Crossing the southern Pacific was a daunting task... especially when cooped up in the cockpit of a mobile suit with barely any leg room to stretch. So sat Kyle Ryder, shifting an twitching in the little space as the Astraea rushed over the ocean at high speed. His only solace being that he had a little bit of work to do on the gundam including rewiring the inside of the cockpit. "Gah this is so boring!" He yelled opening the hatch to let fresh air, as well as GN particles into the cockpit. Then from his new position he began to pull apart plates beside the chair. Colored wiring popped out letting him know that this was going to suck. "Now where is it?" Scrounging around he found the owner's manual under the seat. Of course he could open up the program on his control panel but hard copies were always better in his view. Plus reading fine print on the screen hurt his eyes after awhile. So flipping through the large volume the section on cockpit wiring was found around page 1890 or something. "I swear Stephen King writes the manuals for these things..." (cause his books are ungoddly long? hahaha) So before beginning to play electrician he turned on some tunes and played a hard rock CD to juice him up for a complicated and rather lengthy work ahead. But at least it would kill some time on this long boring journey. Maybe if he was lucky he might run across a random person on the trip. |

Mist sprayed into the open air cockpit keeping the mecha pilot cool in this humid environment. He didn't even mind the manual becoming dampened because it was just another price to pay for comfort. He also didn't mind the fact that his music was blaring from the cockpit either since nobody was for tens of miles out in this wide expanse of water. "So the red wire connects to the green?" Flipping through the pages he found that it indeed did connect so he quickly connected them as a stirring could be heard inside the compartment as it came to life. "Bingo! and who said I couldn't get through mechanic's school?" Laughing he began to work on the next compartment which was connected to the life support systems. If he could get this system up then the hatch could be closed and the air-conditioning turned back on. Eager to begin on the next assignment he nearly forgotten that the last time he had eaten was yesterday. Stomach growling his hand reached instinctivally for the sandwich hidden in the survival kit behind the seat. Yes he kept a sandwich because he figured food was more important than bandages and a flare gun. After all if he had been dumb enough to be shot down over enemy territory then he deserved to have died anyways. So sandwich in hand Ryder started to munch away while reading the manual for getting the life support up. Especially since the sensors were showing a storm up ahead. |

Sandwich munching and reading a technical manual was a recipe for daydreaming as his brain flickered from chewing to reading to slow brain processing. This meant instead of focusing on getting the life support up a sort of daydreaming state formed as the Pacific ocean turned into the waters around Orb. -Daydream- It was another beautiful summer day in the paradise that was the Orb nation. Behind him was Morgenrote Industries completing production of their first GN drives. Ahead of him Murasame's were performing formation training always prepared for the next war destined to come to their shores. Unlike last time Orb wouldn't be caught of guard and once these new devices were finished they would regain the technical edge they deserved. Unknown - "Hey Kyle watcha doing!" The figure of the future Astraea pilot was sitting on a dock watching the war games from afar as a figure ran up behind him from the direction of the community built around Morgenrote. Most of the technicians and people of value lived around the facility in order to preserve security. Lazily he turned towards the voice to see a girl in a skirt and short red hair. He seemed to look past her as she got close enough to have him inside her shadow. Girl - "Kyle are you paying attention?" Waving her hand in front of the guy she started to get frustrated. "Fine if you can't pay your little sister some attention then I won't give you your letter." Waving the letter in front of him Kyle began to stir and reach for it as the environment became hazy and Orb slowly became the airy cockpit of the Astraea. He was literally reaching into mid-air for something that didn't exist with a sandwich half in his mouth looking silly. Laying back in his chair he finished eating the last of the piece of food and ended with a sigh. "Guess i'm losing it..."[/b] This must have been the ocean madness he had heard of from sailors. |

With his lunch done he had no excuse anymore to not get his repairs finished. So getting back to work it would be another hour before life support was back on. His next job would be to re-program the system and make sure everything was up to caliber including targeting systems. The memory cache would have to be checked too in order to make sure he still had data uploaded from Orb intelligence. -hours later- Kicking the final plate in Ryder looked at a job well done as the continent of South America began to come into view. "LET's GO!" Activating GN Burst the Astraea rocketed forward as a ring of GN particle light poured from the machine. (Thread done) |
