What the actual FUCK? :o

I don't know whether I should feel happy they're working on it, or enraged because they might keep fucking up the game.

I am curious which tracks will they 'use' to this. (Gabor's tracks, Grisville, Vertland etc.)

It seems like it will be all about micro transactions again as you will get crystals if you register for early access. I'm kind off curious what this game will look like although i'm pretty sure that i don't really want to see it.

It seems this version won't change much from Re-Volt 2: microtransactions, skin changing, upgrading "parts", FB connection... Only some hypothethical graphics enhancement. At least that's what I can read from this description. But 100 "locations"? 50 cars? I smell a smelly smell... :ph43r:

Maybe with all that money WeGo made from Re-Volt 2, they might come out with stuff that's more than just oversized bobble heads mounted on an R / C car frame.

As far as I know, with the PC version cars + dreamcast cars (and any others i'm missing that came with buying the rights of the game) it could be very well that they have 50 cars. But honestly, most of them are the same (from the dreamcast).. just repainted hummas, toyecas, etc...)

And also, all the cars they released with RV2, they could combine it with that. (say, their hit cars)

Me, i'll only get it on my phone if it's free and operates on iPhone 4 (as that's what I have).

Right now, i'm concerned with helping out with the current RV projects on my hands (including my new version of Bog Buster (the bog thrasher - features no guns).

So yeah, hands are too full to worry about the upcoming 'rv3'

It seems to be Android-only though, but perhaps they add iOS down the road like they did with RV2 (or RV2 Multiplayer or whatever they did there).

However I find it interesting that they specifically coded the page so that no input is allowed except for the designated areas, including right mouse click.

That "More than 100 stages with different stories to clear" also sounds weird, especially considering that so far all the iterations of the game had no story whatsoever (yes I know there was one in the original manual but that was so forced together and detached from the game that it might as well be non-existent).

Looking at the background image of the site I fear that they might be doing some weird mix between comic and visual novel (due to the two "characters" standing there) for story which could appear in-between races, but thats of course all just wild speculation.

Also judging by the fact that SprinterXL is featured in there its very likely that once again the original cars will make an "appearance".

i'm pretty concerned for what they do/did/doing with the Re-Volt series progress that utterly disappoint me more and more.

from what i've just seen in the sites that Phantom have just put, and Kenny's reply with the 'RV3' background image link, i'm afraid they're making "RV3" to have a story or visual novel in the middle of race or championship - like cutscenes. there are hundreds and thousands of tracks in RV forums, yes, but "More than 100 stages with different stories to clear" ? HOW?

it would be funny, but i don't think it would be fun, because that's not the point of playing this nostalgic, everlasting, RC arcade racing game - Re-Volt.

[offtopic]as said by Gel38 - "So yeah, hands are too full to worry about the upcoming 'rv3' ", i'm pretty sure i'm similar to someone running, after picking up the papers, and finish all of them while running to catch the next papers. i'm paying my debts and promises. these unfinished packs and projects keeps me busy, won't go outside for a long time until i finish.[/offtopic]
You know that is love when the first try you made a drift params and it worked smoothly, beautifully, and most of all, perfectly.

Had no success, if someone could grab me the APK i would be glad.
I wanna see if its really different

EDIT:I must say im impressed, its a different game, it indeed has better graphics but, it just doesn't look like ReVolt anymore, i will take a peek at the files later and take some screenshots [spoiler=spoiler]However, i can only show them via PM[/spoiler].
I will play more and give a better veredict later.

OR,maybe not, its crashing after the first race.

It's not worth it. It might be passable technically for a cheap budget mobile game like the asphalt series, but it is even worse than that. The gameplay (race modes, campaign, car tuning, ...) is just too simplistic and stupid. Measured by the simplicity of the tracks, this is nothing more than a short and shallow game for kids.
As expected, it is not worthy of the title Re-Volt 3.

Wow, they have sure f**ked it up really hard this time, the exact same way as Acclaim did 16 years ago.
Except that, Acclaim renamed it to "RC Revenge", while WeGOi still kept "Re-Volt".
I was really fine with "Re-Volt 2", but this ain't Re-Volt no more, Re-Volt name has been butchered and they should rename "Re-Volt 3" to "Rc Revenge 2"
----
So, yeah, right now I'm in Pas-De-Calais (France) and I was able to get a download link. The "dark screenshots" perhaps hinted a game engine change... why not?

The first thing I got when I entered is the "additional file download", ~200MB.
The next thing is I found myself racing in an RC onroad track, (like Amco Bitume or BSR's tracks).

Where are the pickups? I really would like to know.

and the time I started to race, I found a "Melissa" nagging me about controls, the f**k I'm not stupid I really see the controls, the time game resumes it stops again for telling me about the controls tutorial. Probably guessing Melissa was modeled after Emma Watson.

The controls and game play are oddly looking more like RC Revenge (or maybe more like RC Cars), to crash (on a wall/car) means camera shaking (in the worst horrible way). The controls were good to some extent, much better than most of the other games I played on android.

So, not fun of onroad tracks? let's pick another track.
Haha, no no there is NO possibility to choose another track
No possibility to change the "sprinter car" either
Although it's a bit realistic (to same extent) to have one car and you may want to customize it but for God's sake we're playing this because we know it's NOT real.

The flag animation is good btw

Pro:
+ Good controls

Cons:
- everything else
- the main character

Note: this is my first play review. So, perhaps after clearing the first track (after battery refill) there may be other good points, who knows?

So they want to sell this game as realistic and then make one of their lower tier RC cars have a top speed of 144 km/h? :rolleyes:

At least it looks different enough from the original to justify the successor name, though personally I would have preferred if they just named it something else (I guess that wasn't an option since they already own the license and want to have some "name recognition").

I would be surprised if they kept working with the original engine for this so I guess they switched to a completely different one which probably makes any effort to port the cars/levels unecessarily complicated.

They probably used the scaled system (km/h x10). Because if not (also, that's clearly not even the max speed for that car), then the tracks have to be big enough to keep a 200 km/h lightning on the track without bouncing on the walls.

The engine didn't change at all. They added nothing but some consistent fog and heavy mipmap. Texture are just hi-res, cars still have the static shadow (don't you think they should move to a different shadow type? we are in 2016, static shadows ended with the ps2 era), the track's models are still lo-poly to make room for cars' hi-poly models. And from what I can see they just made 4/5 tracks this way and reused them till death for the missions, the exact same way they did with Re-Volt 2 (I hope there are more tracks than the first one because this one must have implied a good effort and it's far better than the average of the tracks we see on RVZ, at least on the details). At least doesn't run on a DC emulator so it isn't a complete s**t.

They're using Unity, has nothing to do with the old engine. The game was apparently developed by http://www.lockincomp.com/.
The Dreamcast version was ported to iOS by BigBit. None of WeGo's ports utilized an emulator.

As for tracks, they have:

* circuitoff_n
* circuiton_n
* hood
* hood_n_on_speed01
* mart_n
* mountain_n
* museum_n
* toyworld_n
* townalley_n
* townalleysunset_n

All of the tracks are ridiculously easy and short.

About the emulator thing I meant that the game was actually the Re-Volt DC on the android/Ios so it was like on an emulator. About the new engine, they did a bad job with the shadows and the tracks models so it's a bit like the old one anyways.

The game itself has the exact same bugs of the dreamcast version. Wego just added the shadows bug to it and removed the track editor, other than that they just ported it as it was, porting the bugs (starting from the fact that the game doesn't save the speed unit of measure and resets it to scaled mph every time you start the game). I am talking about the Re-Volt: Classic game by the way, Revolt 2 kept the same ".exe" file (it doesn't have a .exe anyways) but different gamefiles and menus and stuff.

- Re-Volt Classic [iOS] is based on Dreamcast version. Ported by BigBit.
- Re-Volt Classic [Android & and probably SmartTV] is based on RV Classic [iOS] and was ported by someone else (I highly doubt WeGo did themselves)
- Re-Volt 2 is based on RV Classic [Android]. The engine (mainly car physics and UI) as well as file system are heavily modified.
- RV 2 Multiplayer is based on RV 2. Version for iOS was released later too.

- Re-Volt 3 has a completely different engine. It is Unity.
