You can manipulate any religion in to something that makes no sense.

Pad, Christians believe the Earth has been here around 6000 years, and Jesus came 2000 years ago, so the 1500th thing does not make sense in this case.

I really didn't want to say this but... I put more stock in a carbondating system than that sort of thing. However you do make a decent point by that.

Also I aplogise to those who I may have offended with my final sentance in my last post. I would also like to put forward the fact that maybe I might be offended when people try to tell me I should give my life up to some God/Lord who suposedly gave up his son for me and all man. I don't know, one messiah at the price of all earths population... ya right.

I was at a boyscout function today and I listened minorly desterbed to this small part of a prayer "and so that we may surender our minds and bodys to him and his will"; to what end is this I ask you?

For him to guide us. Look, this may sound strange but before a math test that I wasn't prepared for I prayed and opened myself to God and guess what?
I'm not saying that God gave me the solutions because he sees everything, but I knew that he was helping me and that gave me strength and I believed way more in myself. So, if you worship nothing at all, you only lose, you don't win anything.
A survey here in Portugal:
Believers and non-believers were shocked 12volts every 5 seconds while seeing religious and non-religious pictures. The believers that saw religious pictures resisted more when they saw them. That also tells a bit.

You failed the maths test??? Maths is really easy even if you arent prepared. Didnt know how to work out angles using trig (missed lesson). Had a test with 10 questions on it. I was 1 of 3 to get full marks (other 2 smartest at maths in school). Teacher said I looked as if Id learnt it back-to-front

If god is real then may he strike me down tomorrow

Does it show their devotion to religon or that religon made them able to endure? I admire the devotion that I think was the cause, religon didn't make them stronger; they only continued because they had somthing to prove. Fools sit in chairs being shocked wile looking at jesus, wise men take the cash they recieved for sitting through one shock and go get some lunch.

Saj 61: I am the best of my class at maths. But, maybe not at your school, we have to learn more than 20 formulas and God won't strike you down tomorrow, because of the same reason I won't die for saying "I should die tomorrow if Arizona is a state of the USA". I don't get why atheists always come up with those challenging sentences to God. HE doesn't need to prove anything to you, same as Arizona won't phone you and say "Oh hi I saw your thread and just wanted to clear something..."

Hint: They don't. You just pick up on the ones that do and ignore the others.

That's one of the saddest things I've seen in religious teaching--the encouragements to hold fast against persecution tend to make people look for it.

Meh, it's not as if religion is the only one there. Non-christians can be quite offensive towards the bible too, claiming it is the worst thing they've ever seen, based on a few sentences, or maybe even none, that don't make sense to them, whilst overlooking so many of the wise words in the bible. Saying that the bible is a crappy book is rather ignorant. The only reason I oppose Christianity is because of the way it works in real life. I find it hard to believe in a religion that has so many prejudices towards minorities, like gays. However, the few things I know from the bible (I haven't read it, but I've been wanting to) are some of the wisest words I've heard so far.
One sentence I particulary liked. Not sure if it's in the bible too, but at least Jesus said it (I hope the translation is close enough):"If someone hits you on the cheek, turn your other cheek to him." (or something like that). I strongly oppose reallife violence. In-game violence is perfectly fine though :P .

God and Religion alike are both simply forms of faith. People but their faith into something, to make them feel better. They THINK [in my opinion] that it's helping them. However, it's purely psychological [in my opinion, again].
