Looked out at the pond and the water was low ( Sound familar anitapond). Guess I jinxed myself  in earlier discussion about waterfalls leaking. Now my waterfall is leaking. shut the falls off until I have time to get out there and fix the problem. had a spot where the waterfall foam came loose and the water was leaking over the edge. |

Do you still have filtration with the waterfall shut down? |

Yea, the pump that supplies the falls is a dual outlet pump ( only the outlet going to the falls is down) and the lower section has it's own pump and filter |

When you repair it, I'd sure like to see pictures or video of the problem, what caused it and how you fix it. I have a hard time understanding the design of waterfalls that require foam to prevent leaking. If there is overlap of liners between stream/falls and pond, what is it that requires foam and what is it that leaks? Don |

The water level in the stream is higher than the stream liner and the "foam" is acting a a barrier to keep the water in? I've been trying to figure these leaking problems out too. I always thought leaks came from the rocks or ground beneath the rocks settling causing the pond water to flow over and between. :noclue: T |

We're having the same problem here. Falls is off for right now till we can find the leak in the foam and sealant. Think we're going to have to take the whole falls apart and start over. |

Hey! It looks like I'm finally a "trendsetter." :zipit: It takes some work, but at least the leaky waterfalls can be fixed. I've never used the black foam. I wonder if it adds to or helps reduce waterfall-type leaks? Any opinions on this? |

The foam should never be thought of as a means of containg water in a given area. It's use is for holding rocks in place and to fill gaps betrween them but over time it will break down and seperate from the rocks. One way a liner pond can develope a leak thats worth mentioning and is one that most would not think of is the siphoning effect that developes along the berm of the pond where the folds are located. The folds create a small tube up over the edge. They start when a heavy rain over flows or raises the level of the pond and keeps going to the utter confusion of the pond owner. The way to stop this is to add some silicone to block the tube. End of any posibility of this happening. Last year I had a leak develope and never did find it till this spring when I noticed the liner where it attaches to the filter of my upper pond had detached so an unknown percentage of water flowing out of the filter was being lost. I knew it had something to do with the flow rate through this part of my system since when I reduced the flow the losses dropped. The source of the problem was hidden by the plants growing out the filter. For futher tips on finding leaks check this out. http://www.wernersponds.com/Leaks.htm This site has a wealth of good information. |

Sorry no pics, wife fixed it while I was at work. The dirt behind the liner had settled enough to allow the water to leak over the side. The foam was used to hold the rocks in place in the falls and the spot where the foam had came loose was where the liner had sliped down. back up in operation now thou. |
