i liked the book and everything too, but because i'm a huge asshole, i enjoy watching hipsters getting taken down more than i enjoy good cinema. for anybody that thought that ron howard was a credible director, go fuck yourselves. no seriously though, take your special edition dvd of "far and away" and penetrate yourself with it :abouttime:

woah...some serious hatred....the book wasnt recieved that well critically either...

I saw the film, and the best thing i could say was the that the ideas were interesting...oh and Audrey Tatou looked damned fine. Aside from that it was an average film which moved a lil too slow for a thriller and which on the acting tip was rescued by the two brits.

oh whats with the fury directed at howard?...beautiful mind was a good film, i thought...and i liked willow too.

Book was ok. ;)

I liked the ideas which the writer stole anyway. :(

Havent seen the movie but based
on other peoples opions
and my suspicion its not good. :det:

I saw this on Saturday. First off, I liked the book a lot. It's very addictive and I got through it in a weekend. My thoughts on the movie (spoilers within):

-Robert Langdon should've been played by someone else, Hanks' presence is too powerful and fucked it up for Audrey Tatou's character as her role was dumbed down to just a sidekick rather than the one solving puzzles and shit.

-Ian McKellan was awesome as Teabing; Jean Reno and Paul Bettany were good as well.

-I love Audrey Tatou and she was perfect for the role of Sophie, too bad her first big Hollywood appearance ended up being ehhh (not her fault) :)

-I hated how they excluded little things like explaining how Remy is allergic to peanuts (which lead to his death), not having a cryptex within a cryptex, etc.

-I liked how they kept Mary Magdelene's sarcophagus separate from the sacred documents, and also how they explained Langdon's fears.

I'd say it's just worth renting or downloading. If you liked/loved the book, then I guess it'll be worth it to see it in theatre. 6/10
