The gun was now barely a centimetre away from my chest. The clowns white face, and his mankey yellow teeth bore in a grin at me. His breath smelt of the strong mixture of alcohol and weed. Had this man been drugging himself up to be able to pull this off? Or was it a consequence of the drugs that have forced him to do this? Either way, something needed to be done. I looked to my right where the glass window was placed, slightly obscured by advertisements and for a split second, I saw a police car pull up beside the bank. If they saw the clown and this man, then they would arrest these fools. But would the clown panic at the sight of them and shoot me? There were two options set in front of me. I either let them see the police, giving them the opportunity to escape, or just continue to look into the clowns sinister green eyes. I took a deep breath and…. Well, what do you think I did? I nodded my head slightly to the right, and they both looked out of the window and saw the police cars. “Shit! The cops! What do we do?!” The clown was now panicking, but he dropped the gun slightly lower. “Well you can do two things,” They both stared at me, clutching at straws for help of their future, which lay in my hands. The power surged through me and into my brain. “Drop that gun, and make a run for it out the back way. You haven’t hurt anyone yet, so I won’t feel bad by letting you go” They both dropped their guns even more lower, pointing at my feet. “Or you could keep those guns pointing at me , get busted and spend the next few years in prison, which the only advice I can give you is not to drop the soap in the showers” They thought for moment, I could see the cogs in their brains working overtime, as they both glanced at each other understandingly, and dropped the guns. “Whatever, just get us out of here!” They were definitely worried now. His quaking voice and shaking hands could paint a picture of rush and urgency. “Right, you boy,” I pointed to a boy behind the counter with his hands still raised. “Take these two men to the fire exit. And quickly” With a jolt, he hopped over the counter and ran to the back, quickly followed by the clown and his companion. With a sigh of relief, I turned back to Jefferson, who still looked petrified, but relief was evident as he grinned at me. Suddenly, great applause broke out as everybody in the vicinity was clapping at my success. I took a deep breath, and even the air seemed to be dancing in celebration. I hoisted Jefferson up onto his feet and without a word, we exited the bank. “Well, how interesting” Jefferson certainly seemed to be able to sum it all up in just one word. Interesting is certainly a good one to use. We carried on walking past the un-weary shoppers and commuters as they went about their daily businesses, not even aware that a crazed clown with a gun was on the loose. And with a sudden realization, I realised with the force of a raging bull at top speed, what exactly I had done. I had let a madman loose on the streets, roaming around, and waiting for his next victim. This is horrible!! What have I done?! But I managed to save at least 10 people back there. Still, this man could threaten to kill many more. Now I know how Mrs. Hitler felt right after child birth. The shock was obviously showing on my face as Jefferson put a reassuringly warm hand on my shoulder. “What’s wrong, lad?” He was staring up at me with his bright blue eyes, which seemed to pierce my soul and look deep inside me. “Nothing. Absolutely nothing” I said this light hearted contempt, yet Jefferson looked slightly troubled still, so I didn’t look at him again and just carried on walking down the street. “What you did back there was very brave. I would never have been able to stand up to anyone with a gun, nor would many others. You are a one of a kind, lad. But please don’t do it too often, you could easily get yourself murdered, and who on earth would save my ass in banks getting robbed?” We both laughed and I felt slightly better inside to hear these comforting words from Jefferson. I turned my head around and for a moment, I thought I saw the flash of a bright red clowns wig disappear around the corner. Now, this is serious stuff. Mr. Spring Heeled Jack has a very logical mind, not always right, but certainly logical. I was impressed with the knowledge a joker could possess after watching his last promo. He took the time to analyze my story and even say who represented what! But this is where he fell short. I remember listening to certain part where he spoke of the clown and who he represented, and I know for a fact this is completely and utterly wrong. The clown, which even a fool could tell, represented Spring Heeled Jack, not only in appearance, but in many other ways. I believe he dresses as he does, to make his opponents nervous and even in some cases, frightened to take one someone as weird as the young man, and this is why the clown thief adopted this style of outfit. The gun however, he got correct. It does represent a championship belt, but not for the reasons which he thinks are true. It represents a dangerous object. Once you hold the gun, you are in grave danger. Once you hold the championship belt, you are also in grave danger. People will want to be the first to topple you off the mountain and get themselves their. The fact that the clown is threatening everyone, is similar to what Spring Heeled Jack is feeling right now. He feels threatened by the prospect of someone who is capable of taking away that glory. What Jack needs to realise is, no matter how much he threatens me; I am and always will be a better talent with more potential than you ever had. Face it, Jack, you are the top of your game, and it still isn’t enough. When I beat you, oh yes, I am going to go out on a limb and say WHEN, rather than the more accurately useable word of ‘if’, I will take away your life which rests uncomfortably on one single match. I don’t to do it, but I need to do it in an attempt to propel myself up the ladder of success, and into the realm of champions. Goodbye park bench, hello lifestyle of the rich and famous….. |
