Psyko Stevo
The Best Around
[ * * * * * * ]
RING RING RING!

*As the cameras come into focus we see Psyko Stevo lying in a gigantic bed. There is a telephone on the nightstand which is ringing a generic tone. The ringing stops and Stevo shakes his head, trying to figure out what is going on. He quickly springs forward and looks around the room and takes a deep breath when he realizes the location to be unfamiliar.*

Female Voice: Hello?

*Stevo turns to his right and we see Cindy lying in bed next to him. She has a weary look on her face as she speaks into the reciever.*

Cindy: No... no I don't want to switch to Comcast. What? Yea, I'm sure... it's 8 AM, please, don't call back. Bye.

*Cindy slowly hangs up the phone and after doing so she looks over at Stevo who is by this point, sitting on the edge of the bed.*

Cindy: Stupid telemarketers... *to Stevo*. Hey. Pretty wild night last night, huh?

*Stevo remains silent as he looks towards the door of the bedroom, which is firmly shut.*

Cindy: Stevo?

*Stevo rises to his feet and looks around the room. It's a nice room, large bed, a nightstand on each side, bathroom off to the right, huge walk in closet off to the left. There is a television which is currently turned off which rests on a credenza across from the bed. It's not spacious, but it's nowhere near shabby either. Stevo clears his throat before speaking.*

Stevo: Ahem... Nice place you have here.

Cindy: Thanks!

*Stevo pauses, his focus once again on the door leading outside of the room.*

Cindy: Everything okay?

Stevo: Huh? Yea, everything is fine. Why wouldn't everything be fine?

Cindy: Well, you're not looking at me.

*Stevo spins around and looks at Cindy, faking a smile.*

Stevo: There we go, everythings good now, right?

Cindy: Right...

*Cindy rises from bed and we notice that she is still wearing the same outfit that she had worn the night before when her and the Psyko One attempted to dine at a nice Mexican restaurant. Stevo notcies that Cindy is fully dressed and he starts to think.*

Stevo: Hmmm...

Cindy: What's wrong?

*Stevo realizes he is in a bind here. He thinks about opening up, then thinks against it, but finally realizes that's probably the way to go.*

Stevo: Well, I just... I gotta be honest with you Cindy, I don't quite remember everything that happened last night.

Cindy: What do you mean?

Stevo: It's just jet lag I guess, I've been going back and forth from contenient to contenient, putting my body on the line week in and week out. When I'm not doing that I'm with Jamal, or going out to dinner with you, or I'm giving interviews or signing autographs. I guess it's just all taken it's toll...

*Stevo takes a seat on the edge of the bed and looks forward at the blank television as Cindy tries to think behind him.*

Cindy: I still don't think I follow. What do you not remember?

Stevo: I mean I remember dinner, and I remember the way we left of course... but nothing else and...

Cindy: Well, what else was there to remember?

Stevo: I... I don't know, you tell me.

*Cindy is still perplexed as Stevo finally turns around to face her.*

Cindy: Well, we came back here, your driver got a call from his family saying his son was sick. You told him to take the rest of the night off, then you were going to call Jeeves to bring your car but I said it was too late for that and we might as well just get some sleep.

Stevo: And then?

Cindy: And then... we went to bed.

Stevo: That's... it?

Cindy: That's it.

*A rush of relief spreads across the face of the former sVo champion and a smile suddenly appears.*

Stevo: Oh, I'm so relieved.

*Cindy quickly stands up and puts her hands on her hips.*

Cindy: What is that supposed to mean? You're relieved for what?

Stevo: I just... I thought maybe we did something dumb.

Cindy: Dumb? What would be dumb?

Stevo: I-I don't know, I thought maybe I had something to drink?

Cindy: I think you would have remembered that.

*There is a ton of tension in the air as "Remember" by Disturbed can be heard throughout the room. Stevo quickly digs into the pocket of his pants and removes his cell phone, which he flips open and starts talking into.*

Stevo: McPhearson... not a good time, call back later.

*Stevo is about to hit the END button, but we hear Chazz's voice rise on the other end of the line.*

Chazz: Stevo... baby! Huge news out of the Howie Banks camp, HUGE!

*Stevo puts the phone back to his ear, listening intently as Cindy rises to her feet and starts to leave the room.*

Stevo: Banks? Did you say Banks? What's going on with Howie?

Chazz: Banks, he's... he's...

Stevo: Chazz, hold on man, hold on a second here.

Chazz: Big news, big news!

Stevo: Cindy, hold up, wait.

*Cindy continues to leave the room and Stevo looks at the phone, then her, then the phone and finally sets the phone down, sprints across the room and cuts Cindy off before she can reach the door.*

Stevo: What is going on?

Cindy: Why don't you tell me? I thought we had a great night, but then all of a sudden you wake up and turn into this totally different person...

Stevo: I'm just glad that nothing... physical, happened between us.

Cindy: Why!? Would it really be so bad if something had happened?

Stevo: Well no, it's just... no, I'm not saying that, it's just...

Cindy: It's just what?

Stevo: I- don't know...

*Cindy throws her hands in the air, trying to figure out what is going on. Coming to no conclusions, she pushes Stevo out of the way and takes a step into the hallway which connects with her living room.*

Stevo: Okay, stop... wait... I'll explain.

*Cindy turns around and places her hands on her hips.*

Cindy: This better be good, and you better tell me the truth. If it's because you think I'm ugly, fine whatever, if it's because you're confused, fine... just tell me the truth.

Stevo: No, I don't think you're ugly and I'm not confused. I really enjoy the time we spend together.

Cindy: Then what? Are you gay or something?

Stevo: No, I'm not gay.

Cindy: Most guys are trying to get their hands down my pants within ten seconds of meeting me. I've practially been throwing myself at you for weeks now and you've barely laid a hand on me.

Stevo: I know, it's just... it's complicated.

Cindy: Well explain now, or get out of here.

Stevo: Fine, I just haven't been with a women since my ex died.

Cindy: Well what does she have to do with me? Or with us!

Stevo: Nothing at all. I'm sorry, it's just that this relationship couldn't have come at a worse time. I've traveling around the world, I have Jamal, I have the World Title to obtain... every outside force is just saying not to do this, it's like they're screaming at me not to do this.

Cindy: Well when would be a better time?

Stevo: I don't know.

Cindy: In a week? In a month? In a year? After you retire? After Jamal graduates from high school? From college?

*Awkward silence*

Cindy: So, that's it then?

Stevo: No... that's not what I mean. Cindy, I want to try to make this work, but I just... I just...

*We hear McPhearson screaming from the other room into the cell phone.*

Stevo: Hold on...

*Stevo walks over to the cell phone and picks it up. Cindy turns her back on Stevo, but then spins around as Stevo does the unthinkable, he hits the END button, closes the phone and sets it down.*

Stevo: All right, what's the deal with Banks?

Cindy: STEVO!

Stevo: One more second, I promise, just a second.

*Stevo tosses the phone down and looks at Cindy with rage in his eyes.*

Stevo: What!?

Cindy: We were having a conversation.

*Stevo continues to stare Cindy down, but she doesn't budge and only stares back.*

Stevo: Well, we can have this conversation at another time. I have work issues that I need to attend to... it's my job, it's important.

Cindy: Oh, and we're not?

*Stevo tosses his hands in the air, realizing that there is just no way he can win this arguement. He grabs his shirt which is on the floor next to the bed, puts it on and picks up the cell phone.*

Stevo: I'm sorry Cindy, I'll talk to you later.

*Stevo tries to place a hand on Cindy's shoulder, but she backs away. Stevo then shrugs his shoulders and leaves the room as the cameras fade to black.*
