Wow! I'm still trying to find the right words to describe this, let's say masterpiece. Look, I'm not saying that Bane is better than the Joker, I'm not saying that I was more excited through this, but I am saying that as a total package, this movie is better than the Dark Knight by a fraction, and that this is the best superhero movie of all time, as well as best superhero franchise of all time.

WARNING: Spoilers Follow below, this movie has A TON of plot twists and unexpected happenings, DO NOT READ BELOW if you care about upholding secrecy about the movie.

So let's start with the plot. Once again, I admire Chris Nolan's ability to keep the movie based in reality, and not do any super power stuff. He does that fantastically. Now the plot. 8 years after Dent's death, Batman has turned himself into a villain, as Gordon is covering up the Two Face killings. Batman has dissapeared and Bruce Wayne is in hiding at Wayne Manor (Rebuilt from Begins). Then Bane shows up to spread chaos, and make the citizens of Gotham scared and helpless again. His end goal is to destroy Gotham, and he does this because the whole end goal is carrying out the legacy of Ra's Al Ghul. So Batman comes back to kick some ass, Catwoman helps him after learning of Bane's plans to destroy the city, etc. Pretty basic and to the point plot, but there were many twists that I haven't revealed yet, so keep reading.

Characters: I think I'll look at each one by one. First, let me say that I was EXTREMELY worried about a Spider Man 3 syndrome where too many new characters would be brought in. And a lot were in the movie, however it takes nothing away, each of them getting the correct amount of screentime (Except for Alfred, I would've liked to see a bit more of him.)

Batman/Wayne: He's more depressed now because of Rachel, he's a recluse, and he's lost a lot of his ability to fight. In fact, Bane DOES break his back in the movie, so the movie takes place over a set amount of time. You really feel like he grows as a character, as Alfred finally reveals Rachel's note to him, he has to come back as Batman despite everyone hating him, etc. Christian Bale did a amazing job, and that deserves to be agknowledged despite the voice (Which I felt was a bit toned down for this one, actually.)

Bane: They nailed his character from the comics to a tee. I still wasn't crazy about his actual outfit, though there was an explanation for his mask that made sense. He was a manipulator, he was strong, he thought ahead. However, like Loki, he was a pawn. But UNLIKE Loki, this wasn't revealed until the third act, and the one pulling the strings actually has a prescence. Bane was great, I was skeptical at first, but he blew me away with the performance and the way he's portrayed.

Catwoman: She stole the show. Like Heath Ledger, when you heard Anne Hathaway, Disney girl, was going to play Catwoman, everyone got nervous. She threw those thoughts out the window with this, she is the best live action Catwoman yet. She's smart, she's maniipulative, she's a thief, but she knows when to take sides and with who. She was a great and believable romantic interest for Wayne, she kicked ass for this one. I didn't think she'd be bad, but I was expecting nothing great, she proved me wrong.

John Blake: This is the cop played by Joseph Gordon Levitt. After Gordon sustains an injury, Levitt takes over the investigation into Bane. They got Robin in there, without ACTUALLY getting Robin in there, and I loved that. This guy never puts on a cheesy costume, but he is a sidekick, but he's also strong, smart, he's basically Gordon. It is revealed that his first name is actually Robin, and I loved the fanservice there. The character could've come off as cheesy, but he didn't.

Miranda Tate: AKA Talia Al Ghul (Called it from the start.) Tate is an executive at Wayne enterpprises, and tricks Bruce Wayne into housing a nuclear weapon at the building. She is the one pulling the strings of Bane, who has protected her since she was a child, even sacrificing most of his face to save her (Yeah, that's why he needs the mask that actually keeps him alive.) Her character is great, she doesn't get a ton of screentime, but she gets enough to surprise us at the reveal of Talia. You can feel the hate coming off of her for her father, and her desire to finish what he could not. I would've liked to see her kick some more ass like she did in the comics, but they went for the smart approach, which is just fine.

And other characters include Jim Gordon, who is injured early on and doesn't do a whole lot, but he's still in there. Alfred disapears most of the movie because he dissaproves of Bruce putting the suit on again, Lucious Fox is in there helping Bruce as Usual, Scarecrow is used as a associate of Bane, it's great.

Now the ending. It wraps up the story perfectly. Talia and Bane have activated the nuclear device, and Catwoman and Batman have a show down against them. The villains are defeated, and Batman takes the device with him and sacrifices himself to destroy it, or does he? At the end, Alfred sees Bruce and Selina in a cafe together. The end. There's more to it than that, but that's the gist. It is rewarding, it's the perfect overall third act to the final movie in the franchise. Just amazing.

I NEVER looked at the time for this movie, nearly three hours went by in no time, and I was sad to see it end. I love this triligy so much, it's a real heartfelt story that you can get behind because it's set int he real world and is believable. Thank you so much Chris Nolan, for delivering me one of my favorite franchises of all time.

So, as a reviewer, I know that no film is perfect, and I had a few nitpicks with this movie, nothing big.
So I am going to give this film-
9.80/10
