The Best Around
[ * * * * * * ]
*As the cameras come into focus we see an overhead view of a large park. There is playground equipment in the middle, parking space to the south, to the north there are basketball and tennis courts, to the east there are two baseball diamonds and to the west we see two soccer fields. As the people walk around the park, the cameras zoom in on the soccer fields, as they get closer and closer we see that one of the fields has been set up with a very abundant amount of orange cones. The cameras zoom off to the sidelines of the field and we see a large group of children and parents, the cameras make their way through the group and at the center of the confusion we see the sVo World Champion, Psyko Stevo.*

Stevo: Right then, that about wraps it up. Then let's just remember to have a lot of fun, and try to win a couple games in the process.

*Some of the parents raise their eyebrow at this last sentence.*

Stevo: But most importantly, let's have a lot of fun.

*The parents and kids all start to clap and Stevo raises his hand.*

Stevo: All right kids, why don't you all take a lap and then form a circle for stretching exercises while I answer any questions your parents might have.

*The kids all run off at the same time, some running faster then others and some parents leave, while others start to speak to each other. One parent though, a man in his mid forties with a smile on his face, walks up to Stevo. He smells like cough drops and has a very weird aura about him. He is wearing a blue sweatsuit and has a whistle around his neck and a pair of dorky glasses on his face.*

Man: Hi there.

Stevo: Um, hello?

*The man extends his hand and Stevo reluctantly shakes it.*

Man: Names Wayne... my kid is Billy, you drove him to practice today.

Stevo: Oh right, Billy...

Wayne: Yea, it's been kinda tough on Billy since Nancy, my ex-wife, took off and left.

Stevo: Yes, Billy did mention something about that, seems like a good kid though.

Wayne: Oh he is, he's a really good athlete too.

*Stevo rolls his eyes a bit after hearing this.*

Wayne: Reminds me of myself back when I was in pee wee soccer.

Stevo: You were an athlete?

Wayne: I sure was, led my team in goals and everything.

Stevo: Hmm, and how many goals did you score?

Wayne: Well... one.

Stevo: One goal?

Wayne: We didn't win a lot of games, but we had fun!

Stevo: That's great...

*Stevo starts to walk away but Wayne follows him.*

Stevo: Wayne, you seem like a great guy, but if you'll excuse me I need to coach these kids, they obviously aren't going to coach themself.

Wayne: Oh, I wanted to ask you...

*Stevo stops and looks Wayne in the eye.*

Wayne: Can I be your assistant coach?

Stevo: No.

*Wayne stops and looks completely hurt.*

Wayne: You didn't even let me finish.

Stevo: Wayne, like I said, you seem like a real nice guy. However, I'm not really in the market for an assistant coach. I have worlds of information to impart upon these kids and an assistant coach will just confuse them.

*Stevo once again starts to walk away but Wayne jumps in front of him, lowering his voice.*

Wayne: Come on, I'll level with ya... I'm just in this for the soccer moms.

Stevo: The soccer moms?

Wayne: Yea... single guy like me, there's bound to be some soccer moms in the stands during some fo the away games. So what do you say? Come on, please?

Stevo: Look Wayne, I dont know...

Wayne: Just give me a whistle, I promise that I'll stay out of your way. I'll pick up cones, I'll buy the kids some pizza after games every once in awhile, come on! I'm begging you!

*Wayne drops down on his knees and some of the other parents who were conversing with each other look towards Stevo with weird glances. Stevo quickly realizes what is going on and grabs Wayne by his shirt collar, pulling him to his feet.*

Stevo: Get back up, you're creeping the other parents out!

Wayne: I'm sorry...

*Stevo looks off in the distance.*

Stevo: I still don't think so Wayne.

Wayne: What about weekend games? Aren't you going on a world tour with your company? How are you going to coach these kids on the weekend while you're halfway across the world?

*Stevo curses under his breath.*

Stevo: Dammit, your right... I will need to get a real assistant coach.

Wayne: I'm your man!

Stevo: No....

*Stevo flashes a smile.*

Stevo: No Wayne, your not my man, but I know who I can get to be a real assistant coach to these kids... why didn't I think of it before!

Wayne: St-Stevo?

*Stevo reaches into his pocket and pulls out his cell phone.*

Stevo: Jeeves... go ahead and give my old pal Darkhan a call, I have something I need to discuss with him next week.

*Stevo hits the END button and places the phone back into his pocket. Wayne grabs Stevo by the shirt collar as he realizes some of the kids are almost finished with their lap.*

Wayne: Come on... please let me assist you... the soccer moms!

Stevo: If you say soccer moms one more time...

Wayne: PLEASE!

*Wayne once again drops to his knees and once again the parents look over at the two. One of the larger dads starts to take a step towards the stuation, but Stevo quickly pulls Wayne back up to his feet.*

Stevo: I've already got an assistant coach, he's not here today though.

Wayne: But...

Stevo: Look, you can be the assisant to the assistant... okay?

Wayne: R-really!?

Stevo: Yea sure, just stay off to the side and don't tell the kids anything, let me and my real assistant coach and you can help set up for drills and stuff.

Wayne: Thank you! They always said you were a generous guy, but until now I didn't believe them.

Stevo: Whatever, don't mention it. Look, the kids are about done with the lap, it's time for stretching. Get them in a circle while I get ready myself.

*As the kids are finishing up Stevo takes a few steps away and waves towards the other parents who have stuck around and who are in the stands. One of the moms looks at Stevo very strangly but Stevo shrugs it off before turning his attention to the kids, who are all in a circle. Before Stevo can make it to the circle, Billy runs up to him, weezing.*

Billy: Is my dad really the assistant coach?

Stevo: He's the assistant to the assistant... but he's on the staff.

Billy: Oh my god, this is the best!

Stevo: Get back in the circle, Billy.

*Billy does as he is told and Stevo surverys the scene. The team pretty much sucks, it is devoid of any athletes, save Jamal and one girl that Stevo has already been told about. Stevo takes a deep breath before walking over to the kids to begin the practice...*
