This is a video from a non-leaked version of Revolt that I pulled from a development kit. The options available are a bit different from the leaked version, while it also lacks some of the graphical glitches. Im hoping to have another build soon :)

Sure I can do more videos. I havent played the leaked Xbox build all that much, but you can see that the menus are different, font is a more finished one, and quite a few other differences. It actually has to .XBEs, one being a debug build with a few more options.

I agree, what's this awesomeness... :)

By the way, the leaked XBOX code was the one used with Re-Volt 1.2, but since people didn't have an XBOX, they just removed everything irrelevant to clean the code and make exclusively for PC.
It wouldn't hurt visiting my blog or Re-Volt frontend's :)

What happened to Zipper???

You can see from space it is not finished... And... every car that on PC is FWD there is RWD! Not the 1st time I see this FWD/RWD strange thing.

It bugs me how the GO! sound doesn't change pitch.

Ill do some more video tonight. I knew about the source code being what everything was built off of. The one question I always had that no one answered (and Im too lazy to look at the source myself) is what date the source was from? Would be nice to place this build and hopefully the one I have on the way on a timeline of sorts, assuming it pans out anyway. I am just terrible at the game and I hate having to delete comments that say so hah.

I knew it wasn't finished. About the "go!" sound even in PC version it is used the same file. In Xbox version the frequency is not changed. The same with the piano. NO, I'm not a genius. The PC files for the sounds are recognised by media player classic.

Exactly, Re-Volt uses a pitch system for sounds that's done by alternating the "speed" of the sound (hardcoded). The car/engine sound, piano, Go. All of them use it.

This is because they had to keep the minimum as possible wavs for older pcs.
---
The XBOX soundtrack is CD-based, which is different from the other leaked version containing the original soundtrack full non-cut. If you're to ask me I believe this *unleaked* version is the earlier version of *leaked* version . Not sure.

Oh yeah... the sound track. This Xbox version uses every song in both race and frontend. The credit song have been heard twice. The version doesn't have a good song sistem.

Someone should continue this version. Someone that knows how Xbox works.

There was a 6 car limit on this one... what a bugger. :|

I found out the instructions to be really neat, even though none of us needs them anyways, ahah.

What I really found useful, is the ability to choose the next race without going to the Frontend again. Too bad there's no one working on RV 1.2. anymore to implement this...

If I had to guess as well, this version is earlier. Still pretty interesting. Ill run the other XBE later, this one was the debug version.

Ah, don't misunderstand me.
In fact, we'd love to hear more about previous versions, many of us are already collecting demos spread on the internet. (used to be one myself lol).

Thanks for sharing with us those precious information :)

other XBE? :o

I know, I wasn't complaining or anything :) Was just agreeing that it was likely earlier.

This XBE loads more stuff, like you can see the Frontend and Online tracks in the video. The other XBE doesnt but is functionally pretty much the same.

Hi Borman! This is awesome! Thanks a lot for sharing it here.

I'd like to know where did you get the Japanese video promotion which is on your site:

I'm a week off and something interesting happens :P

Anyway, its nice to see some more gameplay of the unfinished Xbox version. I'm wondering, is the steering analog or digital? (it looks like the latter in the videos)

Regarding the date from the version of the leaked source, the last modified date of the files indicate 24.09.2002 though that could just be the time when the source was copied and any last modification was done at a completely different date.

There are also some comments in the source that reveal some dates about some modifications but I didn't really go through them.

It was pulled off a Japanese disk, it's on quite a few of them I think. Ill have to double check when exactly it is from.

Technically I already have another build of Revolt, this one from the Beta Live Xboxes which were modified debug kits meant to test Xbox Live. This is NOT the same as the public beta, as those worked on retail Xboxes, not that I dont also have that. Sadly, functionally they are pretty much the same and require live, although this build is unique in that it runs ONLY on Beta Live kits, not even modified retail or development kits will play it :P

The build in the video is from January 23, 2004, so it is actually later. The debug XBE is actually even later, February 9, 2004, so someone at Acclaim was either still working on it or wanted to play it hah. Edit: It really is a weird build date, I almost wonder if it was set incorrectly.

To be fair, that would explain some of the differences that favor this build, like the better font for the UI.

An additional video, this time using the standard, non-debug XBE.
