Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh, to be exact. Home of CJ Newfield, one of the most successful independent wrestlers in the history of the business. Heinz Field, to be even more precise. Home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the most successful franchises in NFL history. Coincidence that they both call the same place home? Simple answer. No. A shot of the Lombardi Trophy won by the Steelers in Super Bowl XL is the centerpiece of the picture, seated firmly in the middle of Heinz Field’s Coca-Cola Great Hall. CJ walks up and glares at the trophy. “Only great individuals can achieve goals like this. You simply cannot be weak to achieve big things. It takes 11 great players on each side of the ball to be a great team. One weak player gives your opponent a target. Something that they can pinpoint and go after. Wrestling is different. It’s one on one. You’re weak, you say? Sorry, you’re done. Joseph Stryker is the weak link here. I don’t understand what Moretti is doing. He books me against Joey Peyton, a has-been, last week, and now I get to face a…porn star? *cough*…probably does gay porn.” Newfield glances at the camera with an odd look on his face. “Now, I’m not saying I’m afraid of gays, but I sure as HELL don’t like them. You can like men all you want, but when you’re in the ring with me, you had better not go for anything that you’d go doing in your…videos.” Newfield continues to the next pillar, which houses another one of the team’s Super Bowl trophies. “But enough about Stryker and his gay porn. I’m not concerned with him. This match is going to be just like last week. We get in the ring, and not more than 10 minutes later, he will walk from that ring with a loss under his belt. To be short and sweet about it, Stryker is going to suffer the same fate that the Jaguars are going to tonight. I am going to play the part of the Steelers. I’m going to punch him in the mouth and come straight at him until he can’t take it anymore…and then I’ll continue the assault. He is going to play the part of Jacksonville. He’ll be all talk in the week leading up to the showdown, and then when the time comes, he will get knocked out and I’ll be advancing into the next round of the Las Vegas Tournament.” Looking back up at the Lombardi Trophy, Newfield smiles and continues… “The Steelers play for one of these. They see exactly what they will be receiving if they become victorious and win against their opponent. In this Las Vegas Tournament, I don’t even know what I’m competing for. However, that won’t cause me to lose sight of what’s ultimately important…winning. I will go SPOTLESS through this tournament, no matter who I have to take out to get there. And I’ll even go so far as to make an Anthony Smith…” Those of you who are familiar with the Steelers and/or recent NFL news would know that Anthony Smith, 2nd year free safety for the Steelers, guaranteed a win against the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, that didn’t end well for him. He was burned on two deep touchdown passes in a losing effort in New England. “…and make a guarantee. In the finals of the Las Vegas Tournament, it will be the ‘Underground Hero’ CJ Newfield taking on Brock Alyas. And I’ll further that guarantee and predict myself coming out as the victor of that bout. That will ensure momentum for Sonny Carter’s takeover of sVo, and Moretti and his followers will be run out of Las Vegas FOREVER. Furthermore, my sights will be set on the big prize, the sVo Championship. Not that I need motivation, but I have heard through the grapevine that Stryker apparently thinks that because I have been in the ‘underground’ circuit for so long, nobody knows me. I don’t care if you know me or not. You’ll know me after Sunday night’s over, that’s for sure. Go ahead and ask Joey Peyton if he knows who CJ Newfield is now. It’s very very simple…as soon as I land an Indie Cutter on you, there’s no way you’re recovering. Just. No. Way. It’s kinda like a Ben Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes deep ball. If it connects, you’re down for the count. It’s as easy as that. Stryker, you’re nothing but a minor speed bump for me on my fast track to the top of sVo. I am in no way afraid of you. If you think you’re intimidating, you should probably give up on that idea, especially if you’re counting on psyching me out with that. There’s no way I’m backing down from this match, and there’s no way I’m letting you get anywhere near to being in my way of winning this tournament. If anyone needs to worry about being intimidated so much that it knocks them off their game, it’s most definitely you. So maybe, if you’re smart, you might want to just no show tomorrow night. You might be better off going and making another one of your gay porn movies. Either way, things won’t be going in your way tomorrow night. Looks like you and the Jaguars have a lot in common.” Newfield takes one more look at the Lombardi trophy as the screen fades to black. |
