Odessa nodded, realizing she'd arrived in time to defuse a very tense situation. With a quick adjustment to her hat, she walked over to the tense-looking girls and smiled.

"Alright then, I've got candy in my jeep, so climb on in," Odessa said and added for the Marines. "And you lot can get back on patrol until you figure out who's been spraying limericks on the hangar wall. They're not funny anymore."

She waited until the security personnel had gone back to their normal routine before addressing Nadia and her small friend again.

"We need to straighten a few things out, Nadia," Odessa stated. "I'm willing to forgive your friend's intrusion since she hasn't hurt anyone...well, except for Zoey."

Hotaru would stare at Odessa suspiciously, smiling as she was entrapped by her sister's arm, the warmth of this person against her comforting her. She would leave the rocks alone, ignoring the works of the perhaps dangerously strong coordinator and simply teetering on her feet as she let her sister guide her as she wished. Per usual, she would not say anything to Odessa, only giving the meaningful glances as she first felt annoyed at the idea of being offered candy and troubled by being forced to do things again.

Nadia nodded. She didn't want to be forceful, but she did prod Hotaru along a bit, leading the girl toward the jeep. Though the girl had not said a word, Nadia was almost certain it was who she had thought it was. Not feeling the need to keep it a secret she simply gave a little cringe at the mention of her 'friend'. Of course Odessa didn't know it at the time, but Nadia turned her head "Errr..I'm...I'm pretty sure that uh...She's actually my sister..." Nadia said quietly, tapping the girl on the head slightly "See the resemblence? I'm sure she didn't 'really' hurt Zoey..." She giggled as she lifted a hand up and pulled one of her contacts out, revealing the natural shade of her eyes, which also bore resemblence to those of Hotaru's before she pushed the green contact back into place.

Nadia didn't say anymore, she simply helped Hotaru into the jeep before climbing in her self.

"I see..." Odessa said as she unwrapped a small fruit candy to snack on. "Oh yeah...you've got a lot of explaining to do on this one."

The jeep started up with a quiet rumble, as if tactfully deciding not to make a loud ruckus while Odessa drove back towards the base.

"So do you talk, Sister?" Odessa asked, glancing at her passengers when she afford to.

Hotaru would look away from the woman, laying down in the back of the jeep, letting the ride calm her as she closed her eyes, a breath of calm escaping her mouth as she seemed to waver to a half sleeping state, happily enjoying the ride. Hotaru had decided against giving further trouble, merely reaching into her blouse and pulling out the band that had been used on her wrist for so long, bearing her name and number for the facility...

With the jeep in motion and Hotaru laying lazily in the back of it Nadia just gave a sigh. She rose a hand, rubbing at her head slightly "I haven't seen her in eight years.." Nadia admitted, slumping back into the seat of the Jeep. Her head turned around, looking back at the young girl who was laying in the back of the Jeep, only catching a slight glance of the band before turning her head to Odessa "Truthfully, I thought she was dead...We got separated in the panic..."

Nadia scratched the back of her head and umpfed as the jeep hit a pothole in the road. What a troublesome road that was, when Odessa had asked if Hotaru could speak Nadia decided to interject into the conversation "I'm not one-hundred percent sure, but I think she's a mute...She was trying to talk earlier, but no words came out."

"Well, she can visit a medic or a psychiatrist or whoever if she wants to," Odessa said. "Or she can work it out herself or whatever."

Such a confusing situation! A mute refugee kid running around with a mobile suit for as many as eight years? And she's Nadia's sister? This was going to take a lot of time to consider. Silently, she hoped the could was at least literate so she could get some answers out of both of these nuts.

"She's also welcome to stay here if she wants to," Odessa continued. "But unless she signs up with us or the civilian militia, we're going to have to limit how much access she has to that mobile suit of hers."

Hotaru would continue wavering back and forth between dream-memory and reality. Normally she'd be concerned about her safety in a position like this, but the currant situation seemed to be calm. Odessa wasn't yelling or being aggressive, and that was enough for Hotaru to at least slightly recognize the woman's existence. Nadia seemed appreciate this person, and that was more than enough for Hotaru too keep an ear open. So when Odessa would talk about confiscating the Sinanju, Hotaru didn't attack her, instead she thought and remembered her initial plan for meeting with Nadia before she blew it all to hell and ran onto the base. Taking a scrap of paper from her pocket she handed it to her sister, carefully written out in a practiced professional format. The wording of it was still childish, but it seemed Hotaru had spent a good deal of time on it. "I am strong. I will join you."

Nadia blinked as the girl handed the piece of paper off to her. Unsure really of what to say as she just stared at the paper, she glanced back and forth between Odessa and her younger sibling. Nadia didn't really want Hotaru to fight, but imagined taking that red mobile suit from the girl would have similar consequences as to when she tried to pull her arm away from her. So without much else choice, Nadia turned her head over toward Odessa "She says she'll join us."

Odessa sucked on her candy as she mulled the quick decision over. The kid must really be desperate to stay with her sister if she was so quick, so eager to sign up with a group of people who often faced death at the hands of others like them.

"Are you sure you don't want to think it over a little more?" Odessa asked with concern. "Either way you're welcome to stay here with your sister, but we just can't have mobile suits randomly flying hither and thither around here; there are rules and regulations I can introduce you to."

After another pothole cause her to briefly choke on the sweet, she gritted her teeth and wonder if she ought to make road maintenance a priority.

"If you're certain about agreeing to join our group though," Odessa continued, spitting the hostile candy out. "Nadia is familiar with the terms of our usual contract and can advise you if you wish to negotiate any of them."

Hotaru would look up at Nadia in response to the girl. There was never any doubt about joining this team. With Nadia here, and yes it was familiar now. Nadia was the name of her sister. Hotaru really couldn't believe she'd forgotten that. It didn't matter at this point, the girl sitting up and crossing her arms to hang around the older woman's neck, her head tilted off to the side and waiting for her elder's advice.

When the younger girl attached to her neck Nadia almost choked a little. Too tight, the hug was too tight. Couldn't breathe. Her cheeks started to lose color before she gently pried at Hotaru's arms creating more slack for her self as she gave a sigh of relief "She doesn't seem to care about any of that.." Nadia said in response to Odessa, one finger pointing toward the face of Hotaru "But technically I'm her legal guardian...If it's what she wants, then I'll consent to her joining." With their mother dead and their father god knows where, that made Hotaru Nadia's responsibility, and Nadia would've much rather had Hotaru there with them then having to worry about where she was. At least she knew that if the girl was with her that she could keep her safe.

"Alright, then that's that," Odessa sighed, wishing all contract negotiations could go so smoothly. Sometimes she didn't know how her old captain had put up with this kind of job. "We'll go get a fancy-looking document to make this official and then we'll get you a bunk where you can put your things."

The jeep slowed to a halt in front of a somewhat-worn-looking building that bore a newer-looking sign saying "Headquarts" and Odessa led the sisters to her office. She rummaged around a desk for a copy of the contract all military personnel at one point or another had signed.

"Here it is, read it over if you want, or else just sign your name to the bottom," Odessa instructed, handing over a pen. "And since you had a reference when you signed, you and your reference get a small signing bonus."

Odessa leaned underneath her desk to a small safe made from the armor of a scrapped Murphy. She fidgeted with the lock until it clicked, allowing her to open it and pull out a small stack of bills.

"Your signing bonus, your referral bonus, and your friend's referral bonus," Odessa said mechanically as she made three small piles of bills. "If you want, you can stay and listen to me give a little speech with a small bit of music that the city mayor insists I do to make you feel patriotic, or if you'd rather you and your sister can go out into town and catch up....after you move your things in, that is."

Hotaru took the pen curiously as she looked at the complicated paperwork. She didn't particularly care what all it said, but never the less she scanned it lazily as Odessa turned away. Seeing the bar at the bottom and moving too sign, the girl stopped as she quickly came to realize the importance of the paper. Doing something falsely might get her, and more importantly her caretaker Nadia , in in rather grave trouble with Odessa. She knew that Nadia was the name of her sister... but surnames and her own name that Nadia knew her by were far from her mind. She had absolutely no recollection of them, newtype senses or no. Hotaru's hand would grip the pen oddly as her eyes glazed over with anxious fear and the pen twisted and twitched in grasp, the clip on it scratching into her palm as she would bleed slightly from the increasing cut of tin against flesh.

The hum of another jeep could be heard outside the worn out building which read ‘Headquarts’. Zoey chuckled slightly at the sight of the building. With all construction and weaponry purchased in the past week one would think PMS would build something more impressive. Turning the engine off and then stepping out of the jeep Zoey adjusted her sunglasses. Firmly shutting the door Zoey walked over to the door and knocked twice.

It’s Harkness,” Zoey yelled through the door before entering the room. Immediately Zoey focused on the group centered about Odessa’s desk. Most interesting now was the little girl from earlier, her trembling hands with one bleeding even. “Guess I’ll have to call you something other than little girl from now on, huh?
