:bounce: :happyhappy:

We had rain for almost a half hour yesterday. It was wonderful.

Right now we are still on a watering ban but can water flowers. We can also water trees less than 5 years old. I planted a tulip tree this spring and am hoping it will survive.

With the drought I have had to water my flowers every single day. No sprinklers just hand watering is permitted. The ground is so baked and cracked and the grass is yellow and crunchy. The only spot in the whole yard that looks good is right around the pond. :'(

We have had only 0.09 of an inch of rain since June 1. This is the longest dry spell ever. It broke a record set in 1908.

They are forcasting a little more rain today. I am keeping my fingers crossed they are right.

I'm glad you finally got some and hope you get more today. You guys need it back there.
Right now I am watering my lawn so my lawn doesn't get all crunchy. I hate a crunchy lawn. Nothing worse than mowing a crunchy lawn. Dust all over the place!

Pretty much the same here. I add water to all my ponds every other day and even have to water my established fruit trees to keep them from aborting all the fruit. 95 to 103 temps are experating the problem. Storms seem to die out or split missing us every time.

We just had a severe thunderstorm pass through and dump almost an inch of rain on us. :happyhappy: There are more storms moving at us from the west. :prayer: I'm praying they don't peter out. :prayer: Until this storm, we'd had just a quarter inch in the last month. I went downtown to eat at 8 PM and the temperature was 92, got home just as the storm hit and at 9 PM the temperature had dropped to 70. :happyhappy:

I'm finally able to get back online. We had a storm at 5:30 am yesterday morning with gusts above 70 mph and about half-an-inch of rain. It left us with many downed trees and blocked roads in town as well as a major power outage. We didn't get power back until 9 am this morning. Last night was not pleasant sleeping, but my son, Paul, helped us out a great deal. He loaned us his 3500 watt generator and we were able to hook up our refrigerator and some fans to save our refrigerated foods and help keep us cool. Today, the temperature is going to 102 again, so I'm happy to have the air conditioning back. Also, with no juice, the pond had no circulation, filtration or aeration. I can't believe how fast it started to turn murky and begin greening up. The prediction is for more severe storms tonight. I hope we don't have a repeat. We're getting too old to deal with the stresses involved.

Makes ya wonder how the pioneers survives without all our modern conveniences when you lose your power like that.
Glad it's back on and hope it stays that way :)

Wow Don, I am so sorry to hear that. Glad your power is back on.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that tonight forcasted storms don't do any damage.
It is awfull to have to lose power in all this heat.
Hope you both stay safe.

When we were kids, we didn't have air conditioning and we survived. The pioneers rarely lived to be our age, however. The older one gets, the harder it is to deal with the extremes in temperature. :wisdom:
