I should probably count concussions, then cycling and sumo wrestling would also be sports, and if I counted dislocations, you could add tennis. If stitches were added, then wrestling would also be a sport, and I'm good with that...

In other words, in order to be a sport, you have to love it enough to sacrifice at least the body for it, if not the mind and soul as well B) Well, except for the sumo thing. I got knocked out of one of those padded sumo wresting things they have at fairs. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's just a big padded suit that makes you look really fat while letting you beat up a friend without sustaining injury...unless you're me...then you'll find a way to get knocked out of the ring and land head first :P

Only one way to live life my friend :P Besides, that was all done when I was a stupid kid. I didn't play video games much when I was younger. I had to tear my body down before I accepted being this docile ;)

Well, I voted no because in my mind, a game doesn't become a sport until I break a bone doing it :P

Games that are now sports:

Woodcutting

Ent get you?

Or did your axe break and hit you?

LMFAO. How do you break a bone cutting down a tree...? lol

Erm, If you hit a hard bit of the tree, it can splinter your bone in your arm.

I was actually splitting the wood for the fire. I was getting tired and with one stroke just barely hit the block. Thank god it was enough to twist the axe head because it was just the blunt end that caught and broke my ankle. Had I been about a centimeter more over, I'd have lost a foot O.o

You sacrifice the body when you play Video Games, don't you lol? I meen, you could die from all that artery-clogging going on while munching on cheesy poofs while pwning up t3h nubs in Halo 3!

No. But the Wii is an exception

That is a topic that is highly debated here. Many people say it gives no amount of excersize at all, but other say playing more "hands on" games, like golfing, are starting to work their way up the health pyramid.

It may not be the best way to get healthy through exercise, but comparing to other videogames where you only sit down and press buttons it is really good for getting healthy and strong.

I voted yes.

Videogames are an exercise, but not required to be physical. They are... mental sports, if you will.

Some games require patience and timing (RS is one, along with games that involve using a sniper rifle), lots of them have puzzles and hidden things (if you've ever played Legend of Zelda games, you know of this), and some require incredible reflexes and timing of every aspect of playing (GunZ is a good example, WoW might also be). Some even require mastery of strategy.

^all of the above are games I have played before^

Even the DS has games that test your brain and make you smarter.
And again bringing up the topic of money, video game tournaments as well as sports can bring in money (dang, I really need to find and win a tournament like that O.o ).

And of course, some people like to bring video games to the extremes. If you've ever watched pro vs pro Super Smash Bros, Unreal Tournament, Halo, etc etc etc etc..., that's the result.

Gaming? Sport? No way man O.o. That's like saying "sitting on your ass using your fingers" is a sport. Sure, there is Wii and sure, that COULD be THOUGHT OF as a sport, but all in all, gaming is NOT a sport <_<.

Finally, I was waiting for somebody to put their full thoughts down! Good job!

By the way, me and a few of my friends could be pro's if we actually went out for it in Halo 3. =)

Yes, but that could become borderline to exercise machine rather than a video game. O.o

its not a sport because you can't be real compeditive and technically you can't be proffessional gamer you can play in tournaments and win money but that doesn't make it a sport.

Gaming is moving, it needs focus and you have to think (fast), therefore I count is as a sport.

If Gaming isn't one, neither is Chess.
