Anthony Adams grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts. The same city Walter Scott was born in. While Anthony Adams is about a year younger than Walter Scott and while they grew up in different cities, the both of them met when Anthony Adams was in the crowd of a high school wrestling match as Walter’s high school went up against Anthony’s high school. The two again met the following fall as Brockton High School had a football game against Taunton High School in Taunton. Walter saw the size and strength of Anthony and encouraged him to get into college football, as Walter was a Senior and on his way to a scholarship as a wrestler at Harvard. Unfortunately, Anthony got into a fight outside of school that resulted in him seriously hurting the person. It is said that the man nearly suffered a brain injury and that’s what put Anthony into jail for six months of his Junior year of high school. While in jail, it’s also said that Anthony got into numerous fights with people who thought he wouldn’t stand up for himself because of his age. After being released from juvie, Anthony wasn’t allowed to play high school football and decided to start weight lifting to remain in shape and stay out of trouble. Anthony would graduate high school in 2013 and at the time of his graduation was 6’5” and weighed about 260 lbs. Meanwhile, Walter Scott had a freak injury that prevented him from continuing his collegiate wrestling career, however he decided to make a transition into the Pro Wrestling world and became The Natural based on what all of his coaches called him. Anthony would walk-on to the UMASS Amherst football team in the summer of 2013 and play Defensive End in the 4-3 or Outside Linebacker in the 3-4. Anthony had an exceptional career throughout the three years he was on the team despite UMASS not having that great of a winning percentage. In the final game of his Junior season in 2015, Anthony suffered an injury to his biceps and was told that he would never play football again. Also around this time, Walter Scott signed a development contract with ECW after a lot of success in minor leagues. Anthony would rehab his biceps and made the decision to begin a Pro Wrestling career. By this time, Anthony was 6’7” and weighed 275 lbs, and decided that he needed to gain about 20 lbs of muscle if he wanted to get a career in the wrestling business. Anthony also began training with the same school Walter Scott trained at and caught on almost immediately. Anthony would be signed to a development contract with ECW late in 2016 after Walter Scott had the biggest match of his career against Sean Nice at Royal Rumble 2. Anthony made his debut on the first NXT of the following month on the road to Fastlane and would find himself in the main event of that same PPV, competing in a 6-Man Ladder match for the Hardcore Championship. |
