One could tell it was the begining of many great things for Steve Griffin. And so it continued, he defended his title against a great enemy several times in CHBK, but finally was defeated at the companies first pay per view. He went on to win the tag team championship shortly after with Canadian Badass, but conflicts between them split the team appart and he gave up his half of the championship which Jason O'grady took up. A large war between the CWF and SCW had unfolded at this point, Steve Griffin was awarded the Hardcore Championship he never lost in the CWF as his new prize, the two federations then decided on throwing there best in a match to determine which one moves on and which one shuts down forever. This is arguable the greateast match in SCW history, the Elimination Chamber match, a match where the importance of winning was greater than any before, and the one man was able to finish it off. In a dramatic ending in which Steve Griffin ducked a Sweet Chin Music from CHBK, who was the special referee, and it hit the last man left with him in the match, Griffin confidently pinned this last opponent and forced CHBK to count the pinfall caused by his own mistake, thus Steve Griffin gave SCW the chance to exist further into the future. The formation of the Evolution with CHBK and Kyle Gelinas followed this moment, the world was shocked to see the two greatest enemies suddenly join forces, those who stood in their way suffered greatly. It wasn't long after that Steve Griffin had announced he was taking a Break from wrestling, a chance to get away and perhaps comeback when competition was fierce as it used to be. Months later his promise was delivered, he made a shocking return to the SCW, the hype and energy was back, the Big Shot was back, he was entered into a Intercontinental Championship tournament, his first match didn't go so well, he came up just short of victory against Jay Gold. This served him as a wake up call sending him on a great streak, starting with a chance meeting with Kevin Mask in the ring, the champion at the time. Steve Griffin entered the ring regarded as the rusty one, but he pulled away victorious, and once again, the Heavyweight Champion. From that point on he was an unstoppable force, opponent after opponent was taken down, and then, to top it off, the rebirth of, The Evolution occured. The team was so dominant once more, even more than last time they were together, they made quick work of the tag team battle royal and won the tag team championship, but each of them were driven apart by their will to be individually successful, and the Evolution was no more. The SCW Anniversary had arrived, and with it came the greatest Event of the year, Rise to Greatness, a classic bout between CHBK and Steve Griffin was to top the show, and what a show it was. Both men wanted to win it, but one man promised long ago he would avenge his only loss to CHBK with a victory that night, and so he did, in one of the best one on one matches in SCW history, Steve Griffin came out victorious once again. All was said and done, a few days had passed, and a sudden announcement made by Steve Griffin would shock the world. He decided to call it a career and announce his offical retirement, having done what he set out to do, win another Championship, Get into the Hall Of Fame, and claim victory over the defeat which haunted him for a long time. Steve Griffin handed his title over to CHBK, he truely felt he was the suitable man for the title other than himself. Steve Griffin is a legend who built his career up to be just that, hard work, dedication, and tremendous ring skills has made this man one of the greatest if not The greatest SCW Superstar of this age.
