ElectricBee's Aerials "Evolution" update

From the top! This new release of ElectricBee's Aerials handles things way differently, but you can still extract to your game archive and use all the same.

Some knowledge of terminal / cmd.exe is required! After extraction, open your command-line interpreter and cd
to your game directory, then refer to the stuff in <span style='font-family:courier'>eba-docs to figure out how you want to install this.</span>

Stock files now come with the archive in case you fluff things up.

I added a small FAQ to the top of the discussion thread; If you don't feel like digging through readmes I highly encourage you see the discussion thread to possibly answer some of your questions.


Major changes between revisions
Batch is life #1: Relocated batch installer to archive root and added choice menus for a lot of the menu items, included unattended installation options.
Opaque: All of the aerial stems, remade using the game's stock aerial instead of Iron Bob's replacement stock aerial.
Rebirth: Individual batch files for everything, and no such thing as batch menus. Read what of eba-docs you can.
Evolution: Rebirth again, basically, but also moved to Github.

Online racing information
The use of this pack's contents on stock cars will make them cheat cars. To ensure people don't act negatively to you because of some odd cosmetic modifications you specified in parameters.txt, be sure to make a copy of your stock parameters in case any room host accuses you of hacking / cheating, or try to make a case against you for use cosmetic mods like this.

Introduction and differences
Wait... don't we already have Iron Bob's aerials?
Well, yes, but let me introduce this first and you'll understand why I made this.

Iron Bob's aerials exhibited some issues I've seen that appear to stem from the nature of how aerials were handled in the game before.

The game's default aerial has a tip separate from the aerial stem, yes, but the tip has a little bit of the "Stem" still on it, which I assume is why Iron Bob's aerials have tips specific for which stem is in use. These aerials handle things slightly differently;

Each aerial tip has none of the stem on it. This means, unlike in IBA, where you are absolutely forced to use an aerial stem that corresponds with a tip, because of how the tips has been remodeled you can freely mix and match them without the aerials looking weird in doing so. (So no mixing black with white or other crap like that.) This also means each aerial is shorter, but not by much; You'll hardly notice the height difference. The tips also have vertex coloring, which means the colors are slightly dynamic under light.

Each aerial component also take up a very, very, very small space on the provided texture, taking advantage of this new style of mapping differing from texture mapping approaches in the past.

Usage
Simply extract the contents of the archive to your game's directory and run one of the scripts in eba-inst from your system's command-line interpreter, while at the game's directory. This mod uses a different FxPage1.BMP file. The batch scripts will rename whatever copy of FxPage1.bmp is present for later reverting should you remove this mod.

To figure out which aerial you want to use, understand the naming convention used for each aerial;
EBAx-RRGGBB
EBA: ElectricBee's Aerial
x: s for stem, t for tip
-RRGGBB: Color (in hex)

So if you want an orange stem with a hot pink tip, specify as follows;

Easy, right? And there will be more colors in the future! Because of the way I have things set up, possibilities for expansion are endless.

Compatibility
There will still be cars that use Iron Bob's Aerials. If you have some in your collection you want to switch over, match what you're using now and compare it to what works using the table below;

They can also be either hardlinked or duplicated! There are batch scripts in eba-bat for Windows users, and shell scripts in eba-sh for everyone else. Through the process of making hardlinks or renamed duplicates, you can continue to enjoy any car using Iron Bob's Aerials error-free without any modification because either method makes them usable in the game.

Information about inclusion
Because I know undoubtedly one person is going to use these as part of their car (especially when more colours specific to other people's vehicles are included), do NOT under any circumstance, for any reason include this pack directly. Instead, either include a URL file to this forum thread, or the copy.com repository therein.

Removal
View eba-docs/Update and Maintenance.txt. If you want a do-over because you changed your mind about how it is installed, try using the scripts for resetting your EBA installation instead of completely removing it, to use with another batch script later.

Known bugs
The scripts in eba-bat dump you at the last used archive instead of at root. Just cd .. your way back to it after.

If you had not seen by the OP, I shown an illogical use of IBA just to demonstrate the point of my aerials, which is to show even with illogical combinations that end up with mixed stem / aerial body, there is no mixing because my aerials take that element out.

That and more colours.

I made a thing for users of ZipperZbieracz's aerials here.

It only has red static / blue free bubble images thus far, waiting on him to permit more modifications.


I no longer support this. It was a pain in the butt to make before, and it'll be a pain to update it now.

I appended the OP with information about the unintended side-effects of using this mod. It really sucks I had to add it in, but because of recent events that happened to me, I included this information for the benefit of other users who may be using my mod while doing online racing.

Finally there is an option for Linux users. made in response to RVGL being a thing. Also, a couple new request colours.

Edit: I have performed some changes for Linux users; in the next release after the toyeca update I will recommend to cd into their game directory and do rm -rf eba-*
