I've seen videos of "panga carnage" and such on youtube, and I would like to mod clockwork carnage to add as much cars as my pc can handle, and it averages 500-600 fps on standard clockwork carnage. Problem is, I can't find the files I would need to modify to achieve this. Would I need uber hacker skills to do this, or can someone enlighten me? |

Wincar4 folder in 'cars' is the clockwork carnage car. Copy the folder somewhere first, in order to back it up. Then delete all files in Wincar4, copy panga's files into that folder, open parameters.txt and replace the targets (at the top of the file, where it lists the file directories) from 'Panga' to 'Wincar4'. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. |

Thank you, but I do not wish to change the cars; this I already know how to. Say I want to make it 60 cars instead of 30, would this be achievable with my perhaps better-than-average, but still not extensive, understanding of re-volt modding? |

Nope. That would take a change in Re-Volt's coding. You can make your case over here if you want to see it in Re-Volt 1.2. |

As Dave already mentioned, you would need to change the actual source code of Re-Volt in order to race with more cars. The change itself is actually pretty easy (just one value to change) but only up to 100 cars, then he fails to create more cars (for various reasons). Not to mention a few other bugs that appear like not usable pickups. I did the test myself, my (main) system specs are: Intel i5 3750k @3.40GHz Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 8GB DDR3 RAM Win7 Professional x64 And I usually get 600-1000fps. With 101 clockworks the framerate drops to 60-70 fps (but only when he has to render all the cars which is only the case when the race starts and ends). Overall this is a pretty useless information and a feature like driving 100 car's in Re-Volt is totally unecessary. Gameplay wise it's unplayable (30 cars are already a limit here) and benchmark wise it's not really a useful indicator of what your hardware is capable of. There are bechmark programs for that reason (like 3D Mark). If you want to stress out your hardware specifically with Re-Volt (but without needing to change the source code) I suggest you search yourself a high-res level and car (and replace clockwork with the high-res car). Broken Sunlight is the level where I experienced my lowest framerate so far (http://z3.invisionfree.com/Revolt_Live/index.php?showtopic=2406) and you'll need to search for the car yourself (I had 2048x2048 high poly car but I'm currently unable to find it again). |

Thanks guys. I'm not, however, able to find the said value for number of cars, would I need Wolf R4? Or perhaps I'm searching in the wrong place? I'm not much of a programmer, so is it normal that I fail to find the source code? |

Note that WolfR4 can't be installed over Re-Volt 1.2. You need an exact 1.1 (Build 1207) to use it. |

This seems resolvable and an easy fix to the code; Just have Clockwork Carnage use the max cars parameter for normal racing, and if someone wants to up that value (to say, a "Sane" limit like 50), then the player is free to do so. Something else I would like to see in the Options menu is for the player to freely enable or disable certain cars, so when someone decides to do the full F-Zero X/GX/AX roster of vehicles (as an instance), then someone can specify to have only F-Zero vehicles be selectable by the AI. Of course this should apply only to practice and single race, not championship mode. At the very least have a switch for the player to specify a shortcut that lets the AI choose only certain vehicles regardless of the cpuselectable parameter. |

Thanks. My point was not to stress out my PC, but to race on a very wide track with a huge quantity of cars, I believe this would be awesome. |

They are (but note that I only posted them to show the possibilities of Re-Volt). You might notice that some cars are in an unnatural position, thats because I disabled the engine movement code to be able to screencap them in their original state. |

While Kenny's video is surely astounding, I'd like to prevent going offtopic from the OP. Kenny, make a thread and show how that works, I'm interested and I'm sure others are as well. |

I don't think there's a need for that, especially since the answer for your questions has been posted here twice already. You need to properly modify the source code and recompile the game to achieve this, there's no other way around it. I hope there won't be any more people who want to continue this discussion (and eventually continue with the offtopic), at least for me there's not much more to say than this: If you want me to release my binaries I don't think it would be wise to do it for various reasons. I don't want to point my finger towards huki and jigebren (though I believe a request like more cars has been made a long time ago already) but you have to turn to them if you want to see something like this in the game. [offtopic]@Skarma: Well I wanted to have all (un)official Re-Volt cars in one race and hi-ban's cars fit very well in the game too so that makes already 67+19 cars. The other 14 were either other favourites of mine or just randomly chosen [/offtopic]

I have one last argument: Oh, come on. All that fuss over the source code and wether or not it should be released is bothering me. If anyone is too afraid to release it, just send it to me. I'll release it and take the entirety of the blame should there be a legal fuss. |

Or you could learn how to decompile the game and add these things in yourself. You can use the official Re-Volt source to find what you need, then figure out how to decompile the 1.2 executable to access that information, recompile and keep for personal use only. Otherwise, if you are not willing to learn that than let's be done with the topic. Also, 100 cars is a stupid-crazy amount. |

Of course I could, in fact I am learning to program as I write (It would be a massive hassle, though). When I said what I said, I meant not just for this, I perfectly know it would just be a five-minute chaos trip. But imagine the possibilities if anyone could edit and add to the Re-Volt code, how glorious that would be. Just think about how open-source programs tend to be better in all aspects than their commercial counterparts. In just a few years, I could imagine Re-Volt having moddable powerups, many-wheeled vehicles, anything the willing community that it already has could want. By the way, I see in retrospective that my previous post was somewhat rude. I apologize. |

I want that too. But we'll have to pry the rights from WeGoI before we do that, or Re-Volt could be renamed and re-engineered from the wheels up to be cross-platform, using DevIL and LUA with custom libraries to load the various files levels and cars require to keep this port 110% compatible with standard-form Re-Volt content. I wonder how the people at WeGo did it for Android and iOS? Because surely Microsoft didn't license and allow an implementation of DirectX outside of Windows... Unless Re-Volt 2 is just a specially-made DC emulator that autoboots a modified game ROM... |

LOL the 100 car race i hope someone makes that as either a patch or mod to the game, it's so hilarious (If you want to make the patch easilly, modify a patch version of Re-volt.exe and change it's clockwork carnage. Otherwise, make the modified Revolt.exe have a limit of 100 cars.) EDIT: sorry for bumping |

Also, 100 cars is a stupid-crazy amount. --END QUOTE-- Yes, I've did already made the disassembly of Revolt.exe at The Online Disassembly and it is freakin' more complicated than any of us may have been expected. Or you could learn how to decompile the game and add these things in yourself. Also, 100 cars is a stupid-crazy amount.[/quote] Well, anyways, the real sourcecode of the game may not be in the .exe really, but as well might be at an DLL or another script file at the folder. All I know is the disassembly is done and just more intricate than ever!!! Well. anyways, if not anyone find the Carnage code in the disassembly, we may search in all the other parts of the Re-Volt folder we haven't yet... ![]() To disassmbly you must obviously have Re-Volt installed. 1. Go to ODA (The Online DisAssembler). 2. Go to the tab File -> Upload File... and then Browse for ReVolt.exe on your Re-Volt folder and then upload it. 3. Then, as soon as you uploads it, wait for the Online Disassembler to process all the disassembly so you can "disturb" the codes. Done! I only gave you the link of the disassembly, but yet you can upload Re-Volt.exe and... well, disassemble it. ______________________________________________ Panga Carnage? UFO Carnage? 60-cars Carnage? Okay, I wish it certanly... will it be hard ever???   Okay, let's be sure... carnage is mes. No I don't want mess. Goodbye, I hate Carnages. |
