ORP & RVL Board Conversions

Posted by URV (Super Moderator) at Dec 5 2017, 09:02 PM. 5 comments

Yesterday, on December 4, Our Re-Volt Pub has unfortunately been forced through a change. With the acquisition of Zetaboards and zIFBoards (formerly InvisionFree) by TapaTalk back in July this year, old InvisionFree boards are now being converted to either ZetaBoards or TapaTalk. The administrators of a board have the ability to choose between one or the other, and, if no choice is made, the conversion defaults to TapaTalk.

It is apparent that this is what happened with Our Re-Volt Pub. With no choice being made due to the original administrator no longer being active (it is believed he was the only one to receive the notifications), this resulted in a conversion to TapaTalk. A discussion on this matter can be seen in this thread on ORP.

Aside from the strikingly different change in appearance, the forum is now missing various functions it previously had, along with extra limitations that cannot be bypassed without payment from the administrators.

The administrator of our board, zipperrulez, has already taken measures to delay the conversion for Re-Volt Live, while also stating a preference towards ZetaBoards. Unfortunately, the conversion will likely happen sooner or later even if we are against it, but we believe that ZetaBoards will make a much better option than TapaTalk, as it is arguable that ZetaBoards could be considered an actual upgrade. Various changes in the appearance and functions of the forum will still occur, but it will be possible to lessen the damage much further than it would be with TapaTalk.

Update: A new forum has been created on Re-Volt I/O, meant to imitate the look and function of the old ORP. Check it out!
Update 2: Re-Volt Live has been automatically converted from InvisionFree to ZetaBoards on January 24.

American Motors Bio is ONLINE

Posted by Gel38 (Masterminds) at Aug 13 2017, 07:46 PM. One comment

As of August 13th, 2017, AM-Bio is officially online! There you’ll find cars, tracks, tools, and more for Re-Volt and Viper Racing! There are also exclusive bonuses that you can find on the site. Some downloads including extra paintjobs, and even totally exclusive content!

Most of the items on the site are my creations. However, there are a few other creations which will be posted from other users, such as tools, and some repainted cars! So, I've you've ever worked with me on any project, it's there along with my personal comments over each car/track.

Also, I will begin doing monthly reviews (if I have the time) of cars and tracks for Re-Volt and Viper Racing. A sort of Highlight, and download links will be temporarily provided for the track/car.

Viper Racing tracks have yet to be uploaded (but i need to make a choice of which I ones I want to host)

If you have problems with links not working or whatever, let me know either here or on the website. Also, let me know what you guys think of the design. For now, here's the link which you can bookmark.

Re-Volt Zone needs funding

Posted by Marv (Masterminds) at Jul 3 2017, 02:38 PM. 0 comments

I'm posting this in behalf of Zach (he didn't ask me to but I think it's a very important matter).

I know myself that hosting a website costs a lot of money. RVZ is the largest collection of cars and tracks and allows people to comment and rate other people's works and it's a crucial part of the Re-Volt community.

Currently, Zach is either looking for a way to fund the website (there is a donations button!) or for someone to pass the website onto.

You can donate via PayPal/debit card by clicking on the Donate button, if you can spare a few bucks. You can also leave a comment on RVZ if you have another idea.

ARM's 4th National Gathering

Posted by TheFactor82 (Members) at Oct 21 2016, 11:57 AM. 5 comments

Hi everybody!!!
Just for you to know... Starting from tomorrow, for the fourth consecutive year, in my country house near Turin me and some ARM people will start a 40-hours meeting focused on RE-VOLT!!!
We will at least 9/10 people closed in a room with our pcs and our Re-Volts running uninterruptedly (until we will fall asleep on the keyboard!).
We will play, we will talk about rv project, but most of all, we will have fun!

Some of the partecipants will make thousands of km to join our gathering (one of them will take A FLIGHT to come to play with us).
It's the fourth year that Arm community goes beyond the relations that can be established through a forum, allowing REAL people to get to know, in REAL LIFE.

This should make you understand the power of Re-Volt!

(maybe next year, if someone is interested, I can organize an INTERNATIONAL gathering... ;) )

This is probably old news, but there have been some updates on Killer Wheels' Website. :)

Updates include a 3DS Max Revolt exporter, as well as a new downloadable track (Slippery Slope) made using this asset. The download for the exporter isn't yet available though, but it can be a useful alternative to the Blender plugin whenever KW finishes tweaking it!

Copy.com is being discontinued

Posted by ElectricBee (Masterminds) at Feb 1 2016, 07:47 PM. 20 comments

Barracuda Networks is discontinuing Copy.com and CudaDrive as part of a restructuring plan, detailed in the message they have their users see when they first visit the webpage;
Copy.com and CudaDrive teams
We are announcing today that the Copy and CudaDrive services will be discontinued on May 1, 2016.

Copy and CudaDrive have provided easy-to-use cloud file services and sharing functionality to millions of users the past 4+ years. However, as our business focus has shifted, we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue the Copy and CudaDrive services and allocate those resources elsewhere. For more information on this decision, please view the blog post from Rod Mathews, our GM of Storage.

We know this comes as disappointing news to our users, but rest assured that we will do everything we can to take care of each of you in the manner for which Barracuda is known. We have partnered with Mover to make migrating your data to another service as easy as possible and have created a step by step guide that walks you through the process of moving your data to a local hard drive or another cloud storage solution.

If you are on a paid subscription for either Copy or CudaDrive, please keep an eye out in the coming days for an email with more detailed information on your options. For additional information, please visit our FAQ page.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

All the best,
The Copy & CudaDrive Team

So what does this mean for you? If you have their desktop software, absolutely nothing for your files. If on the other hand you are somebody relying on web access to said files, and don't have the originals, then you're well and truly hosed after the 1st.

If you are a modder or if you've shared files in posts with copy.com addresses, then please move your files to another service and update your threads as soon as you can. After May 1st, your audience will no longer be able to access your content, but if you install the Copy.com desktop software on your PC and use that to download all of your stuff, you can still reupload it elsewhere and modify your threads after discontinuation.

If you are a user who wants to save any content from copy.com, feel free to download it, reupload elsewhere and post your link in a reply.

Other services you can move files to:
Dropbox (2GB free / 25GB free with some hardware bundles)
SpiderOak (2GB free)
Microsoft OneDrive (5GB free / Already installed if on Windows 10)
MediaFire (10GB free)
Box (10GB free)
pCloud (10GB free1 / Confirmed space sharing)
Google Drive (15GB free)
MEGA (50GB free)

1: Previously listed (and advertised) as 20GB free, actual plans are 10GB free (up to 20GB), suggesting either they backpedaled hard on their free plan or I misread something while I was rushing to release the list update prior.

Bitcasa is discontinuing its Bitcasa Drive service. All data on that service will remain available until May 20th.

A lot of these services also have their own desktop applications for user convenience, once you've settled down with a specific cloud solution you like. Referral programs can get you even more free space with some of these services, and some services will also give you more space if they screw up something and it directly affects you.

We have three months to prevent any loss of data from this, starting today.

ReVolt Zone

Well, I finally got a replacement computer and have started fixing scripts in RVZ. I have heard quite a few complaints about the interface of the website as well. Does anyone have suggestions? We can improve the existing or start completely fresh with a new format/layout. If you find layouts you already like, just link them here. Also feel free to post drawings or sketches of your preferred look. Try to find something that will work well with Re-Volt and it's content. Thanks for the help!

P.S. - There is already a thread for RVZ suggestions not related to this one. Please post any non-layout suggestions there. :)

Re-Volt on Steam Greenlight

Posted by Skarma (Super Moderator) at Aug 18 2015, 02:48 AM. 8 comments

Someone has listed Re-Volt on Steam Greenlight. Frankly, I'm rather suspicious of it myself. The "author" claims to be a "mate" of Roy Park's and he was given the go ahead to list this there.

I would write more regarding this but I don't know what to say that everyone hasn't heard a bajillion times already. You be the judge.

Hello, it's a bit sad to announce it but... when I've visited RVTT... it was not there.

Although, I doubt the possibility that RVTT is to be renewed so it's most likely and sadly that it has shut down.

For those who don't know about RVTT, it's a French community of Re-Volt that was very successful and active in the 2005 years [that's 3 years after its establishment].
The latest RVTT version 2 was released in 2011 while its forums have been the top for a while, the site had a lot of cars, tools and tracks .
RVTT held a good heritage of old Re-Volt community, and it's believed to be the last alive site that links both of old community and new community of Re-Volt.

Until things get confirmed, let's stay calm down. THere is still Old version of RVTT roaming around!

Best regards
