Mai nursed her Mirage frame through the abandoned city. In her passing memory she remembered reading about this place. It had once been called Atlanta and was home to a great sports team, baseball. Little strategic value that was it quickly faded from her mind and was replaced by images of her last confrontation.

"Why..."

She ran the battle in her mind over and over again. It was as though she was watching an instant replay video in her mind and it was set on loop. Every movement, every shot that was fired was cataluged in her mind. It played faster and faster, begining to flip through the images at such a blistering pace it was stunning she hadn't had an seizure. Atleast it would have befallen any 'normal' human in her mind. She was better than that. She was a cordinator of the highest calibur. Bred for combat, bred for intelegence. She had done away with her sense of mercy and yet...

"WHY!?!"

She screamed at the top of her lungs. a thin trail of blood trickling down her forehead and onto the control pannel. She slammed her fist into the metal rim of the front monitor that was already damaged, cutting her hand up in the process. Her chest heaving in labored breath to try and steady her blood preasure.

"WHY DO I KEEP LOSING?!"

She shrieked to the heavens, wishing that she had something near by to tear apart. Her hand grabbed her arm and dug her nails in, raking it down in a claw like manner to draw a few more thin trickles of blood from her peach colored skin.

Her seething brought her to looking at herself in the shattered pannel of the control grid. She cold see her unkept hair now spattered with bits of mobile suit, her shoulder sported the dark coloration of drying blood as well. As she stared she made contact with her eyes and was met with a different flash back this time.

She had never experienced this kind of flash back before. Usually they played in front of her as though she were watching a movie screen. This time she was there, disembodied but there physically. She saw a little girl of just 10 in a pair of camoflauge fatigues fending off a much taller and older gentleman. She threw a well positioned kick to the mans knee to disable him but her leg was caught, and most effortlessly she was lifted up upside down.

She tried to take a swing at him but he turned and slammed her into the ground, earning a muffled yelp from her. Mai placed her trembling hand over the injury on her head... A reminder to the scene she was watching. The man spoke without any grief or remourse.

"You are a disgrace to cordinators and to this organization."

His voice was flat but it carried a knife like edge. He did not release her leg but twisted it by the ankle, making the girl whimper again as her hands balled into fists. Her knuckles whitening from the pain but refusing to outwardly cry.

"You have perfect training!! A perfect memory!! And yet you somehow still manage to always dissapoint!!"

He brought his foot up and kicked her in the side. She remmembered that kick, it had broken one rib and bruisd two others. She watched in abject horror as the kicks and punches rained down on her. Each word piercing into her heart as his words sunk deeper in than any of the strikes. Failure, idiot, worthless, mistake... They grew louder and louder until she finally gave a shrill cry.

She breathed heavily and looked around at the damaged cockpit. Her eyes darting around for an explination. Her hand moved up to her head and felt the now cool blood staining her flesh.

"Must have blacked out."

She checked her radar before silently getting out the medical kit stored in the cockpit and retrieving some bandages.

"No time to sit here feeling sorry for myself..."

She stopped while she was bent down, her eyes looking up at the display on her screen. It showed The Astray Green Frame and now the Throne Eins.

"A prototype power system... enhanced launcher system and matching rifle... Terrified of close range combat as surmised."

She tied the bandage firmly in place around her head.

"I won't forget..."
