"All I've got are requests from various members of the civil government asking for help with one project or another," Odessa said. "They've all got some merit I'm sure but I bet there are a lot of dumb requests too."

Pulling one of her favorites out of the "Reject" pile, Odessa read "Permission to borrow one militia HyGogg to jump-start off-shore nature expedition company, permission to set up a fried eel cart outside the barracks, permission to build a candy store a block away from the hangars."

She looked at the report in her hand and shuffled that into another pile. "Don't know how that one got in the reject pile. I liked that one. Anyway, if you guys aren't going to leave my office, then the least you can do is help me look through this proposals for the better ones."
