Well as you figured out if not already I'm new around these parts but recently stumbled a crossed this game few days ago and was browsing around to see if any NASCAR mods was available which I found someone made a NASCAR mod for it but lacked the NASCAR feel to it.
Clicky clicky

Now to cut to the chase I'm a NASCAR fanatic and thought of updating that mod. Now I would reskin the old cars updating them to the 2012-2013 season found here CLICKY and create the NASCAR circuits or whatever I can do with the limitations of Re-Volt.

I like to see if you would all be interested in this.

Now, to answer why would a new guy take on such a big project because I love taking on new challenges and would think having NASCAR RC style racing would be fun.

It would be awesome, yes.
Little info though:
That thread you linked wasn't a mod, it was an online race meet. I just grabbed some random racing type tracks that were available at the time and the nascar pack that was on RVA.

I recommend you look at the custom track Daytoya.

Thanks! I was thinking of pming you about that NASCAR mod but as you posted I found a full set of cars and good thing is most of the cars I can salvage without touching since most of the car schemes haven't changed over the years. I will definitely use Daytona as testing and so fourth.

One method I was considering in creating the tracks was get a nice overview of each circuit and go from there.

If you're really into it 3d modelling would be the way to go, but I guess you can get away with double sized legos. There aren't really any current models that would fit a nascar-esque track.

I would mostly get a nice overview of the track and use it as a outline for modeling the tracks by hand.... the other challenge I'm up to is modeling it by hand. The hard part of the whole deal is already done in my opinion which width of the actual racing surface..... will use the dimensions for all the other speedways. From racing in revolt I think the banking can easily work up to 36 degrees or higher.

The two tracks that I might actually avoid for now is Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International.

All the extra addons to the tracks like the pit box's, scoring towers and so will be alpha to cut down on the poly's in the maps. I just don't think it is necessary to do grandstands at the moment.

Over the weeks I will get all my dimension and stuff to get the first track.

If you're worried about the banking being too steep, don't. You can easily edit the amount of downforce and grip the cars receive.
