wear down the worst of any of the fighters in the federation. All you had to do was get the numbers to fall against you and it was too difficult to catch yourself up. Instead, he found the whole experience an honor just be a part of the whole mess. It was an all out two-team war in the ring, and he stood up along the best in the federation. He was there to see Howie Banks and his own tag partner Brock both get eliminated, even Cody Williams, the mystery man. It was just between him and Gunner Lang in the end. That’s what it came down to. Hooligan pushed forward with everything he had, he wouldn’t let anything stop him. Through the entire match, he took heavy beatings left and right and was returning the favors without mercy. He kept it up until a heavy blow KO’d him in the end. Even the mystery man, Cody Williams who was supposed to be the secret weapon didn’t last as long as him and Lang. But he did help even up the score for a small time by quickly eliminating two men very quickly. Brock was at least a good help in putting a hurting on half the guys in the ring. Hooligan was almost boasted with confidence to see his own tag partner join his side in the chaos. There were two tag teams within the ring and it definitely showed that night. Even Lang and Howie had their fair share of tag team action. Hooligan sat in his bed, mostly plotting and planning for what to do over the next week. Half of his opponents for the next match were living under his very roof. If he trained with them, it would give them the edge to know how to handle him first hand, but he would know how to handle them better as well. Rodimus and Freedom Fighter both pulled off their matches with skill while both him and Brock watched from one of the private boxes tucked off inside the lower stands. Brock was actually impressed to see them both starting to pick up now. Hooligan always had the eye for talent and had these two picked out ever since the end of P:V and the start of GLCW. Long ago, he had even invited them both at one time or another to train at the gym once before. Ironically, the two teamed up together and became a force of their own. Now, history repeats itself and here they are, the Goondock Saints reunited under the roof of the HoV gym with the help of Hooligan’s invitation. But it did not matter what these guys once were, it did not matter how he found them or what potential they held. If they were to be part of the HoV, they had to learn to stand up against the best of them and contribute to the group and not just ride on it’s coat tails. This was the Goondock Saint’s chance. This was their final test. If they can impress Brock in the ring against himself, then they just may earn their chance to take on the name. Cara came in wearing a pink bride’s maid’s gown and carrying a suit back by its hanger. She then tossed it on the bed. “You got your best man speech printed off hun?” Hooligan looked up, “Yeah, it’s all printed off and stapled together.” Cara then smiled and went to the mirror, ”Good, do me a favor and get dressed then, we have to leave in fifteen minutes.” Hooligan got up out of bed and peeled off his shirt and tossed it off in the hamper over in the corner. He then pulled the tux out of the plastic bag and hung it up on the hook on the back of the door. He then took the shirt off and put it on, followed by the pants. He then put on the red vest and tie and then the black socks followed by the black jacket. His hair color and the suit just ironically matched with his black hair and red streaks. When he was asked to be the best friend, his friend had told him, the best man was chosen as being the best swordsman in the village. His duty was to stand by the side of the bride and protect her at all cost. Hooligan was no swordsman, but he was definitely a guy you did not want to cross. If he had to, he would even act as the bouncer for at the reception. Hooligan stood in the mirror as he tucked the best man speech in his front pocket. Cara then came up behind him and reached around to adjust his tie for him. ”You look absolutely stunning…” Hooligan looked in the mirror at Cara with her head lying along the side of his shoulder. Her face was glowing like no other, and she looked like an angel. One of these days, they were going to be the ones in the frantic mess of nerves, as they got ready to step up to the altar. Finally not become just a couple, but a man and woman who both work together, and think together. This did not go for just marriages, but any partnership that is to excel at what they do must have that close bond. This is how him and Brock took the GLCW tag title. This is how they were going to shine in this match. Brock knows Hooligan like the back of his hand and knows what he can do and when he would pull something off before he sets up for it. Hooligan even knows Brock just as well. The two of them trained together so much over the past couple years that there was nothing they could do to surprise each other. If they ever had to face each other in the ring, it would be one of the closest matches ever with a high rate of counter after counter after counter. Cara and Hooligan then made their way down stairs as Rodimus and Freedom Fighter were busy sparring in the ring. Just before going out the door, Hooligan turned to watch for a moment as the two went back and forth trading blow for blow on each other. He then turned around and made his way outside where a limo was waiting to pick them up. Inside the limo was the groom as well as Brock and Laney wearing the same formal wears as him and Cara. The groom was an old friend of Brock & Hooligan’s that they knew from awhile back outside of their wrestling careers. Brock was fidgeting with his tie, “Man, Hooligan, what took you so long? We got a wedding to get out of the way here. Lets get this over with, this tie is putting a strangle hold on me.” “Sorry, I slept in, Cara didn’t wake me up in time.” “Well, get yourself an alarm clock or something.” Cara crawled in and took a seat over by Laney. The two had become friends since GLCW and Cara had stayed by her side while recovering her memory loss. Both her and Hooligan were at least glad to hear she accepted her relationship with Brock without any trouble. It would have been a mess if she had left him until she recovered. Hooligan even knew that Brock would have suffered if she had gone to that extent. No matter how close he and Brock were, Laney was still the one thing that mattered the most to him. As the girls began to catch up with each other over the last week, Brock and Hooligan decided to take advantage of the moment and discuss the next show. “So, they have us in a four tag team showdown? Should be a breather after last week.” “Yeah, but 3/4th’s of us are actually all from that huge mess. Rodimus and Freedom Fighter even have themselves in on this one.” “I see that, they couldn’t of stepped in the ring with us at a better time. They both pulled their first win, and now we get to see how they fair up against 6 of some of the best fighters in the federation. I suppose if they can hold their own against us, then we could award them with being part of the Heroes of Violence.” ”So did you get a chance to tell Freedom Fighter that we were considering him as well?” Brock shook his head, “No, I couldn’t find him before the opening match. But we can let him know sometime this week so he knows what he has a chance to be fighting for.” The limo finally made it’s way to the church. Everyone piled out of the limo as some tabloid and magazine photographers tried to get their shots in of the two wrestling grooms men. Brock and Hooligan walked along on each side of everyone to make sure they did not give anyone else from the limo a hard time. The girls headed off to join the Bride in her changing room, while the guys went off to do their own thing with photo sessions and finishing some preparations. The ceremony finally went on after everyone got seated. All went well when it was time for Hooligan to give the groom the ring for the bride. Hooligan padded around on his pockets and reach in and pulled out some lifesavers and handed the groom one. The groom took it and attempted to fit it on the bride’s finger jokingly and then popped it in his mouth instead. Everyone laughed when they realized what he had wasn’t the ring and then quieted down quickly. The groom then turned back around as Hooligan handed him the ring. The ceremony then continued without any other complications. The bride and groom then kissed and were pronounced husband and wife. The two then walked down the isle, followed by Hooligan and Cara, then followed by Brock and Laney, and then the ring bear and flower girl. After the ceremony, everyone continued out the door and congratulated the couple on their way out. Then after the greeting, they began to do the post wedding pictures with the bride, groom, wedding party, and families. Several others were taking pictures of their own as well, not just of the newly weds, but because of their two celebrity groomsmen in the wedding party. Besides, it’s not every day that one of your family members gets married and has a professional wrestler in their wedding party. The day had progressed on as everyone then left into the limo together. They were all greeted as the wedding party came in one couple at a time starting with the ring bear and the flower girl. Next, the lights then dimmed down as the DJ lights shined in on the doorway. Dive by Disciple begins to play as the announcer cuts into a wrestling announcer voice. “From Jamestown, NY, weighing in at 223lb., and standing at 6’2”….Brooooooock and the Bride’s Maid Laney.” Everyone began to cheer and laugh at the same time as Brock made his way in grinning at the surprise entrance announcement. The lights stayed dim as the spotlights still on the door. Buck Dich by Rammstein began to play as the announcer stepped in again, “From Detroit, MI, weighing in at 235lbs., and standing at 6’0”….Hooooooooolllliiiiigaaaaaannn and the Maid of Honor Cara.” The crowd once more began to cheer and laugh once more for the fun of it as Hooligan came in grinning and surprised at the entrance. The whole entrance idea was the groom’s as a practical joke. Long ago, he had joked with Brock and Hooligan that wherever they go, before they make their way into a building, they should always play their theme music just before they enter. The lights stayed dim as the disco ball began to light up. ”Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Mr. & Mrs. Roberts.” Just then, the Bride and Groom made their way inside the room. Dinner started just as everyone got settled down. Then just near the end of dinner, they began to pour the wine for everyone. Just as they finished, Hooligan then stood up and made his way up to the stage. “I would like to make a little speech if you would. No, this is not about me and Brock’s big match we have this weekend in Scotland. This is just a small toast for the groom. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m one of Ken’s closest friends Hooligan. I think the reason I’m the best man up here tonight, is not because I’m famous, but because I’ve always been a good friend to him. I’ve stuck by his side through all his worst times and I’ve never left his side. And so today, I stood by his side on his final moments of being single. I knew Ken for a few years now. We first met at a Brock’s house where we use to hang out. My first reaction of the guy was, “Why is this guys jumping up onto my back hopping around? Is he actually trying to impress me by showing me that he knows how to wrestle too?” We continued to hang out together over the past year. We went to the movies, grabbed snacks from the corner store, and even played video games at Brock’s place. We even shared a few moments together as we got drunk one new years eve at another friend’s apartment. That new years eve, we even shared private stories with each other that we normally would never share with anyone else. Of course, that could have been the booze. Just like how earlier that night he was making phone calls to his family to tell them all how he loved them all very very very very much. Possibly even a guy he dialed a wrong number to…in Japan. A few months ago, in the mental institution, I received a phone call from Ken. He said he had to ask me something very important. From the sounds of it, he was very nervous. He said it was so important that he had to ask me something in person. I began to think back over the years that we’ve been friends. I then began to wonder what could be so important. I knew Ken had been happily engaged for a little while now thanks to Cara who kept me up on the news, so the only thing that could naturally come next was the important question to one of his many guy friends. We met up at Cara’s house later after I was released from the institution. Ken was still nervous as all get out. Hopefully not because I snapped on a guy at the end of my career in GLCW. We went to the basement so he could do this with some privacy, and just as I thought, he asked me to be his best man. I was honored to stand by his side today on this special occasion. As sad is it is to say, I cannot accept the title of Best Man today, or so not completely. If I were the Best Man, Nicole would have married me today instead. Today, I am proud to say, the true Best Man is one of my closest friends, Ken Roberts. He is a man I admire very much for all that he has accomplished in life up to now. He has made it through scouts to the highest rank of Eagle Scout, he has even served his country in its time of need, and he has graduated college with multiple degrees. Of course the degrees are from a community college, so if you put his degrees together, they would be equal to something you would get from a university. But most of all, and most importantly, he has found a very special woman to spend the rest of his life with. Ken, since this is just your first day of marriage, you have yet to hit any of the rough spots I’m afraid. So let me give you some marriage advice. I know what you’re thinking, Chad, you never been married let alone got engaged. That doesn’t mean I’m not credible for marriage advice that I’ve heard being passed onto previous grooms. First off, never let her go to bed angry – you’re defenseless when you sleep. Don’t let her know that you think the couch is comfortable – or you’ll be sleeping on the patio. If she says, “Do whatever you want” – You’d better figure out what it is she wants you to do. Also, “Do it when you get a minute” means “It should have been done already, and without me telling you.” Any meal you don’t have to cook is a good one. If you don’t’ have to cleanup – it’s a great one. Don’t expect a night out with the guys – unless you’re willing to let her have a night out with them also. When you say, “I do” she owns you from the nose down. What you think, and look at, is your own business. However, what you think, and look at, can still get you in trouble – if she catches you thinking it, or looking at it. Eventually, you may have kids, so be prepared, and learn to change diapers, and feed babies. The best gift a man can give his children – is to show them how much he loves their mother. The second best gift he can give them is his time. Once she has children, it is possible she may lose her figure, and so it is critical that you remember that there is no right answer to: “Does this make me look fat?” If she thought it looked okay, she wouldn’t be asking you. If you go shopping with her, she will always leave you alone in the bra and panty section – Don’t Browse. Don’t ever criticize your wife in public – the world should know that you believe she is perfect. Finally, don’t fight or argue over the little stuff. It is never worth the effort. Tell her you love her, buy her jewelry, and rub her feet. Everything else is little stuff. Now, to bring things to a more serious note, I would like to give the bride and groom some real advice. Something I feel that may help them through a long and happy life together. Something that may help them realize the true nature of marriage. But first, to explain what I mean, I wish to share a short poem. This is something I, or I should say Red Wing, wrote some years ago, after dwelling on the thoughts of love. For Love or For Lust Lust dies when beauty fades. Love dies when hearts are broken. Thus so, time kills lust, And so, we kill love. Since time tarnishes beauty, And we break each other's hearts. And so the age-old question is, Which lasts longer, lust or love? When the question should be, Can we go without breaking each other’s hearts, After time has aged us to our golden hour? The message I wish to leave with you two, is when you grow old together, lust and beauty may never last forever, so let your marriage revolved around love. Learn to be there for each other, learn to care for each other, learn to help each other through any hard times, and learn to share all the good times. Learn to solve any problems that come between you, and learn forgive each other for the other’s mistakes. For if you love is pure and true, it will last forever if you let it. So listen to each other, communicate to each other, and care for each other. So I wish to propose a toast to the bride and groom. To Nicole and Ken Roberts, I wish you a happy and blissful marriage for many years to come, and may the love you share for each other live on forever into your golden years of life.” Everyone then raised their glass and the sound of glasses began to charm all around the hall. The groom was practically in tears and gave Hooligan a big hug once he made his way back down. Hooligan then folded up his speech and gave it to the groom to keep. The rest of the ceremonies went on as they cut the cake. Then they cleared the dance floor and began to do the wedding party dance as they had the bride and groom dance, then Hooligan and Cara, the Brock and Laney, then the ring bear and flower girl, and then the parents of the bride & groom. Next, they then tossed the bouquet. It came down as both Laney and Cara both caught it at the same time. But then Laney came up with it in the end. Next, the garter ceremony began to proceed. Ken, the groom then tossed it as it came down, both Brock and Hooligan got their hands on it. Suddenly the two wound up in a special wrestling match with the stipulation of the first one to let go looses. Luckily, they were on the open dance floor so that nobody got hurt. But they never got too serious since this was just a friendly event. In the end, Brock finally got Hooligan to let go. To follow tradition, Laney was made to sit in a chair in the center of the dance floor and had to let Brock put the garter on her. Laney blushed and Brock began to put it on her. Everyone commented on how funny it was that they were both actually engaged to each other already. The rest of the night was spent dancing and drinking and enjoying the night. Hooligan then began to recall back to memory his memories for earlier. Just like a married couple, we need to try our best to think and act as one. If we don’t work together, then we might as well be considered amateurs. |
